Chapter 68 68
Third Person POV
THUD!
THUD!
Adrian 's fists rang against the bark of a tree deep in the woods; it was a secluded place where most people don't come or think to reach. There, Adrian has sat with his thoughts, trying to process them.
His fists were bloodied and bleeding with several cuts on them, but in reality, he needed the pain to think straight. "They had sex," he mumbled under his breath as he smashed his fists into the tree again.
Leaves fell more from this lunch as birds flew to the sky. He felt his index finger dislocated, but that didn't bother him in the slightest. He thought he could manage it.
He could see her and not feel as much as he used to, but now foolish he had been.
THUD!
He slammed his other fist in the side of the tree; the trunk groaned at the impact, bending the tree to one side as the wood slowly splintered from the amount of sheer force coming from his fists.
"She's pregnant!" He cursed under his breath.
"Damn it, why!" He screamed, barely able to hold his tears in. "It should have been fucking me," he let out in frustration, punching the tree with all his might as the tear spilt down his eyes.
"Me!"
"Not my uncle or anyone else; she belonged to me." He crumpled to the ground on his knees; the tree groaned and fell slowly to its sides as though it were being carefully rested like the way one would lay a sleeping baby.
"How could she get pregnant? Why?" Adrian said to himself as he tugged at his own hair. He felt the need to rip them off and thrash about in anger and fury, but he was tired.
Blood dripped down from his knuckles. He looked at them and saw that his skin was completely gone, just flesh that remained with pieces of broken wood inside and a hint of bones showing, but he ignored all that.
He simply sat at the green sea of grass with no one but himself; he had to collect himself before he ran into Thalia again. He remembered that they were all supposed to go to a ball and do some nonsense he wasn't sure about.
At this point he didn't care; the world could burn and he wouldn't bat an eye. He looked up at the sky still teary-eyed; he didn't know what to do, what to feel, or how to react.
When he heard that she was pregnant, he tried his best to keep his cool in front of both his uncle and Hazel, but he really couldn't just take it; it was too much for him that he had to come deep into the woods to think to himself.
He had done this a lot in the past when his uncle had left; this was his favourite spot after all, and now he just felled his favourite tree that he usually slept on; how much time had passed since he last came here.
How strong had he become to fell a tree with just his bare hands; how confused was he right now that he sat on the ground with tears streaming down his face; he couldn't let anyone know of his pain.
He had to keep it all to himself; the same way his uncle had kept it all in, he would too. Adrian dried his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt and found a nice spot to sit down; his hands still bleed, but the pain was more or less numbing now.
He couldn't feel it as much, and with that, he lost his clarity to his thoughts; his mind was a jumble once more, murky and clouded with no way out.
"Aahhh," he groaned slightly as he stood up to his feet. He checked the time on his watch; it was getting closer and closer towards the ball event.
He had to get dressed, be a man, and discard his unnecessary feelings for now; they wouldn't do him any good. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bandage and gloves.
He certainly didn't want to attract any form of attention towards himself or questions. He found his way back to the mansion, hoping he wouldn't run into anyone at the moment, and thankfully he didn't.
He knew Thalia would probably be back at her parents house getting ready for the ball; she preferred to organise events like this by herself, which meant that only Adrian would have to go.
While he walked towards his room, he spotted Hazel in a beautiful purple dress as she swayed around in the gown; thankfully, she hadn't noticed him staring.
She was indeed beautiful, much more beautiful than he ever thought he had the potential to be. He sucked and passed before she had a chance to spot him.
He returned back to his room and locked the door tightly as he bagged his head against the wardrobe. He wanted to get over his feelings for her; he really did, but at the same time, he yearned for her.
To see her smile, to make her happy—these were his desires and wants, wants that he could never have. With a deep sigh, he took off his clothes and got into the shower.
A long, cold bath couldn't wash his pain or his sorrow. He fought the urge to punch more things, wishing his life would end just as easily as it had come in the first place.
Unwillingly, he left the shower and patted himself dry. His outfit wasn't much to speak of either, just a simple black tuxedo with black polished shoes and a clip for his tie with a handkerchief for his breast pocket.
He got dressed and left the house without anyone knowing about it; he didn't want to let anyone know, nor did he want to go with anyone.
Although he left a bit lonely, he just had to hold it in for longer, just a bit longer.

Hazel stretched about in her dress; she felt absolutely stunning in it; she waited for Draven as he got ready as well; she could stop twirling around and turning as she looked at herself in the mirror.
She didn't think she could be this beautiful. "Are you ready?" She called out once more in an attempt to reach out to Draven.
The door to his rooms slid open as he stepped out, looking incredibly intimidating and responsible in a two-piece suite, a shining black suit with impeccable design.
She couldn't take her eyes from it until he held her chin, gently drawing her attention to his eyes. "You look absolutely stunning," he muttered to her as he leaned in for a kiss.
He drew away after a brief moment and turned her around in a circle as his eyes danced around her, capturing every part of her body.
"We're late; we need to get going, you know," she said with a giggle as she pulled him closer for one last kiss, this time a bit longer, deeper.
Feeling satisfied, they walked hand in hand down to their car; as should be the tradition, neither of them were going to drive, so a driver awaited them as they both got into the car and began their ways back to the Stone estate.
"Do you feel nervous?" Draven asked her as he gently squeezed her palm, reassuring her that he was there, not going anywhere.
"Yeah, I am, but that's not going to stop me from doing what I need to do, not anymore," she said with determination.
They talked among themselves, especially about the event; soon they got to the estate and were dropped off in front of the main building. Hazel remembered this; she couldn't forget it.
It had been the one Thalia had disgraced, and where her parents had disowned her, she took hold steps as she walked in once again as a completely different woman.
As she walked hand in hand with Draven in the ball, heads turned as they drew the attention of every single one, she saw the hate on Thalia 's face as every woman adores her instead of Thalia.
If she felt good as they garnered the attention of others, they walked up to her to talk, to ask about random things like what it's like to be married to the scary brute known as Draven.
She looked around and saw that Draven was deep in conversations with other men that dressed similar to him; they all looked around a certain age with suits of renown and elegance in their ways.
She saw them walking away as they discussed business, something she knew so little about regrettably. Her phone buzzed randomly; she ran to a corner and picked it up; it was Noah after all.
"Hey Noah, I can't find..." She was immediately cut off with questions of his own. "Is the Alpha with you, Luna?" He asked in a panicked voice.
"No, he's with his business partner discussing," she replied. "Please look for the Alpha; he needs to know that beyond the second gate in the Stone estate, is an underground area.
The Labrinth family deals with slave trading and sex trafficking; he must know at all costs; I'm not able to reach him," Noah says in a rush before ending the call.
