Chapter 96

Autumn

My Uncle Joseph drove the car into town, while Oliver had his clothes in the backseat. He shifted, trying to catch Edna, who was still faster than everyone else. I was now under her armpit like a football like she used to when I was a little kid. I had always wondered how none of my family besides my parents aged, while everyone else seemed forever youthful.

I head a police car pull up slowly behind us, and he blared his siren twice as a warning.

“Edna Frost, put her down, don’t you see she wants to ride her mate.” Said Officer Frost through his car’s speaker, who I could tell was having a kick out of teasing me too!

“I do not!” I screamed, wiggling, trying to get free, hearing everyone giggle.

Dann your fast. Panted Oliver in a link meant for everyone to hear. I still hadn’t figured out how to do it without ‘screaming.’

“Not even grandfather can catch me Dead Boy.” She giggled, swiftly putting me on Oliver’s back. He wagged his tail. His fur was really soft, but it had a texture to it. It wasn’t rough though. I felt like I was on a silky horse barebacked.

No kidding. He beamed, though I could feel someone’s breath on the back of my neck. That old man can eat my snow. He said standing a little taller.

Whoever it was let a long drawn out sigh come out his nose. I suppose you want to race then? He said walking to stand next to us. My head was at his eye level. Mayor Alpha was huge.

Hold on. Oliver linked me in private, digging his paws in the ground. Hold on tight.

Eat my snow old man! He common linked, and I could barely hold on. I laughed, seeing Oliver pretty much have to outrun my entire family, and anyone else who happened to be on the street and wanted to join. Wolves who weren’t shifted took off their clothes, carrying them in their mouth, seeing him leap over a bush, to the intersection where grandpa Phillip lived. It was a ways off on a side road in the woods about a mile away from the town, but they were right behind.

Edna ran past him, kicking snow in his face, laughing as she did so. She was a beautiful white wolf, as were about 10 of the others. There were even brown and gray wolves too, but I think those were wolves from the pack and my dad’s side.

Grandpa Phillip ran what seemed like full speed, jumping in front of Oliver from the side, and then shifting, running past Edna, and touching the door.

Oliver skidded, just short of the door, and I got off. The moment I did, Phillip jumped on Oliver, grabbing a large handful of snow, and shoving it in his face. “Eat My snow!” He growled, and Oliver shifted to try and shove him off, but it was no use, the pack turned it into a snowball fight. I tried my best, but it was one against twenty. My mate was pretty much a snow man by the time they left him alone.

It was all fun and games until I sneezed, and I was made to go inside. The house was warm, and I made sure to wipe my feet. “Did you make it here ok?! Lady above you’re freezing!” Yelled my mom, hugging me tightly. Winter growled softly, and I let it out this time. I was around family, and they knew wolf better than I did.

“Awe Winter woke up!” Yelled my Uncle Damion, Frigus and Diana’s oldest son. He was huge, looking exactly like Phillip, but a little tanner. My family literally blended in with the snow even in human form.

“I heard that!” He complained, getting on shorts, tossing Oliver a pair.

“Welcome to the side of your family we kept secret… sorry.” Said Frigus, patting my head. “It was my suggestion, and the rest respected it…” He said quietly, but I shook my head.

“No, let’s not spoil today with that, I understand why you did it. Let’s plan my wedding and I want to hear about more family stories!” I protested, and he gave me a soft smile.

“Fair enough. Daimon put a few logs on the fire and Edna, get me the photo album under father’s desk.” He commanded, and they ran off.

We had cookies, while everyone sat on the couch or in a spot they found somewhere around, sharing things with me about all the family I didn’t know I had. Frigus has three pups Daimon, Edina, and grandpa Marcus. I knew my aunt Marry, Uncle Joseph and grandma Daisy… and my cousin Martin and so on. My mom didn’t have a wolf, neither did my dad, but I loved them all the same. Their parents were omegas, and also mostly human. It made me mostly human, but I had just enough wolf’s blood that the Lady gave me Winter…

I was glad for that. I may never shift, but it made me feel special that I had her. She wagged her tail, happy that my mate sat quietly next to me, and happy that I appreciated her. She was also glad that she had all her family with her.

“Autumn don’t forget tonight is also very special… tonight I will give you my blood, that you can change into a true Omega, maybe even a wolf who can shift in a few years. Said Phillip, but Oliver became alert.

“Phillip, with all due respect, my mate is too human for that.” He protested, but Phillip raised his hand.

“I know. I intend on giving her a few drops to see if she can take it. My blood has healing properties, and I’ve used it on even my wolfless granddaughter without issue.” He smiled, and she put her hand on my shoulder.

“I didn’t have a wolf, but it did give me what I needed to have you without any issues.” She said with a small smile.

“But you’re human.” Said Oliver.

“That doesn’t mean I couldn’t partake while pregnant. I was hoping Autumn would have been turned before she was born, but we came up with the idea a tad late.” She smiled.

“Duly noted.” He said politely, and my stomach growled. All I’d had was the gas station coffee and some cookies since I got up, but before I could protest, I was swept off my feet by my mate, who insisted he cook for me, butting heads with Phillip.

“Let me.” He said, while Oliver crossed his arms.

“Fine.” He gave in, sitting next to me. I put my hand on his, and he kissed me on the forehead.

“I can sense you’re untrusting.” Said Edna. Phillip only listened while he put spaghetti in a pot.

“No that isn’t it… I don’t trust myself. I am the Dead One. I am the first venomous wolf. Agitation can trigger my claws, and I don’t want to cook now.” He admitted.

“Frosted Ones, and any who bare a title should be immune, but she isn’t complete yet.” Said Edna putting her finger to her chin. “I don’t know why when I sniff you, I still smell that you’re a creature from the Lord of Light.” She said a little confused.

“He may create many, but he does not like giving them away.” Mumbled Phillip. “Her fully soul bonding to the night means he loses her permanently. It would also make her pups full wolf.”

“But I’m mostly human.” I said looking at him curiously. “I thought I would turn anyway.”

“Yes, but turning requires a bit of flesh conversion. All the human in you turns to wolf, It’s why it can take So long for one born a little wolf. A compromise was made to make you, now you technically ask for him to give up More. What I give in a way is an insurance policy. I don’t like that you feel like you’re in a kind of limbo. Usually by now you would smell more wolf than this, and I would be able to tell that it was successful.”

“Phillip, I think our grandpup is wolf enough.” Said Susanna, my grandma.

“I trust your judgement… but this is her choice.” He mumbled.

“I’m happy as I am.” I said before being quiet…. I would never be a wolf, but I could never go back to being human as I was.

“You will remain in-between then. You are Frosted, but cannot access it as you are, and if you die, you cannot go where your mate is. Winter will, but you will not.” Said Phillip. “I don’t mean that to pressure you either. You must know, and I will not hide things from you.”

“I understand.” I mumbled.

“I don’t care either way Autumn… I have you now, and I love you. Whatever you decide is fine.” He looked at me lovingly, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“I don’t know what’s best…. But I choose you. Nothing can change that.” I said, having a plate put in front of me. It was massive, and the sauce smelled homemade, and I’d seen him pull out a jar that wasn’t labeled.

“And I you.” He smiled, raising his glass of water.

“This reminds me of us dear.” Said Susanna, and Phillip chuckled.

“No I remember… more rock throwing on your part.” He mumbled, and she looked playfully guilty.
