Chapter 6 6
Alpha Draven’s POV
It was Reina, my long-time friend from the pack. A smile crept onto my face as I thought about how much I missed our conversations. I wondered how she knew I was back in town.
News always seemed to fly fast in the pack, and I wasn't really surprised. As I read her message, I felt a mix of excitement and curiosity about what she wanted to talk about.
Maybe she had news to share, or perhaps she just wanted to catch up. Either way, I was ready to see what Reina had to say. I quickly typed back to Reina, "Can’t wait to see you too," feeling a rush of excitement.
But then I dropped my phone on the couch, the soft thud echoing in the quiet room. I stood up and made my way to my room, but I paused outside Hazel’s door. I felt a pull to check on her.
I pushed the door open carefully, not wanting to wake her. As I stepped inside, I saw her lying on the bed, looking battered and worn. My heart sank.
I knew she was going through a lot, and I would do anything to help her, to bring back the spark she used to have. I walked over and watched her breathe in and out, her chest rising and falling softly.
Without thinking, I reached out and stroked her hair gently. I wasn’t sure why I did it, but it felt right. I wanted her to feel cared for, to know that she wasn’t alone in this.
In that moment, I hoped she could sense my support, my promise to be there for her as she fought to find herself again. I gently tucked Hazel in, making sure she was warm and comfortable.
After a moment of watching her, I quietly left the room and headed to mine. It had been a long day, and I was ready to rest. I took a quick shower, letting the warm water wash away the stress of the day, then climbed into bed.
But he couldn’t seem to sleep, and his phone buzzed again. It had become a routine since I got back—everyone texting me all the time. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the screen.
This time, it was a call from my childhood friend, someone I had grown up with. I sighed, thinking, 'Already?'
After a moment of hesitation, I picked up the call. "Draven!" I heard Robin’s voice booming through the phone. He was one of the few friends who could shout at me like that without any worry.
"Where the hell did you go? Here I was thinking you cared about me." I chuckled, knowing he always had a way of making me laugh, even when I was still half asleep.
"I had stuff to do, Robin, important stuff," I replied, trying to keep it vague.
"Much more important than leaving your old buddy here? Did you catch a Luna or something?" Robin asked, sounding curious.
"What's the fun in telling you? You’re already buzzing with excitement; just tell me what’s up," he said, wanting to steer the conversation away from me.
"Well, it’s about the Labyrinth family; you won’t believe who’s here with me right now." His voice was full of excitement, and I could tell he was really worked up.
Robin always got like this when something crazy was happening. "What’s going on, Robin? Don’t leave me hanging!" I urged, eager to hear what was happening.
"I'll leave you hanging as much as I want to, but I'll talk about the daughter of the Labyrinth family; I don't know if you know her, Hazel; well, she just came back today and caused an absolute mess for her family and then proceeded to reject her mate," Robin said, laughing over the phone.
I rubbed his head in frustration. He knew Robin had to be drinking again. "Why should I be bothered by her rejecting her mate Robin? These things happen all the time," I concluded, seeing no sense in what he was trying to make.
"The person rejected is your nephew Adrian, and he's sitting here right now, having a drink." My expression darkened. "Is Draven there right now?" I asked for assurance.
"Yeah, he is."
"I'm on my way."

Third Person POV
"You don't really think she broke up the engagement, right?" Thaila said as she stood in the rain beside Adrian, he felt a bit out of sorts; he had expected her to break up the engagement; he even wanted it.
But rejecting him was something entirely else that he hadn't expected; it left him feeling numb and out of sorts. He turned to Thalia, seeing as she was shivering in the cold and slowly getting wet.
He pulled off his jacket and handed it over to her. "Thank you." He looked again at the direction in which the black car had driven off too; he was fairly sure, but he wasn't. It had been so many years, so why come now, uncle?
"You think that was your uncle’s car? Well, I don't think so, Adrian. I mean, it's your uncle; he hasn't been around in years; he can't just come back and take away a random girl he saw in the street," Thalia said.
Her words made sense to him, but something else kept telling him to check. To look, it was his wolf; his wolf has never been wrong, so why now?
He needed to get answers differently, and there was only one man who could give him the answers he needed. He slowly began walking to the car parks.
"Where are you going, Adrian? You can't just leave me here." Thalia followed after him; he turned around, forgetting she had been there for a second.
"I'm sorry, Thalia, I really have to go see my Uncle Robin; there's something we have to discuss with each other, but I'll call you once I'm done with him," he assured her, escorting her back to the mansion before getting into his car and driving off to his uncle's house.
The only man that could ever joke around with Alpha Draven and get away with it, Robin. He sped his car as fast as he could, ignoring all the traffic signs. Within an hour, he pulled up into the estate of Robin.
He carefully parked his car and walked into the mansion. The butler welcomed him and directed him to the personal suite of Robin. "Welcome, child, it's been too long since I last saw you; how have you been?" He asked gleefully.
Adrain faked a smile, hoping he could hide things from him; it always bothered him how well-informed Robin was. "How is your chest?" Robin said with a knowing smirk, Adrian's smile almost breaking off, "It's okay, Uncle."
"Why not sit down and have a drink? I know why you're here already," Robin said whilst he poured a cup of whisky with two cubes of ice.
"You do?" Adrain asked surprised. "Yes, to answer one of your questions, your Uncle Draven is indeed back from the goddess knows where he went," he said, then picked up his phone and left the room.
Adrian felt increasingly on guard; he never felt comfortable around this man, and it wasn't going to change. A few moments later, Robin came back. "Sorry, I took too long; I had to get a package," he said, nodding at the door.
Adrian looked at the door, his expression frozen in shock. "Un...uncle Draven," the words slowly escaped his lips.
"Son, you look well."
The two men stood at a distance in front of each other, then tension in the air went up by levels, and all the time, Dante sat at his table with a cup of wine in hand, sipping slowly with a smile on his face.
