Chapter 98 She Is Completely Different

Chapter 98 She Is Completely Different

Half an hour later, the taxi stopped at the hospital entrance.

Following Louis's earlier instructions, Olivia found room 560 without difficulty.

She raised her hand to knock, but her fingertips froze in mid-air just as they were about to touch the door handle. She looked up and peered through the glass window, but the bed was blocked by a curtain—she couldn't see Alexander.

'He should be okay, right?' Olivia thought anxiously.

She'd pushed herself to the point of hospitalization before, so he was probably like she had been back then—just needed a couple days of rest and he'd be fine.

She slowly withdrew her hand, but then suddenly remembered Louis's words. Alexander had lingering health issues from before, and this time he'd been forced to check in because of a relapse.

After struggling with herself for a long time, Olivia steeled herself and pushed open the door.

He was so startled by her sudden appearance that he dropped his cold poker face for a moment.

After a while, Olivia broke the silence. "Mr. Blake, I heard you were sick and hospitalized. I'm here on behalf of the design department to check on you."

"Is that so?" His gaze swept over her empty hands as he asked pointedly, "Then where are the get-well gifts?"

She'd clearly come to see him, yet she had to make up some official-sounding excuse. Was he really just a boss to her?

Olivia's eyes darted around as she explained awkwardly, "I—I left them in the taxi."

Seeing her still trying to cover up, Alexander felt his anger rising again. He withdrew his gaze and returned it to his laptop, he said coldly as he dismissed her. "You can go now."

Olivia stood rooted to the spot.

She knew he was just saying that out of anger.

Alexander watched her every move from the corner of his eye. Seeing that she didn't leave, his anger subsided a bit.

"Are you still mad?" Olivia asked cautiously, studying his expression.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

She lowered her head, whispering, "I'm sorry."

His fingers paused on the keyboard. His lips pressed together slightly, but he said nothing.

She took a deep breath. "I know what I said was too harsh, but until I figure some things out, I still can't let it go." She raised her head, her eyes pleading. "Alexander, can you give me a little more time? Once I deal with those issues, I'll be completely honest with you."

She felt helpless and ashamed whenever he was near.

Seeing her so conflicted and struggling, Alexander really wanted to ask what trouble she'd encountered that could make her suffer so much, even to the point of falling out with him.

But when he saw her reddened eyes, all his anger was extinguished by her tears, leaving only an indescribable heartache.

"Okay." He finally agreed.

Olivia's tears turned to laughter as she said gratefully, "Thank you, Alexander."

She solemnly promised she wouldn't make him wait too long.

Alexander nodded, gazing steadily at her, his eyes deep, a barely detectable hint of joy spreading through them.

With the misunderstanding cleared up, Olivia relaxed. She glanced at the time and said somewhat apologetically, "Well, it's getting late. I should head back. I'll come see you again another day."

"Get some rest."

Alexander nodded, and said calmly, "Be safe on the way."

The door closed softly, footsteps faded away, and the hospital room returned to silence.

Afterward, Olivia could finally focus on the design competition. At the same time, thanks to Alexander and Layla's support, she'd become something of a rising star in the design world, with people continuously approaching her for projects.

The surge in work kept her so busy her feet barely touched the ground, and she often forgot to eat. To save time, she sometimes even slept at the office.

That day, after listening to Simon report on Olivia's daily routine, Alexander frowned slightly, his tone tinged with displeasure. "So she's been sleeping in a folding chair these past two days?"

Thinking of Olivia's workaholic ways, even Simon felt inadequate by comparison. "Yes, I suggested she could rest in the break room or lounge, but she declined."

She'd just set up her chair and rest, then fold it up and get back to work when someone came by. She'd practically made the office her home.

Seeing Alexander's expression darken, Simon quietly wiped away some sweat.

He knew Alexander felt bad for Olivia, but he'd done everything he could. Surely he wouldn't blame him for failing to convince Olivia?

After a long pause, Alexander said slowly, "Let her be."

He was indeed upset that she didn't take better care of herself, but Simon had also said she was full of energy every day, clearly enjoying this fulfilling work life.

Since she liked it, if he interfered, it would be more like robbing her of her happiness.

Simon nodded. "Yes, sir."

At six o'clock in the afternoon, company employees began leaving work.

Albert parked his car in front of Titan Enterprises and turned his head, searching the crowd for Olivia.

Five minutes later, he finally saw her walk out with a colleague.

"Olivia..." He rolled down the window and was about to call out when he saw her hurriedly get into a taxi without even glancing his way.

As the car slowly pulled away, Albert immediately followed.

He'd originally thought Olivia would go home—he'd been planning to check out her new place and talk to her about quitting and coming home—but unexpectedly, she went to a café to discuss work with a client.

He didn't approach rashly, choosing instead to wait in his car.

This wait lasted two hours.

After saying goodbye to the client, she pulled out her notebook and started working right there on the spot.

Under the lonely moonlight, Albert leaned back in his seat, quietly gazing at Olivia working intently through the glass window, a bittersweet feeling rising in his heart.

He'd never seen her like this before.

Another hour later, Olivia took a phone call and hurried off.

Surely she'd go home now?

But strangely, the taxi got on the highway and headed toward the suburbs.

Albert immediately grew nervous, nearly unable to resist calling several times to ask where she was going.

The car finally stopped in front of a kindergarten. Seeing Olivia arrive, the principal and teachers who'd been waiting rushed up to greet her warmly and show her the way.

A kindergarten?

Albert parked his car around the corner. He looked up at the obviously run-down and shabby kindergarten before him, increasingly puzzled about what Olivia was doing here.

He circled around to the playground side. Through the sparse fence and trees, he clearly saw the principal holding Olivia's hands, tears streaming down her face as she thanked her. "Ms. Harper, thank you so much. We never imagined you'd be willing to redesign and renovate our kindergarten for free. Bright Star Kindergarten will remember your great kindness forever!"Albert stared at Olivia in shock. He couldn't connect this girl radiating gentleness with the sister who'd been vindictive and cold-hearted in front of them.

She was completely different from before.
