Chapter 9 9
Third Person POV
Draven drove as fast as he could, ignoring everyone and everything in his way. He sped ahead without breaking speed. Soon enough, he was at the gate of his estate.
He parked inside and immediately got out, running to his suite where he left her. He barged into the room. “Noah! What the hell happened?" His voice boomed across the room.
Noah who had been expecting him gently stood up and handed him a piece of paper. He took it from Noah and read it over and over again.
"What does she mean by good-bye? She has no one or nowhere to go; why did she leave? Her family won't accept her back," Draven said. He walked around agitated, trying his best to figure out the intentions of Hazel .
"Noah, tell me everything you noticed about her; don't leave out a single detail." Draven said walking around, he couldn't sit down, not right now; he needed her so badly.
"Well, when I saw her, she did seem a bit off; there was no spark in her eyes, no light whatsoever; someone who had given up and had nothing else to lose; she seemed to want to see you urgently for reasons I'm not aware of
But after she found out you weren't around, the little will she had in her seemed to dissipate." Walter finished; he gently sat down after finishing while Draven paced about the room; his senses were on high alert.
"She better not kill herself." Noah said in a resigned tone. Draven stopped himself as he heard that, "Noah, what did you just say?" He asked just to be sure he heard right.
"I... simply said I hope she doesn't kill herself." His voice shook as he said those words; he wasn't sure if he had said something disrespectful to the Alpha or not.
"That's it!" Noah shouted, then ran out of the room. The two men, confused, followed after him:
"Master, could you please tell us what you have figured out?" Noah asked while they both ran.
"The little fool plans on killing herself in the rain; how couldn't I see this much?" he cursed at himself. He stopped just at the gate while the two men stopped beside him.
"Don't follow me; I'll track her down with her scent and find her before she kills herself, understand?" They both nodded their heads in understanding.
"Good luck, Master," Noah said. Draven nodded as he ran off into the forest. He pulled out the paper that she had written and sniffed it; he could smell her scent etched into the paper; it was beautiful but alluring, something to never depart with.
Without wasting anymore time, he slowly began changing into his wolf, a thick-furred black wolf whose skin couldn't be seen under this nigh black fur. He was like a shadow among the shadows, with blood-red eyes to match.
Draven in his wolf form was aggressive and chaotic, but he needed to find her before she killed herself. He sniffed at the air in all directions; the rain would wash away most of her scent but not all of it.
He slowly sniffed, careful to separate the distractions from what he sought till he finally caught her scent. It went even further into the forest. He ran after it, stopping at intervals to confirm her position.
Soon enough, he didn't need to keep sniffing; he knew where she was headed, and he could hear the loud roar of the ocean beneath him. The furious winds as they blew, splattering water all over his face, covering his vision, but he trudged forward.
Soon enough, he saw a human figure walking towards the edge of the cliff; it was a woman, the woman he had been looking for. "Hazel !" He shouted as loud as he could.
She stopped and looked back at who called her name; luckily for him, she hadn't gotten close to the edge, but as soon as she saw him, she scampered even further to the edge in fright of what she saw.
"Leave me alone, you beast; get away from me!" She threw little rocks at the wolf standing in front of her; it was too big and black to belong to anyone she knew; they had sent someone to kill her; she just knew it.
It had to be Thaila; who else would send something like this to hunt her down in the rain? Well, she was going to die anyway, but she wasn't going to die by someone else's hand.

She turned around looking at the dark, raging sea. Thunderbolts struck, sending shivers down her spine. This would be her death.
And she jumped.
"Hazel Nooooo!" Alpha Draven screamed. He ran forward as fast as he could, not being able to see her in the darkness of the night. Again, lightning flashed, showing her falling right in front of him.
Draven howled with all his might and jumped right after her. He felt the rain and winds pushing against him as he fell, but he never lost sight of her.
He caught up with her catching her in his arms; beneath them were some jagged rocks and fierce waves. Draven could be less bothered. He muttered an enchantment for hardening, and soon his fur became as hard as steel.
He crashed into a rock just breaking the surface of water. He tightly held onto Hazel , not tight enough that he would kill her but strong enough to never let her go.
Both of them fell into the water. Draven undid the enchantment as he was falling faster at her. After that, he noticed she wasn't conscious, most likely from the impact of the fall.
There in the water, he changed back to his human form and swam after her. He caught her before she was pushed away by the waves and tried carrying her up. His lungs burnt as they screamed for air.
That fall had knocked out all the oxygen from his lungs. He struggled and dragged himself, his face barely breaking the surface of water. He took two deep breaths before a wave crashed into him once again, completely submerging him.
But that was all he needed. He held Hazel with both his arms and used his inhumane strength to push them both towards the outcrop of stone towards the land.
Mere seconds felt like hours as he padded his feet as hard as he could for as long as he could. He needed to save Hazel no matter what. A middle-aged man's hand left the surface of water, finally touching the pebble stones on the land.
Draven struggled and pulled the girl behind him. He felt unstable and dizzy, but he dragged her away from the water as much as he could before he lay on the ground looking at the storm as it slowly died down.
"Great timing"
He tried sitting up but failed at it; his entire body aches in places where it shouldn't have; he was getting old, doing stings like this weren't on his to-do list; he finally remembered something and groaned in pain.
"Aaahh, my coat, that was my favourite," he said to himself regretfully. He remembered getting that coat off an Italian man at a casino. He turned sideways to look at the ocean once more, but instead his eyes fell on Hazel .
She was beautiful with skin fair and supple, young, daring, and also very stupid; he couldn't believe he had almost gotten lost at sea trying to save her.
He tried bringing himself up and succeeded in doing so; he was drenched from head to toe with no shoes.
"If Robin ever saw this, I wouldn't hear the end of this even beyond death," he chuckled, but he had gotten what he wanted; he had saved her, and now she would save him.
Just then Hazel began coughing out water from her chest. Draven wanted to help, but he knew nothing about these sorts of things, and she seemed to be waking up, so all should be well.
Hazel opened her eyes while she held her head; she felt confused with her vision blurred. "What... am I doing here?" She said her head was constantly hurting her, as if she had banged her head against steel earlier.
She saw a man standing over her; she couldn't exactly see his future, but he seemed to be waiting for her. "Am I really dead?" She asked the man as she tried standing up herself.
"After all I went through, you want to die again?" She remembered that voice; she couldn't forget it; rather, his voice was calming and soothing when he asked her if she was cold in the black car. He looked up at him, her vision finally clearing.
"You, you're the one that saved me," she said.
"Twice, I'm afraid; never have I done so much for a woman," he said with a tired voice. She tried standing up but felt a bit unstable and fell.
He caught her, bringing her to him, too close, close enough that she could feel his breath. "We should get married."
