Chapter 80 80
Jason’s POV
"Draven, that looks like blood," I said, my voice urgent. "Are you hurt? Have you been injured?" Draven looked down at himself, then back at me.
"I'm not hurt," he said, his voice perplexed. I shook my head, my eyes wide with concern. “I’m not convinced.”
"Draven, what's going on?" I asked him, my tone growing more insistent. "Why haven't you healed since then? You're an alpha; you should be able to heal from any injury.
"Jason, please," Draven said, his voice pleading. "I'm going to be fine. The physician said that I'd be okay by this week. I know you're worried, but you don't have to be. I promise I'm okay."
“I don’t want Hazel to worry about me now after seeing this."
“I’d be fine,” he said.
As Draven and I were talking, Hazel suddenly burst into tears and ran down the hall. Draven's eyes widened, and then he hurried after her.
As I watched Draven go after Hazel, I couldn't help but feel a knot of worry in my stomach. I hope that Draven will be okay and that he will recover soon.
I wanted my friend to be healthy again. As I stood there, I made a silent promise to myself to do whatever I could to help.
Draven’s POV
Since I found out about the true powers of the baby in Hazel’s womb. I kept it a secret from her and everyone else.
If the true powers of that baby were leaked out to others, then there was a high chance Zac would stop at nothing just to eliminate the baby before it was born into this world.
Not just Zac, but other alphas as well. If the baby's destiny is truly to unite all packs on this continent and reign supreme, then the other alphas would see the little pup as a threat.
This past week has been oddly peaceful. Zac didn't attack the border or make any moves that could be seen as a threat, but I still had my men on the lookout and ready for any last-minute surprises.
Hazel, on the other hand, has also been doing fine; she has been more and more energised than usual and has never lost consciousness or felt dizzy. Even her physician was oddly surprised by how full of life and energised she was.
Due to this, the physician advised her not to give her any more vitamins or energy boosters for a while so they wouldn't be excessive in her body and cause her insomnia.
She had been finding it hard to sleep already, so I'm guessing we were late in making that decision. Recently, I could sense her always-growing hunger for food and sex.
It was like those two things were all she could think about, but I love that. She looked so different now—full of life, happy, naughty, and even playful.
Tonight was just like any other night; she couldn't sleep, and instead of just chatting until she fell asleep, she decided we should go for a walk together in the gardens right outside the palace.
The moon cast a soft, ethereal glow upon the palace grounds as Hazel and I strolled hand in hand through the gardens. The air was perfumed with the scent of blooming flowers, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves.
"I can't believe we're going to be parents, Draven," Hazel suddenly said, her voice filled with awe and wonder. "It feels like a weird dream; it's nice but weird too."
I squeezed her hand affectionately, a smile gracing my lips. "It's a beautiful dream, Hazel. One that I never want to wake up from," I replied honestly, and we locked gazes for a while.
Both of us were unwilling to let go of each other as we felt hooked at a corner. Suddenly, she cleared her throat and turned away from me shyly. I could see just how red her ear was, and I couldn't help but chuckle.
As we walked, I couldn't help but notice the twinkle in Hazel’s eyes.
"Well, tonight, I have a surprise for you," she whispered, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Curiosity piqued, and I looked at her, a mixture of excitement and wonder coursing through me.
"A surprise? What is it, Hazel?" She gestured for me to sit on a blanket she had spread out on the grass; her excitement was contagious.
I wondered when she had this blanket spread here—had she planned our strolling tonight? "Just wait and see," she replied, her voice filled with a hint of mystery.
We settled onto the blanket, our gazes fixed on the starlit sky. Moments passed in silence, the anticipation thickening the air.
Suddenly, a shooting star streaked across the heavens, leaving a trail of shimmering light in its wake. Hazel’s voice was filled with a sense of enchantment.
"Draven, make a wish," she whispered, her eyes locked onto the star passing by. I wondered if this was the surprise she planned.
All that trouble for a wish on a shooting star? I watched her closely, then copied her movement. Closing my eyes, I wasn't one that believed in making wishes on shooting stars.
But for some reason I let all my reserves go and made my wish. I wished that Hazel was able to deliver Ashe without any harm coming to her.
Opening my eyes, I turned to Hazel, noticing a soft glow emanating from her. “Hazel, what's happening?" I asked, my voice filled with wonder and awe.
She smiled, a radiant glow surrounding her. "Draven, I've been keeping a secret from you," she confessed, her voice gentle and filled with calmness.
"This past week, I've noticed a few changes; other than the obvious pregnancy changes, I've discovered something extraordinary. I have the ability to communicate with the moon."
My heart skipped a beat, my eyes widening in disbelief. "You... you can communicate with the moon?" I stammered, my voice a mix of astonishment and fascination.
