Chapter 100 100

Chapter 100 100
Maddy's POV
Hazel's eyes widened in surprise, and her voice was filled with disbelief. "Maddy, you must be talking about Jason! Draven’s best Warrior."
I blinked, realising that I had inadvertently described Jason. "Yes, it's Jason. That's his name. How did you know?"
Hazel laughed, shaking her head. "Well, Maddy, you just described him perfectly. And I can't believe it, but it sounds like you might be attracted to him!"
My cheeks flushed, and I quickly shook my head, denying Hazel's assumption. "No, no, no! I could never be attracted to him. He's just so annoying, and I can't stand his teasing! It's like a new way to tease me pops up in his head every time I say a word.”
“Can you believe that while trying to help him escape, he kept teasing me every step of the way? That's low-key bullying, if you ask me."
Hazel raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Maddy, you're blushing! Are you sure you're not attracted to him?" I stammered, feeling my face grow even hotter.
"N-No! I mean, he's just... I don't know. He's annoying, but there's something about him that... I don't know!" I didn't know how to explain it to her.
There is no way I'd ever be attracted to Jason. Who is he anyway for me to feel attracted? Hazel laughed, a knowing smile on her face. "Well, Maddy, sometimes our hearts can be a little confusing.”
“But it's okay to feel attracted to someone, even if they annoy you. Just remember to trust your instincts and take things slow." I sighed, feeling a mix of confusion and embarrassment.
"I guess you're right, Hazel. But for now, let's just focus on more important things and topics and forget about this Jason topic. All I know is that I definitely do not have any form of feelings for him, and that's all there is to it."
Hazel nodded, her smile filled with understanding. "Of course, Maddy. I trust your better judgment. And don't worry, I won't tease you about it anymore."
"Thank you." I said it with appreciation. With a sense of relief, I leaned back against the bed. We continued chatting, our laughter filling the room as we shared stories and secrets, like in the old days.
We were both laughing our hearts out when a maid suddenly came in. "Good afternoon, Miss Hazel, Miss Maddy." She greeted.
The maids had already known my name, yet they remain unfamiliar to me. "What's wrong, Annie?" Hazel suddenly said. I guess Hazel was already used to this place, not that I blamed her. She had been here for months.
And this Annie girl—why do I feel like I've seen her before? Maybe... That's it! She was part of the maidens ooglin at Jason while he was working out.
I suddenly felt a bit of apprehension in her presence. For some reason, it greatly annoyed me as I thought of how many times they had possibly found a way to sneak a peek at Jason.
"Well, I wanted to know if you would be going to the garden soon. I could tell the chef to prepare some snacks and tea." She offered.
"That would be nice." Hazel replied. "Get it done. Make it for two, please, that is, if Maddy would be accompanying me.”
Draven's POV
I slumped back in my worn-out office chair, exhaustion weighing heavily on my shoulders. The past few weeks had been relentless, with countless pack-related matters demanding my attention as the Alpha.
The threat of rogue werewolves also caused a dilemma, and now it seems like every day brings news of another pack member being targeted. Stress had become my unwelcome companion. And I just needed a break.
Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed the soft knock on my open office door. Startled, I looked up to see Jason standing there with a concerned expression on his face.
Finally, someone I can actually talk to about my problems at the moment. Someone I wouldn't feel awkward talking to about it. "Hey, Draven . What's up?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine care.
I sighed, rubbing my temples. "Stress, man. All stress," I replied wearily. "I feel like I'm drowning in it. There's just so much to deal with, and the pack members are being threatened by Richard and his stupid gang.
I can't shake off this feeling of being overwhelmed by it all. I need a break, man." Jason nodded understandingly and stepped further into the room.
"I get it, Draven. Being an Alpha is never easy, especially during times like these, and I think by now you know that best. But remember, I'm not just your warrior; I'm also your friend.”
“We got this, okay," he reassured me, his voice filled with unwavering support. I looked up at Jason, grateful for his presence. He had always been there for me, offering guidance and advice when I needed it the most.
"You're right, Jason," I said, determination flickering in my tired eyes. "The pack needs me to be strong, even when I'm feeling drained. I can't let my anxieties seep into their lives. Especially now that I have a greater score to settle with a lot of enemies now."
Jason nodded in agreement. "Exactly. They're looking up to you, Draven . It's important for you to address their concerns and provide reassurance. We can't keep them in a constant state of security consciousness. It's not healthy for anyone."
I pondered his words for a moment, realising that Jason was right. It was time for me to take action—to gather the pack members and provide them with the support they needed.
A speech to reassure them that I have heard their complaints and I fully understand them. "You're right, Jason," I said, determination firming my voice.
"I need to talk to them to calm their fears and let them know that we're doing everything we can to keep them safe."
Jason smiled, a glimmer of relief shining in his eyes. "That's the spirit, man. I'll help you organise a conference with the pack members. We'll get everyone together and address their concerns head-on."
"No need for that." I replied, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. I reached for my phone and quickly tapped out a message to our trusted messenger, instructing him to arrange a conference with the pack members.
It was time to gather the pack and urge them to support one another and to remind ourselves of the strength we possessed as a united front. Against whatever brutality Zac had in store
Maddy's POV
I went out to take a sneak peek at the garden before coming to see you. But then I ran into Jason, that ghost brain." I was recalling the event that happened earlier.
"Hmmm... anyways, did you see the gazebo there?" She asked, and I shook my head negatively. "Let's go; I'll show you." She offered, and she then dragged me up from bed. She is quite strong and agile to do that at her present stage.
As we strolled through the garden, accompanied by a maid and Hazel's personal guard, I couldn't help but scan the surroundings, discreetly searching for that irritating man I had encountered earlier.
I tried my best to mask my curiosity as I kept looking side to side, stealing glances from every soul. But it seemed like Hazel had caught on.
She turned to me with a mischievous glint in her eyes and asked, "Maddy, who are you searching for?"
My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly averted my gaze, attempting to act like I had no idea what she was busy talking about. "Oh, no one, Hazel. Just enjoying the beautiful garden," I replied, my voice attempting to sound casual.
Hazel's eyes narrowed slightly, and I knew she didn't believe me. She had a way of seeing through my façade, even when I thought I was being clever.
But I wasn't about to admit that I couldn't stop thinking about that annoying man, Jason. I needed him out of my head and mind. I wanted to prove that he meant nothing to me, because that is the truth.
