Chapter 65 65

Chapter 65 65
Zac’s POV
I slammed my fist on the table in rage. Jason had escaped! How was that possible? I made sure that the dungeon was secure and that the guards were alert and vigilant. But somehow, the traitorous Jason had managed to slip through the dungeon.
I became furious. I will not rest until I destroy them with my bare hands. No matter where he ran or how far he went, I will hunt them down. I will not rest until my enemies are captured.
For betraying me. Draven thinks he could do that to me and expect me to just forgive him. No way! I will hit them where it hurts, “I said, my voice cold and hard. “I will attack their supply lines and their weak points.
“I will hit them again and again, until they don’t know when or where I’ll stay next. They will be confused and unable to defend themselves against our attack."
“And when they are at their weakest, I will strike and destroy them at once.” My eyes glittered with fury as I spoke, and my men nodded, their faces set in determined expressions.
“I will never forgive them for what they did to me”, I said, my voice low and fierce. "They betrayed my trust and my friendship. They lied to me, they used me, and they hurt me.”
“I, the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, will fight them with everything I have until they are brought to justice. Until they understand the pain they caused me.”
My words were like steel, and my men knew I wasn’t joking. My mind raced as I considered who could have helped Jason escape. My guards have been loyal to me, and I thought they were incorruptible.
But someone clearly helped Jason. Could it have been one of the servants? Whoever it was, I will find out, and they will pay for their disloyalty. No one will betray me and get away with it. Not on my watch.
“How could he become so strong?” I muttered to myself, pacing back and forth. I tortured him for days and broke him down to his core. He should have been too weak to even stand, let alone escape. But somehow, he did it.
Someone must have helped him and given him the strength he needed. “But who”? I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. I have to find out who has betrayed me.
“Or could it be Maddy? She always goes to visit him in the cell."
"What has she been up to?”
Maddy!" I shouted.
“I wanted to look into her eyes and see if she would lie to me.”
Maddy’s POV
I heard Alpha Zac calling for me from the living room, and my heart sank. I knew what this meant. He had found out that Jason had escaped. I hurried to the living room, trying to prepare myself for what was to come.
"What took you so long?" he snarled, his eyes blazing.
“My apologies, my lord. I was busy with some stuff upstairs," I said, my voice wavering.
“And I suppose you had nothing to do with Jason's escape?" He demanded, taking a step towards me. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. I knew that showing fear would only make things worse.
I straightened my spine, lifting my chin. “I had nothing to do with Jason's escape, my lord. I swear it on my life," I said, my voice firm. He narrowed his eyes, studying my face closely.
"If I find out that you are lying to me, I will make you regret it," he warned, his tone low and menacing. "I am not lying, my lord," I said, holding his gaze.
I stepped closer to Zac, my hands trembling slightly. I knew that this was a dangerous game, but I had to try. Zac had this soft spot for me, and I just knew just how to make him calm and believe me immediately.
I placed a hand on his arm, my voice soft and soothing. "My Lord, please believe me. I would never betray you. I am loyal to you above all else," I said, my eyes pleading.
He stared at me for a long moment, his face unreadable. Then, slowly, his features softened. "I believe you," he said, his voice softer.
"You have been nothing but kind to me. I would never repay that kindness with betrayal, I said, my voice full of surety.
"I know that you hate Jason as much as I do. He is a traitor and a coward. Why would I help him escape?" I continued, my words pleading.
He looked at me for a moment, then sighed. "You are right. I know you are loyal to me. I am sorry for doubting you," he said, his tone apologetic.
"I will pass a message to the Diamond Pack," he said, his voice grim. "They will know that I am not joking about the war to come. I will not rest until the traitors are punished.
I nodded, my heart beating rapidly. "Yes, my lord. I will help you in any way I can," I said, my voice steady. He looked at me and gave me a nod. I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.
I was so afraid that Zac would see through my lies, but he believed me. I felt a surge of relief, mixed with a pang of guilt. I helped Jason escape, even though I knew I had wronged Zac.
I felt a knot of fear in my stomach as I thought about what Zac might do to the Diamond Pack. I knew that I had done something terrible, and I was afraid of the consequences.
“Would Zac take revenge on the pack, or worse?"
Would he hurt Draven? “I hope Draven is doing fine after being shot by the silver bullet.” I shivered, my hands trembling. I didn't know what to do. I just hope that I haven’t made a terrible mistake.
As Zac stood in front of his men, he spoke with a voice that was cold and commanding. "We must show the traitors what happens when they make me look like a fool," he said.
"I want you to kill thirty animals from the field, or even more than that, as an example to others who might consider defying me."
“And then use the animal's blood to pass a message to them.” His men stood in silence, their eyes wide with fear. None of them wanted to disobey his orders, but they also felt a deep sense of concern about what they were being asked to do.
Finally, one of them spoke up.
"Sir, are you sure this is the right course of action?
"Animal blood is just a way to send a message.” Zac said, his voice like ice. "It's a warning to them for crossing me. Just like we did with the Silver Fang pack."
The men still looked uneasy, but they knew that they had no choice but to obey. One of them stepped forward and asked, "Which animals should we take, sir?"
"Any that are available," Zac replied. As I remembered the fate of the Silver Fang pack, I felt a chill of horror run through me.
Zac had never told me exactly what had happened to the pack, but I knew that it had been a brutal and terrible punishment. And now, I fear that the same fate might befall Draven's pack.
But what can I do to stop it? I felt powerless and afraid, and I don’t know what to do next.  In the past, Zac had been more open with me, sharing his plans and thoughts.
But lately, he has become more secretive, keeping his plans to himself. And now, I know that he has something terrible planned for Draven and his pack. But there was no way to warn them, no way to stop what was coming.
I felt like a prisoner, trapped and helpless, unable to do anything to protect them, especially my friend Jason. I left the living room and went upstairs to my room.
Maybe if I made one of the guards very close to me or even seduced him in the process, he could give me information about Zac’s plans. But how would I do it? I needed a way to get close to him first to earn his trust.
I started to think of all the ways I could gain the guard’s sympathy, trying to think of something that would work. “But what if the guard reports me to Zac?” I thought to myself. His guards are way too loyal to him.
But if I could manipulate Zac, who would not fall for my sneaky tricks?
