Chapter 90 90

Chapter 90 90
Draven's POV
I had something bothering me: how was that werewolf able to get into the house without using the front door? According to what Hazel told me yesterday, she was sure he was standing at the door when she heard his voice.
He seemed to have been watching her for a while; I wondered why he had been watching her. If he truly wanted to harm her, then he had a free chance to do that. So why didn't he?
It's getting harder and harder to find out who this person could actually be, as he never did harm to Hazel, but he emitted danger. I could even sense it, so who could it be? I already have Jason and a few other of my underground men investigating this matter.
According to what they had found, Zac was home last night celebrating with wine and merring away, so he definitely didn't even leave the comfort of his home to talk about actually coming close to the White Walkers pack borders.
I brought out my phone and began sending a text to Jason when I heard the sound of a slipper padding its way down the stairs.
I slowly gazed up to see Hazel slowly going down the stairs, looking so beautiful and all dressed up and astonishingly beautiful in just simple, plain house wear.
I wondered how it was possible that she could look so beautiful. "Hazel, why are you downstairs alone?" I asked.
"Where are your personal maid and Elias?" I continued with my questioning while looking upstairs for them. They were nowhere behind her.
"I asked them not to accompany me downstairs, Draven. I just want to have breakfast with you. At the l dining room." She said it with a bright smile.  And that was all it took.
Her beautiful, enchanting smile had bewitched me again, and I found myself leading her down the stairs and to the table. We sat at the table together, on our seats, quietly.
"Come on, eat," Hazel suddenly said, and she began stuffing her mouth with the food. We both ate in silence, and all I could do was watch, in slow torture, Hazel's lip movements as she ate.
After a while, Hazel suddenly rested back on her chair and exhaled lightly while patting her food baby. She grabbed onto her juice and greedily downed it all down in one gulp.
"Are you sated?" I asked, and she nodded calmly.
I ate a bit more and finally stopped when I had had enough. We both moved outside the mansion and to the garden there. We had a little stroll about, taking in the fresh air, before finally deciding to rest together at the small gazebo in the garden.
I ordered the maids to bring tea and a few snacks for Hazel, just in case she gets hungry again. Hazel sat there, leaning on the table while scrolling through her phone, reading something so intently.
"What are you doing?" I asked, but she was so intrigued with what she was reading that she didn't even hear me speak.
"Hazel?... " I called, but there was still no reply.
"Hazel?" I tapped on her before she immediately sprung up, her brows knitted into a tight knot as she gazed at me in confusion.
"Did you say something?" She asked cutely, earning a slight chuckle from me. "I was asking what exactly you were doing.
Your head has been in your phone so long that you didn't even hear me speak or call out your name." I complained, chuckling at her apologetic look.
"Oh my... I am so sorry, Draven; it's just that I tend to zone out when reading. I really didn't hear you. I’m sorry." She apologised over and over again.
And I knew if I didn't say something, she'd keep on apologising over and over again, to the extent that I'd get so tired of the word 'Sorry'. “Okay okay. I forgive you, I guess... Why are you obsessed with whatever novel you're reading?”
“Is it that interesting?" I asked. “Oh, I'm not actually reading a novel." She confessed with a chuckle, confusing me further. "But you just said..."
"I'm reading a BL comic from this mangago website." She explained. "BL? As in a gay comic?" I asked in disbelief.
"Don't make that look as though you wouldn't like to read Gl." She said it with a sarcastic tone. "I'm homophobic, okay." I explained, and she had her lips pressed together in a thin line while nodding her head affirmatively.
"Do you like BL that much?" I ask, trying to understand. "Yeah, I do. Sorry if that made you uncomfortable." She apologised once more.
"No, it's fine; most straight people love reading gay love novels as long as it's the opposite gender." I explained. "And you?" She asked.
"I think I am cool with Gl." I said it with a smirk. "I knew it, you jerk." She cursed while laughing out loud. Her laugh was so contagious that I found myself laughing along with her.
We remained seated quietly in the gazebo, enjoying the peaceful afternoon, when suddenly, I caught sight of a maid rushing towards us with a look of panic on her face. Her eyes were wide, and her voice trembled as she spoke.
"Alpha Draven! Alpha Draven!" She called out, breathless. "The pack's borders... the borders are under attack!"
My heart skipped a beat as her words sank in. The pack's borders were being attacked. By the Blood Moon pack? We had been at peace for so long, and I couldn't understand why Zac had decided to strike now, of all times.
Something isn't right. But now there was no time for questions. The most important thing was to protect the pack.
I turned my gaze towards Hazel, who was sitting beside me. She looked back at me, her eyes filled with concern and shock. I knew she could sense the urgency of the situation.
"Hazel," I called, my voice trembling slightly. "I have to go. The warriors at the borders need me." Hazel nodded, her understanding evident in her eyes.
"Be careful, Draven," she whispered, her voice filled with worry. "And come back to me safely." I gave her a reassuring smile and then spoke my next lines. "Don't worry, Hazel. I'll be back before you know it. Take care of yourself and Ashe."
With that, I stood up and went back into my room to gather up the things I needed and prepare myself as fast as I possibly could. I spoke to my werewolf Jason.
Then I immediately called for a few more guards in my mansion to accompany me to the borders. I entered my black Audi car and immediately zoomed off to the borders of the White Walkers pack.
As I hurried towards the pack's borders, my mind was filled with a mix of trepidation and anxiety. I couldn't help but wonder why Zac had chosen this exact moment to attack us.
Had he been planning this all along? Or was there something else driving him to strike now? Could this be a trap? Or something else? But those questions would have to wait. Right now, my focus is on defending my pack.
I increased my car speed and blazed through the open space in the forest as fast as I possibly could. Soon, I reached the edge of my territory, and the sight before me was both familiar and unnerving.
At the borders, the pack guardians were barely holding up as they were surrounded by way too many intruders sent by Zac. The pack's warriors were already engaged in a fierce battle with Zac's invading forces.
A few of them engaged in a clash of swords, while others were in their wolf forms, attacking with all their might. The roar of werewolves and the clashing sounds of blades filled the air.
I was just about to shift to my wolf form and fight them when a part of my spine began to hurt a bit. I knew calling my wolf out in this state was a stupid idea, and I did promise Hazel that I'd be okay. So instead, I entered my car and took my gun out.
The gun was fully loaded, but I took out all the bullets in it and replaced them with special ones. The silver bullets are made out of actual silver; one shot is enough to end a wolf, and luckily only high-status people have access to these weapons.
Just like me. This was the exact same type of bullet Zac had used against me in the last fight. But this time there will be a lot of shifts and not much deja vu, as I will make sure the silver bullet pierces through his heart.
I joined the fight, standing side by side with my fellow pack members. The adrenaline coursed through my veins as I fought with my all while in my human form.
My gun remained in my pockets, as it was quite special as it would only be used on Zac and his werewolf Beta.
