Chapter 79: New Generation (THE END)

Chapter 79: New Generation (THE END)
The doctors hurried when they saw the patient. The Alpha's wife was going into labor. Kieran, Miss Farrah, Yuan, and Aunt Neela ran after them.

"Aslan... Aslan..." Cosette said while lying on the stretcher.

"I'll get him," Kieran said before Cosette was taken into the emergency room.

They weren't allowed to follow anymore. Kieran told Miss Farrah that he needed to get Aslan from Arendell.

"That's good, Kieran," she said. "He's probably on his way home right now."

Kieran bowed before leaving. Miss Farrah, Yuan, and Aunt Neela were left in the hallway. Soon after, one of the doctors said that Cosette needed someone with her in the room.

"I'll go," Aunt Neela said.

Miss Farrah and Yuan agreed. Aunt Neela went into the room. The two were left in the hallway. Miss Farrah was anxious.

"I told Aslan not to go. He can't always leave, especially when Cosette is about to give birth. Now, look what's happening."

They heard Cosette’s labored breathing. Miss Farrah became even more worried. Yuan bit his lip to stop himself from smiling. So this is what this town looks like when an heir and an heiress is about to be born.

"Cosette survived a bullet. She can easily survive this."

Somehow Yuan’s statement was reassuring. But Miss Farrah was still worried. Any minute now, she would hear the cries of her nephews and nieces.

Cosette’s labor lasted for hours. A few minutes before her water broke, Aslan came rushing into the hospital. The people stopped and bowed when they saw him.

"Where's my wife?"

"She's inside the ER," Miss Farrah said. "Go!"

He was immediately let into the ER. Aunt Neela felt relieved when she saw Aslan. She stood up and let Aslan take care of Cosette.

"Take care of her."

"Thank you.”

Aslan held Cosette’s hand.

"Aslan..."

"I'm here."

"Don't leave..."

"I would never, Cosette."

They all waited. Aslan was inside the ER while holding Cosette’s hands, while the others were outside. Even the townspeople were waiting for the arrival of the Elwood clan's future heirs.

There were excited and anxious conversations everywhere. Even some townspeople were waiting outside. Hours passed, and the cries of two babies were heard in the hospital.

"They're here," Miss Farrah said, almost crying.

Time passed before they were allowed inside the ER. They found Aslan still holding Cosette’s hand. Cosette was lying on the bed. A smile could be seen on her face, and next to her were two babies.

Miss Farrah looked closely at the two babies. They were both awake and seemed to feel the excitement around them. The baby girl had black eyes like Cosette. And the baby boy had yellow eyes. His eyes were flickering from dark to the color of a precious metal. The color of gold.

The twins. A normal human and a pure-blooded hybrid. All of Aslan’s hybrid blood went to one of the babies. One of the rarest instances in their kind.

Miss Farrah cried with joy when she saw her nephews and nieces.

Cosette and Aslan looked at the twins, their children. The new generation of the Crimsons.

"Astrid Zedler Crimson and Cohann Zedler Crimson," Cosette said. "You are my treasures."

Aslan smiled. "And all three of you are my life."

Aslan kissed Cosette’s forehead. Then he kissed his children's foreheads. Outside, the people could be seen celebrating.

"The heir and heiress of Elwood are born!"

Elwood.

Cosette still clearly remembered the first time she stepped foot in this place, it felt like it was just yesterday. From the abandoned mansion, to Aunt Neela’s warning not to step on the attic, the troubles she got into, her first meeting with Aslan, the problems they went through that almost destroyed them. The people in town who were against their relationship, the council, the conflict between their clans. Who would have thought they would overcome all of this?

If she hadn't agreed to go to Elwood and had stayed in Arendell, would her life have changed? If she hadn't stepped on the attic that afternoon, would she have met Aslan? If they hadn't fought for their feelings and had left everything to fate, would she have seen her angels?

The world is so mysterious. There's so much to do, so much to uncover if we are only brave enough. No matter if it's about dealing with your past, your destiny, or your dreams of the future. A single step, a single decision, can carve a different path in our lives. And Cosette was glad she took that one step, she's glad that no matter how scared she was of what the town had in store for her, she took the chance.

Now she was with the most important people in her life, and she might just be starting a new part of her life, but she knew that whatever came, she could handle it... they could handle it as a family, as a town.

Cosette looked at the people around her, the happy faces. She turned to her angels and to Aslan, her husband, the man who chose her above all else.

"I love you," Cosette whispered.

Aslan kissed her on the lips. And at that moment, she couldn't ask for anything more.

THE END.
