Chapter 327: It Was Perfect
Abigail
Everyone embraced us in congratulating hugs before we headed out of the venue, hand in hand with Joy as a family for the first time.
“I want food, mummy.” She said.
“Alright, baby.” I replied from the front seat of the car, trying to adjust my large dress in the tiny space of the white Rolls Royce. Rodrigo drove us back to the penthouse where we would meet Nicolas and Sonia and the others to get ready for the reception tonight.
“We will order food and have it sent up to the room, okay?”
“Okay,” Joy replied.
“Daddy, were you crying when mommy was talking?” She asked.
“My dear, something was bugging my eyes.” He lied.
“Because I saw you wipe your tears.” She said, I looked out the window, holding back a smile.
“Quit it, smartass.”
“Hey, Rodrigo.” I smacked his arm and he gave me a look of disbelief.
“Look at her face, she knows what she is doing.” I looked back at her, who had a smug look on her face. She gave me a wink and innocently played it off, diverting her attention back to her book as she crossed one legs over the other. I chuckled.
“You can't be bragging about her being just like you and then get upset when it backfires.” I said to him.
“You made her into that.”
“Well, I didn't think she would use it against me,” he grumbled, holding my hand and caressing my ring finger. He ran his thumb over the ring, bringing my hand up and kissing it. He turned his soft gaze over to me.
“Was it everything you wanted?” He asked, I reached my hand out and held his face.
“It was more than what I wanted, Rodrigo. It was perfect.”
“There is my favorite new bride.” Nicolas said as he walked over to us when we entered the penthouse, giving me a hug and turning to Rodrigo, smacking his face.
“And my little shithead.”
“Shithead?”
“Nicolas,” Sonia scolded, all of us turning to clueless Luke who sat on top of the penthouse kitchen counter, eating a chicken nugget.
“Don't say that word, son.” Capo said as Lucy handed Luke a juice box.
“How was your jail cell last night, girls.” Damien asked, a hint of a smile on his face.
“Wasn't the worst,” Lucy replied and I blinked up at her.
“We were just lucky Alec and Agnes bailed us out on time.”
“The fucking police that put us there are going to lose their jobs.” Capo muttered.
“They did have a choice, we brawled in the middle of a busy ass club. The roads were filled with pigs, we gad to stay there for five hours.” Rodrigo reasoned surprisingly, he was the calmer one of the two when you really compared them.
“It was your fault anyway.”
“It was all fine until you shot the guy in the leg for pushing Abigail.” Nicolas pointed out.
“What? If a guy shoved me, would you just stand there like an idiot?” Sonia crossed her arms, making Nicolas’s face fall.
“No, darling. I mean..I just..”
“How about I make us some food before we get ready for tonight?” Edith interrupted. Everyone agreed, watching Nicolas’s face fall in relief but from the look on Sonia's face, he might be getting a hard time tonight
Joy and Luke went off to play, everyone dispersed around the penthouse and I headed towards our room, yawning tiredly. The dress was beautiful but weighed me down a lot, I stepped out of it and looked at myself in the mirror. Turning to the side, I brushed my hands around my stomach. I had been bloated lately, my boobs hurt all the time and my skin had a familiar glow, I didn't drink much last night because of my suspicions. I didn't want to say anything to anyone until I knew for sure. Locking myself in the bathroom, I stood above the sink and watched the test, waiting for the confirmation to appear and it did, a heavy breath left my mouth. I anticipated it but when the answer was right in front of my face, I could barely keep in my excitement. I violently shook my hands, cheering so hard that my face hurt as I jumped around the bathroom in just a pair of panties. When a knock appeared at the door, I quickly put it away in the cabinet underneath the sink behind some toilet paper rolls.
“Sweetheart?” Rodrigo called through the door. I walked over and opened the door, peeking out and keeping my body hidden in case anyone else was in the room.
“Is there anyone else here?” I whispered. He shook his head.
“No, they are in the kitchen.”
“Good,” I nodded, opening the door further and heading into the room to put some clothes on.
“Are you alright?” He asked me. I swallowed the lump in my throat as my stomach twisted nervously.
“Yes, I am good.” I pulled a shirt over my head and turned around, seeing him pull his blazer off and unbuttoned his shirt. My mouth salivated at the sight of his muscles, shifting and flexing at each movement he made. I shook my head and moved towards the vanity, taking my hair down and wiping off the makeup.
“Joy?” Rodrigo called out.
“Yes?” She yelled from across the room.
“Did you do your homework?” He asked and silently followed until she spoke up a minute later.
“Yes,”
“You have five minutes to get over here before I check your books and find out you are lying.” He warned. Her little heels clicked against the floor as she headed to our room, a grumpy look on her face when she entered and he glared at her.
“That is what I thought, now get…” He froze, his gaze on her deepening.
“What the hell is that?” She quickly rushed away from him and headed toward me, I opened my arms, letting her hop onto my lap as we both looked at Rodrigo’s angered face innocently.
“Abigail, what is on her fucking lips?”
“Can you girls hurry the fuck up, we were going to be e late!” Nicolas yelled, he and the rest of the boys waiting for us to finish getting dressed.
I quickly adjusted my hair and dressed before turning to Joy and zipping her dress as well. She had taken a nap within five minutes of starting up her homework and woke up half an hour ago. I quickly changed her into a comfier pink dress paired with some sandals and let her hair long in a curly ponytail. After washing my hair, I curled it and let it be before redoing my makeup. I decided on wearing neutral shades for my eyeshadow with dark brown eyeliner that blended into the shadow and glossy brown lips. I took her hand and began walking to the ji where everyone was waiting. Luke was fast asleep in his father's arms and it gave me baby fever, wanting the little one in my stomach to just come out already.
Settled down, Abigail. Tests aren't always right.
