Chapter 26 26
Third Person POV
Adrian stood stunned by her reaction. Of everything that had happened tonight, this was the most jarring event he had witnessed today. He stepped back a bit, shocked and mortified.
"No wait, I can explain Thalia." Adrian reached out, trying to hold on to her, but she kept taking steps back, not wanting to talk to him or come close to him at the moment.
He looked at her and slowly walked away; he didn't feel the need to go back with Thalia and her family, but also not the need to meet up with his family.
"Thalia, please wait," he called out to her voice from behind. "I didn't mean it that way; I wasn't even aware of what was happening," he said, but realized how stupid that sounded.
That was his uncle; of course he would be seen as a culprit. He kept trying to get her attention, but it was pointless. At that singular moment, when he had out all his hopes, future, and dreams for her, it was gone.
He looked back at the mansion where he had just come from. The night was dark and getting late, and he imagined how long it would take before his unclenoticed him if he decided to stay at the house that night.
One foot after another, he pushed himself onwards back to the mansion. He walked through the front door and, face to face with his uncle, stood, eyes piercing the darkness, looking directly at him.
"You're back?" He asked Adrian, and Adrian looked away dejectedly. He felt ashamed about how he had portrayed himself upstairs, just to show weakness again in front of his uncle.
"Not entirely," he responded. "For how long?" Draven asked; his uncle’s face showed no contempt, not judgment, just simply uninterested.
"Tell me to get my head together," he replied. He half expected his uncleto reject him, just like Thalia had, the same way Hazel had.
He felt a pang of loneliness, the kind that came, knowing that nobody wanted to put in the same effort he would to be with them. "You can stay for as long as you wish," Alpha Draven spoke suddenly, then walked away.
"So long as you follow the rules of the pack," he added as he disappeared into the darkness of the hall.
"You're not going to chase me away?" Adrian asked; he was surprised his unclehad simply accepted him, just like that, after everything that happened.
"You are my nephew, aren't you? It's your house as much as it is mine; use it as you please, Adrian," he said, his voice faded slowly as he walked away.
"Uuhhm"
Adrian stood speechless. He took a few steps in and walked towards the stairs. He had fun memories here, memories he wished he had forgotten.
It was the reason he hadn't stayed in this house after his unclehad left—the memory of his mother cracking him as they both played around, running down the stairs happily. It was a beautiful memory, but deeply painful.
"Welcome, Master Adrian." He heard a voice just behind him speak. Adrian darted away from the door as fast as he could, claws out ready to attack. He focused his eyes a little more and noticed who it was.
"Damn you, Walter," he cursed as he stood up, retracting his claws. He had forgotten how random Walter could show up; he was so sure that Walter did this intentionally, for the pure purpose of amusement.
"Regard it as a special welcome from me," he bent slightly as he greeted Adrian. "Your room is ready," he gestured upwards the stairs.
"Wait, how did you..." Adrian asked in surprise. Walter simply straightened his body and began walking up the stairs, and this was one of the most unnerving things about Walter; he seemed to know everything about everyone.
"Walter?"
"Yes, young master," he replied. "Did you know I would spend the night here?" Adrian asked, Walter simply chuckled, "It's nothing so much as that; I'm just observant by nature," he responded.
Adrian decided to leave it at that and followed Walter up; luckily, his rooms were far off from both his uncle’s and Hazel's rooms. They walked to the left wing of the house; by the corner there was a door.
He couldn't forget this room, even if he tried with all his might; it was his mother's room, the room he had slept numerous times with her in. "Why?" Adrian asked.
"I apologise for the inconvenience, Young Master, but the other rooms haven't been completely taken care of," Walter said. Adrian didn't believe him one bit; he knew it had to be an order from his uncle; that was the only way it made sense.
"I shall be taking my leave now; see you in the morning, young Master," Walter said as he walked away. Adrian stood looking at the door; he was a bit hesitant to open it, and for good reason.
He had promised himself to never come back here again, but yet here he was. He inhaled deeply, then exhaled. He bent the doorknob, opening it slowly.
The room was exactly how he had left it; not a single thing had changed. Sure, the room has been cleaned countless times, but every damned thing about the room reminded him of his mother.
"I need to sleep, he said to himself, climbing the door. He slowly drifted off to sleep. He tried his best to block out all the nostalgic memories that came with him being on the bed, and soon enough he was snoring deeply in his sleep.

Jason’s POV
I kept thinking back to the conversation I had with Maddy my long lost friend. I found out she had been sold to her father as a slave to Zac. She he told me the plans Zac has for Alpha Draven, but I had a mixed feelings about it.
I didn’t know if she truly wanted to help me or it was another trap. Was our pack truly going to be attacked by Zac? I knew I had to do something. I had been sent here by Alpha Draven to come spy on the blue moon pack.
They had been terrorizing us for a very long time and Adrian couldn’t handle it alone, but thank the moon goddess Alpha Draven came back from wherever he was. Anyways, I was unfortunate to get caught.
It was a shame that his most trusted warrior was trapped in the blue moon pack. I had failed the Alpha and I deserve whatever happens to me here. But I had to reach them. I tried connecting with Alpha Draven immediately through our link.
Alpha Draven and I had a link where we were able to connect and tell things to each other. Not just with him but also with some prominent members of the pack, and it was useful in situations just like this. Our pack was different from other packs.
We go the extra mile just to keep the pack safe. I had been kept here, but I would still be able to communicate with the pack, though not efficiently. Seeing that I could not connect with Draven, my eyes narrowed, and a tinge of worry grew within me.
I knew Zac couldn't reach them because I'd have been in the same position as him. I wasn't scared of being in this pack all locked up. I was a strong wolf who had been through a lot for a long time and wasn't scared of death.
I tried to connect with one of the members of the pack. Don't get me wrong; I didn't mean that I would be able to have long conversations with them.
It was just a signal that would be sent to them, which would signify that there was an impending danger in the pack. I could sense that the message was received successfully. I let out a sigh of relief.
One of my worries has been laid to rest. Now I just hope that Alpha Draven is alright.
