Chapter 156: Deceits in the Night Part 2
Lilac’s P.O.V

"They... they tortured their slaves, their maids," Silvia continued, her eyes reflecting the pain of harboring such a haunting past. I felt a surge of sorrow for what she must have endured, the horrors she witnessed growing up in a pack tainted by cruelty and oppression. After all, didn’t she tell me that she was only nine when she lost everyone?

"I'm so sorry, Silver," I whispered, reaching out to squeeze her hand in a gesture of solidarity. "I know that I’ll be carrying the sins of my father for a long time…it’s my karma, it’s his karma and if my suffering can ease the hurt that he caused to others then so be it. I will find peace in knowing that I was able to atone for some of his sins."

It was a moment of raw honesty and mutual understanding, where our pasts collided, intertwining our lives in unexpected ways. As we sat there, the weight of our revelations easing in the space between us, I knew that if we survived this, our friendship would grow deeper, forged through the trials of our histories.

But now that I had calmed down a lot after my conversation with Silver, I could understand Krimson’s side of the story as well.

"Honestly," I began, my voice carrying a cautious tone, "I get where Krimson is coming from, his reasoning, his history. But that doesn't excuse what happened. I still didn’t deserve to be treated like shit."

Silvia nodded in agreement, a glint of understanding in her eyes. “Why don’t I make you some chamomile tea? It’ll help you relax and feel better after your fight. Maybe it’ll help you see things clearly as well?”

“That sounds great.” I let out a sight, feeling a bit exhausted now that most of my worries had left me.

Silver gave me a warm blanket to place over me as the night grew colder. But despite the warmth of the blankets and the inviting stillness of Silver's home, a sense of foreboding lingered in the periphery of my thoughts. Questions darted through my mind, elusive and enigmatic, refusing to be silenced. Why was Silver not mad at me after knowing about my father being the Alpha of Dawn Wood pack? Wasn’t that supposed to be a normal reaction to finding out that you had just befriended the enemy’s daughter?

A knot formed in the pit of my stomach, a nagging feeling that urged me to remain alert. Every instinct whispered caution, urging me to stay vigilant even in the comfort of her home. It was a subtle but persistent tug-of-war between the desire for rest and the growing intuition that all might not be as it seemed.

Torn between weariness and an inexplicable sense of alarm, I sat with my head leaning back against her couch, my senses attuned to the faintest of sounds, my mind grappling with the unsettling feeling that something was off-kilter. In the quietude of the night, I remained, uncertain and vigilant, my mind grappling with the enigma that shrouded the seemingly tranquil invitation to rest.

She reached for the chamomile tea, a remedy she always believed in for calming the nerves. With a gentle smile, she handed it to me, reassuring me that a few sips would help soothe the tumultuous thoughts swirling in my mind. Trusting her, I took small sips, relishing the warmth that spread through me, calming the frayed edges of my emotions.

But as the tea coursed through me, a strange sensation began to take hold. It started with a subtle heaviness in my limbs, a pulling sensation that I couldn't shake off. I blinked, trying to dispel the sudden weariness that seemed to wash over me like a tidal wave. Silvia's concerned gaze met mine, and I attempted to reassure her, managing a weak smile that belied the growing drowsiness.

The room around me seemed to blur at the edges, the once clear lines now smudged and hazy. I struggled to maintain my focus, my eyelids growing heavier with each passing moment. "Silver," my words slurred slightly, the fatigue seeping into my voice, "I think... the tea..."

A sense of urgency gripped me. I could feel my heart racing, the adrenaline coursing through my veins as I attempted to get up. But as I swung my legs over the edge of the couch, an unexpected weakness overcame me. It was as if my limbs had forgotten how to support my weight, and before I could comprehend what was happening, I found myself plummeting to the floor, my legs giving way beneath me.

Panic surged within as I struggled to rise, but it was futile. Each attempt to stand proved more feeble than the last, my muscles refusing to cooperate. Confusion mingled with fear, a cocktail of emotions clouding my mind. What was happening to me? Why couldn't I move?

Before I could make sense of my predicament, a chilling sight froze me in place. There, standing before me, was Silver. Her features twisted into a malevolent grin that sent shivers down my spine. It was a smile devoid of warmth, filled instead with a haunting cruelty that seemed to penetrate my very soul.

But the horror didn't end there. Surrounding Silver were those sinister, shadow-like creatures that had been haunting my every step. Their ominous presence seemed to suffocate the air, their inky forms swirling around me, trapping me in a nightmarish tableau.

Desperation clawed at my throat as I tried to scream, to plead for help, but no sound escaped my lips. My vision began to blur, the edges darkening as dizziness consumed me. With a final surge of terror, the world spun, and I felt myself slipping away into unconsciousness.

As the blackness closed in, the last haunting image etched into my fading consciousness was Silver's menacing figure hovering over me, her eyes glinting with a haunting satisfaction. And then, everything dissolved into oblivion, and I succumbed to the darkness, unaware of what awaited me on the other side.
