Chapter 57 Find her!
Chapter 57 Find her!
AXEL'S POV
I was right, the next words that came from my son made me want to murder him and rip him into shreds. Jake froze between us, he looked at me, then back at Drary who felt like he had come up with the greatest idea. “You have to calm down, you remember the promise you made.” Jake mindlinked me
“I am going to kill him.” I responded and my wolf was with me on this one. In fact, he was oddly quiet and on the surface, waiting for me to shift.
“What do you mean by that, Drary.” I flashed him a cold smile, raising my hand which had my claws on full display.
“Yes father, think about it-” he was rushing to my desk but Jake suddenly intercepted, holding him in place.
“I would advise you not to get close right now-” Jake's expression was that of sympathy and of course it was directed to Drary.
“What do you mean?” I wonder what suddenly ate his brains out cause Drary pushed against Jake trying to break free from him. “It is a perfectly good idea, if whoever is sending the threats thinks it's Thallyne, then Gwendolyn can be safe.” The rage within me kept building the more Drary spoke about using the woman that I had chosen as bait in order to save that stupid concubine of his. “And even if anything happens, that's one less mouth to feed, besides she's just a wolfless omega, of no use to any of us.”
The more he struggled to break free and continued to speak, the more Jake was forced to hold him in place.
“Even if she wounds up dead-”
I growled loudly, the tension in the room increased and the pressure from me fell on Drary and unfortunately Jake who was still holding on to him. The pressure increased, until Drary legs were weakening under him, he fell to his knees, staring at me in confusion.
Of course he wasn't aware of what he had done wrong and I wasn't prepared to explain to him.
I retracted my aura for a few seconds giving Jake time to get out of range. “Fat-” Drary was pressured into kneeling, he tried to speak but wasn't able to get the first word out before he began to struggle to breath.
“How dare you?!” I stood up, walking towards him, the more I approached him, the pressure on him increased, sweat had already pooled under him. “You speak about using a fellow pack member as bait for your stupid chosen mate. You are speaking of using your fated mate as bait! How dare you?!” At the end of my sentence, I was already standing a few steps away from Drary, the pressure was already too much for him to handle.
His bone began breaking, the sound echoing in the room as he tried to initiate a shift to his wolf form.
“Don't even think about shifting, this pain would be borne by you and you alone but you can force a shift if you want to break all two hundred and six bones in your body.” A wisp of alpha command was embedded in my voice.
Drary's shift suddenly stopped.
In the end, I still remained his alpha and leader and unless he broke the oath binding him to this pack, I still held a lot of control over him.
Drary was stuck mid shift, one of his eyes was bright yellow, his legs and hands were already changing with fur on them, his fangs were already exposed.
Drary whimpered, he was stuck mid shift and unable to speak human words but if I could guess what he was saying, he was trying to apologize.
I turned around, ran a hand through my head and let out a deep breath. “Sometimes I regret ever meeting your mother, allowing her to raise you for a few years has led to you having a twisted personality. You don't even understand what must be sacrificed and you don't know that the pack must come first. No matter what I did, you never attended Alpha training, hence you being the way you are.”
“Alpha.” Jake called out to me
“Speak -” My voice was deeper than usual, and the alpha command was still very much active so everything I said would become a command.
Even if I asked Jake to go throw himself off a building, he would not have the mind to hesitate- not even once.
This is one of the perks of being Alpha.
It had a lot of advantages, even over some lesser Alphas but there are still people who wanted the position in order to misuse this ability.
“The half shift is going to cause a strain on the young Alpha's body. He doesn't have the ability to deal with the consequences that this might have on his body. It might lead to him being bedridden for days.” Jake responded, choosing his words in a way that wouldn't increase the rage within me.
“Then let him suffer.” I declared, returning to my seat.
Thallyne
The only woman who has caused my heart to move after a very long time, she has saved me in ways that not many would understand but yet, this son of a bit whose existence was partly my fault wanted to use her as bait.
No one but Jake knew how deranged and possessive I was.
If I had my way, I would have locked Thallyne in my room, never allowing anyone the honor of seeing her or even talking to her.
I didn't know when these strong feelings appeared but by the time I noticed, they had already begun to sprout and it was already uncontrollable.
I could never let her find out about this, she didn't know that the main reason why I was still hesitant to mark her and claim her as mine was because of all the dark thoughts I was having. I wanted her to have her fill of all the fun and pleasure, before-
A harsh pain came from my chest, my hands instantly went there. I took deep breaths trying to soothe the pain. The pain was almost similar to the one from last night but it was stronger-
What is going on?
“Are you there?” I mindlinked my wolf but as expected there was no response, just like last night.
Whimpers coming from Drary broke me out of my thoughts, the smell of fresh blood filled the air. As I looked at him, I wasn't surprised by what I saw. The repercussions of a mid-shift had begun.
His skin had broken in various places and blood flowed out uncontrollably. Tears of blood rolled out of his eyes. I have never experienced it but I knew the pain he was going through was agonizing, imagine having to remain stuck between your human body and wolf form without having a chance to choose one.
Both skeleton structures would clash, organ placement would clash and all this would result in tearing of the inner body. I couldn't hurt him physically or command him to his death but that didn't mean I couldn't punish him as his Alpha
“Boss, please. I'm sure he has learnt his lesson.” Jake pleaded, approaching me slowly.
“He deserves it.” I responded and looked away from Drary's sorry sight
“Think about her, I'm sure she would not want this.” Jake mindlinked me.
At the thought of her smiling face, the remaining anger within me melted away like snow on a sunny day. “Fine.”
“Thank you Boss.” I'm surprised that Jake would plead for him, since he always held a grudge against him for the incident. One that had led him to losing his mate.
“You should thank her.” I responded to him. My eyes fell on Drary, taking a deep breath, I spoke. “You can revert to your human form.” The change was almost instantaneous, the fangs, and fur disappeared and his eyes regained their brown color.
This body couldn't remain upright and he fell to the side, Jake rushed to his side, placed a finger under his nose then sighed. “Thank goddess, he's still breathing.”
I scoffed at him. “Of course he's still breathing, if I killed him, I would be breaking my promise to her.”
“Boss, don't you think you went too far this time? He might fall into coma”
“I obviously don't care. It would be good riddance if that happened.”
The sharp pain came once again, this time I almost saw black. I sank into the pack mindlink to scan through the pack. The pain I felt must have come from someone in the pack, someone who was unknowingly channeling their pain to just me since Jake seemed fine. But everything seemed fine with everyone in the pack and everyone’s presence was accounted for which meant that nobody was dead.
“It's Thallyne! Something is wrong with her! FIND HER!!” My wolf explained in my head.
