You Ruined Everything!

You Ruined Everything!

Verek's POV

I stormed down the hallway to Nyxion's office, my heart an aching mess. Inside my head, my wolf wouldn't stop howling in pain.

'We should have claimed her before he did!’ He howled painfully and I could hear the regret in his words. 'Why did you have to be so stubborn? Now she's gone and her heart only belongs to Aeron.’

'He marked her! She has his scent on her! It's unbearable!’ He roared, his voice sending waves of pain into my mind.

I hissed sharply, pressing my hand to my head. “Enough! You're making it ten times worse. I'll handle everything. I just have to get close to her just as he did.”

“But first I must take care of the fool I call a brother.” I glared at the door as I approached it. The guards on patrol glanced at me before moving away without a word.

I lifted my leg and kicked the door, blasting it open. I walked in and the first thing I saw was Nyxion standing before a huge portrait of… Sirella?

“You still have that?” I frowned in displeasure. “I saw you get rid of it years ago. What is it doing in your office?”

I expected an answer from him, but he ignored me, not even sparing me a glance, and this infuriated me. I bent down and took out my knife hidden behind my boot and marched towards the portrait.

I brushed past him, my hand lifted in the air ready to tear this shit down. Right then Nyxion's voice sounded in my ears and he sounded equally as pissed as me.

“What are you trying to do? Put the dagger down, Verek!” He thundered, the air shifting behind me but I was faster than him. I slashed down the dagger mercilessly and the satisfying sound of the portrait ripping apart filled my ears.

“Nooo!”

I slashed it again, and again, and again until the face drawn on it became unrecognizable. A dull thud sounded behind me and I turned to see Nyxion on his knees, his eyes dull.

“Fool.” I spat out coldly, walking away from the portrait. “How can you still be obsessed with a dead woman? She's dead!”

“You bastard!” Nyxion's head snapped towards me and he got up on his feet, running towards me. Halfway through he grabbed a measuring tool from his table and stabbed it down at me.

I lifted my hand, blocking it, and clenched my free hand, landing a jab at his rib. His eyes widened painfully as a groan escaped his lips.

He stumbled backwards until he landed butt-first on the floor.

“Think Nyxion! Think! She's gone! Sirella is long gone and there's no way to bring her back. Stop obsessing over her!” I yelled, my eyes shut tightly from anger as I stomped my foot on the floor.

“Because of you Nearis has no place for me in her heart anymore. You ruined everything! I was only gone for 3 days and you treated her like dirt! You used your own hands to make Aeron the hero. Her hero! Now look?” I gritted my teeth, standing in front of him.

“She doesn't feel safe around me. I can see it in her eyes. She doesn't trust me!” My hands ran through a handful of my hair and I grabbed it, feeling the sting on my scalp.

My eyes fell on Nyxion and I saw him staring at the ruined portrait like a lost fool.

“S-she turned cold at the mention of your name. She hates you. What exactly do you want?”

He didn't reply and kept staring at the portrait. I was so done with him.

How did he become like this?

“If it wasn't because you're my brother, I would have put you through the hell you made her go through.” I cleaned my mouth, wiping off whatever was there. “I can't lose her to Aeron. Never. It will be the end of me. I can barely think straight being far away from her. I can't imagine her never being around me anymore. I was stupid. So stupid!”

“And as for you, Nyxion. This is my last warning to you because the next time you interfere with my plan and bring problems, I will forget you're my brother. My advice for you is to lock yourself in this room with that portrait.”

“If you don't want her. I fucking do.”

I turned around at the same time and pulled the door open. I feared that I would lose control of myself if I stayed around.

I grabbed the knob and pushed the door open. I didn't realize when it locked. Outside the door stood a maid carrying a tray, her head bowed.

I glanced briefly at her before moving my attention outside and walking out of the room.

The door closed behind me and I exhaled in exhaustion.

“What came over me?” My palms covered my face and I groaned loudly. That wasn't me.

I sighed softly, putting my hands inside my pockets as I didn't know where to go or what to do at the moment.

“Maybe I should check how she's doing,” I muttered and began walking to the garden where I had left her.

I hope she was still there.

“Naeris?” I called, standing in the spot where I had left her, but she was nowhere in sight. I strained my neck looking around.

“Looks like she left,” I mumbled, then turned around, retreating back to the palace.

I began walking to my quarters when my eyes caught sight of the maid from earlier. My brows furrowed slightly when I saw her in a different dress from before.

My hand pressed to the back of my head as I watched in confusion. “Was she done for the day?”

She quietly left the place towards the main gate and only after she left did I snap out of my thoughts
.

That was weird.

I didn't think too much about it and continued walking.
