Chapter 155: Deceits in the Night Part 1

Chapter 155: Deceits in the Night Part 1
Lilac’s P.O.V

I arrived at Silver's condo feeling emotionally drained, my thoughts tangled in a mess of feelings and confusion. The weight of the argument with Krimson lingered, the sharp words and unresolved tension echoing in my mind. It was one of those nights where being alone in my own space felt unbearable, and Silver's presence always brought a sense of comfort.

As she opened the door, her expression shifted from surprise to concern upon seeing me. Silver was quick to invite me in, sensing something was off without needing to ask. Her place had this serene aura, a soothing blend of colors and warmth that immediately put me at ease.

Entering her cozy abode felt like stepping into a haven—a haven adorned with flickering candlelight casting dancing shadows on the walls. The air was fragrant with the scent of lavender, lending a soothing ambiance to the surroundings. Silver guided me to a comfortable room, ensuring that I had everything I needed. The weariness that had been weighing me down seemed to dissipate in the embrace of this welcoming space.

Without preamble, I spilled the whole story about the fight with Krimson, the hurtful things said, and the realization that it might be over between us. Silver listened attentively, offering a sympathetic ear and gentle words of reassurance. She had a way of making everything seem a bit lighter, even when the weight of the world pressed down.

However, when I told her about my breakup with Del, her frown deepened and she tilted her head to the side, studying me for a good few seconds before asking, “But why did you and Del break up? Everything seemed to be going great between the two of you.”

I hesitated for a moment, contemplating whether to divulge the truth. But Silver's unwavering support made it easier to open up. I took a deep breath, steeling myself to reveal the tangled truth that had been gnawing at me.

"Silver, breaking up with Del…it’s a complicated matter," I began, my voice tinged with a mix of vulnerability and confusion. "You see, Krimson... he's not just someone I know or someone who I have a past with... he's my mate."

The words hung heavy in the air, the weight of their meaning almost palpable. Silver's eyes widened in surprise, her expression a mix of curiosity and concern.

"But Lilac," she started, her voice soft with understanding, "if Krimson is your mate, why were you with Del in the first place?"

“I told you it was complicated, didn’t I?” I sighed, feeling the weight of the truth bearing down on me. "Because Krimson is my first mate, but... I'm his second chance mate."

Explaining the concept of second chance mates was never easy. It was a rare occurrence, a bond that came to be when circumstances allowed for a second chance at a destined connection. I recounted the intricate dynamics, how Krimson and I had been parted before we could fully bond, and how fate had seemingly given us another shot, albeit under complicated circumstances.

“The thing is…when I left Krimson’s pack, I never wanted to see him again.” I explained the complex web that connected both Krimson and I. “I thought he hated me, that he was purposefully mean and hurtful because I was from an enemy pack. But the truth is much more complicated that than.”

As I sat with Silver, the weight of my confession hung heavy in the air between us. It was a moment I had been dreading, yet I knew honesty was the only way forward. Silver and I had grown close over time, our friendship weaving deeper with each passing day, but there were truths I couldn't keep hidden any longer.

"My sister... she was Krimson's first mate." I began, my voice soft but carrying the weight of years of secrecy. “When you told me the truth about my pack, about my father…I didn’t want to believe it. But it turns out…all of it was true. When my father killed his own daughter, my elder sister…he also killed Krimson’s first mate, making him hate my entire pack, my entire bloodline.”

I watched as the realization dawned on her, a mixture of surprise and understanding crossing her features. It was a truth I hadn't shared with many, the knowledge that my own blood was once entwined with the very alpha of the pack that had destroyed Silver’s pack as well.

"I’m so sorry about what my own father did to your pack, Silver," I murmured, feeling the need to explain further, to apologize the wrongdoings that had happened way before my birth. "I’m so sorry for everything you had to face. And I know that sorry doesn’t even cut it…it doesn’t erase the web of hurt and deceit and it certainly will never bring back every loved one you lost…but…I…I just wanted to apologize to you still. I hope that one day…you too can forgive me…”

Silver’s eyes were wide with surprise, the conflicting emotions shown her inner turmoil. "Lilac…I…I don’t know," she said softly, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "My father's pack…my family, my packmates…all of them…I lost everyone because of Dawn Wood..." Her words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of memories she carried.
