Chapter 56 Sm I correct?
Thallyne's POV
For the next ten minutes, I watched Lucas and Luther argue about who should eat the fruit first, they kept passing the task back to each other and even though I had asked to do it, they bluntly said no…
“If you guys keep this up, I might be forced to go out there and get my own food,” my stomach rumbled at that moment to prove a point. “You see!” I pointed at my stomach.
“Sorry Thallyne, if only someone could just decide to eat this,” Luther playfully glared at him. “It's not like I would try to poison you intentionally.”
“Says the person that tried to kill me off using a peach.” Lucas gave him a critical look.
Luther lets out a very fake gasp, his expression was comical. “What do you mean by that? Who told you to try them out first and how was I supposed to know that you would swell like a balloon if you ate a peach?”
Luther and I burst into laughter at the same time. “I’m sor-sorry.” I apologized to Lucas in-between laughs . Lucas slowly shook his head, letting out a laugh of his own. “It's alright, we were just kids and Luther just awakened his gift, we ran off thinking that we could survive on our own in an unknown location- which was no man's land. We almost starved because neither of us could hunt more than prey smaller than us.”
Luther approached me, with the fruit in his hand. “You can have it, don't worry it's safe.”
I smiled at him, collected it and took a big bite. The sweetness exploded in my mouth. It tasted like sugar but it was the more natural type. “This is so good!” I managed to say in-between bites, the juice rolled down the sides of my mouth from my attempt.
Luther smiled at me, reached out with a napkin and wiped my mouth. “I know, it's a mango.”
“Oh” I gasped in awe. I was almost envious of him, he was like a walk-in gourmet but he was only limited to natural foods.
“We have to go back to the pack, or our absence will be noticed . Thallyne, have you decided what you want?”
Luther looked at me pleadingly, taking both of my hands into his. “Would you like to come with us? What if anything happens to you while we are gone?”
Once again, I've been given a chance and a choice. “I don't want to leave.”
Luther slowly let go of my hands. “Why?” His voice dropped like he just heard the worst news of his life.
I looked away, avoiding his piercing gaze. “I have a reason, but I can't say it right now. But you have to believe me, I'm being treated a lot better and it's safe for me to stay here.”
“I wonder how important he is for you to choose to stay.” Lucas suddenly said, the corner of his mouth curled into a smile.
What!
How did he find out?
“Am I correct?”
I found myself nodding under his gaze. “Yes.”
“What? What are you talking about?” Luther looked between me and Lucas.
I deeply sighed, I didn't intend for them to find out this way and the worst part was I couldn't even tell them who it was. Hearing that it was the alpha should be enough to convince Luther and get rid of all his worries.
“Does the alpha know about this person? Would you like us to meet with him to determine if he's good enough for you?” The sadness on his face was nowhere to be found, in its place was calmness, his eyes were warm and reassuring. Luther was back to big brother mode.
I hesitated with the forest question, not sure what to say. The man is the Alpha, I was about to blurt out the truth but discovered that I just couldn't. Instead, I nodded. “The alpha approves of him and it's not necessary to meet him.”
Luther just closed his eyes, took in deep long breaths and finally opened them. “ Would he be able to keep you safe, your treatment isn't over and we can't remain on the pack for too long.”
“You are leaving?” Surprisingly, the thought of not seeing them for a very long time left me feeling very sad.
This time Lucas answered. “Yes we have to go. We have already overstayed our welcome and I'm sure Alpha Axel wouldn't want us longer than intended.”
“But-” I hesitated.
“There is nothing you can do to convince him otherwise.” He rubbed the bridge of his nose and his brow furrowed like he was thinking of something important. “In fact he has been nice to host us for a week.”
“Lucas, what are we going to do? You are a bit close to the Alpha, can't you convince him to let us stay a few more days.”
“Wait, let me think of something, ”
I have a solution.
There was a long silence in the cabin, with everyone engrossed in their own thoughts. I couldn't speak for the others but I already thought of what Axel might think if he sees me returning with two men, one who was an Alpha.
In the end, I could only choose to go see him on my own, tell him the truth and explain why I kept everything from him.
Hopefully, he wouldn't stay angry for so long.
And he might allow Luther and Lucas to stay for a few more eyes.
“I doubt there is much I can say to convince him, but I can try. Let's go see him, and if possible we could report this assault cause whoever it is shouldn't be left off the hook. I'm curious to know what Alpha Axel might do to him.”
I shuddered at the maniacal smile that appeared on his face. After eating the mango, all that was left behind was the seed, I wiped my hands carefully with a napkin and carefully slipped out of the bed. “I have to go back.”
The thought of seeing Axel brought a smile to my face, a finger clicking on my face snapped me back to reality. “We are not done here, we still have to meet whoever it is that has stolen your heart-” Luther wore a sad smile on his face.
“Oh stop it Luther, she is not a child and if she has met someone she loves, it's up to us to support her and make sure she is not hurt in the process.”
“This means we get to beat him up if he does anything to hurt you, unlike that royal prat, if not for the fact that his father was alpha and we were on his territory, we would have made him go on his knees and apologize to you.” I could hear the concern in both their voices, it made me feel so warm on the inside.
“Fine.” I laughed inwardly thinking of what their expression might be when they found out it was Axel.
I hugged them both, thanked them for their presence before leaving. When I arrived at the maid's quarters, Ruby suddenly approached me, with a smile that didn't make me comfortable in any way.“There you are, Sylvia wants to meet you in the main pack house, said it's something important.”
“What?” I stared at Ruby warily. “Why would she want to see me there?” Sylvia knew I always avoided that place cause it meant a higher chance to run into Gwendolyn.
“How should I know?” Ruby rolled her eyes in displeasure. “She said it's important, it's the closet room on the third floor.” Without waiting for my response, she turned around and left.
Why would Sylvia want to see me there?
Everything within me told me something was off but why would Ruby lie to me using Sylvia. I could only go there and find out.
It was just a few minutes away from the pack house. As soon as I arrived, I saw various teens in the living room, loud music blasting from the speakers, some were watching movies, others were just talking and laughing, the living room was in complete disarray.
“Third floor, closet room.” I muttered to myself, walking to the stairs.
“Damn mama, you look good!” A kid with rainbow colored hair whistled as I walked past, his eyes were glued on my breasts.
“Would you mind going out with me?” He winked at me.
“Who knows? I'll think about it.” I giggled like a shy maiden as I left their sights, taking the stairs to the third floor.
“Third floor, closet room. This is it. I wonder why she wants me here.”
As I raised my hand to knock, the door suddenly swung open, revealing the person I least wanted to see at the moment. “Why are you-” Before I could break into a run, I was pulled into the room and the door slammed shut
