Chapter 93
Autumn
“Just hear me out.” Said Elder Marcos.
We were both frustrated. Me, Clint, David, Chase and Elder Marcos were all in the living room, sharing hot cocoa. I didn’t want to agree to his plan. It wasn’t right. I felt like a coward… but they must have known something they weren’t going to tell me….
“I don’t want to Run away.” I crossed my arms, but Chase agreed with him.
“Alpha is planning something BIG if he wouldn’t even tell me.” Said Beta. “I don’t know what the fallout from that will be.”
“Luna you’re human. Our only weakness is silver… yours is literally everything.” Said Clint. “I don’t mean that offensively either.” He mumbled.
“I don’t take it that way; I know what you mean. Surely you guys must know what he’s doing?” I asked. They all shook their heads.
“Luna, if I knew, I wouldn’t have come.” Said Marcos. “But I have a feeling for him to kick us out, it has to be terrible, and speculation won’t do anything.”
“We only wish for you two to visit your grandfather for only a small while, just until the political wrinkles are ironed out. You won’t be going by yourself, and I know you wouldn’t mind seeing your mother.” Said Chase.
“…. I do… but if you guys are worried… I am too. There’s probably nothing I could do to stop him since he’s already commanded whatever it was too…. Fine. When he gets here I’ll talk to him.” I smiled.
“Finally!” They cheered, and I huffed.
It didn’t take long for him to come with the little strange red eyed witch created from his necklace. Her skin looked like copper scales now…. She was holding his hand…. And it made me jealous.
“That should be enough Master, I mean Alpha.” She smiled, and he patted her head like you would a kid.
“Good. Now use that magic to protect this packhouse. I may have to leave for a little while.” Said Oliver.
She bowed and waved to me. “Hi Mistress! I have to go now.” She skipped to the elevator leaving.
“What was that about?” I asked curiously.
“Preparations. Autumn, would you mind if we took a small trip early?” He asked, linking them and they all got up to leave. They said their goodbyes, waiting for the elevator, and Oliver poured himself a glass of water, drinking some while they all got on once it came back up.
“I was just about to ask you about visiting my family. The others think that you’re planning something …. Really big.” I looked down. He put his half cup of water on the table, and hugged me gently.
“Because I am. I Can’t tell you, so Please Don’t ask. I don’t want someone interrogating you, but know I do this for you.” He mumbled.
“… Then I won’t…. but know that whatever it is I don’t necessarily condone it…” I mumbled.
“I know you wouldn’t, but still….” I stopped him by kissing him on the cheek.
“I’ll still love you.” I hugged him around his neck and he picked me up off my feet. He hugged me close to his body, and I had to wrap my legs around his waist so they wouldn’t dangle.
“Lady Above…” He put me down, and we cuddled for a bit on the couch. I wasn’t paying attention to whatever it was on the TV… neither did he.
“When did the sun come up?” I asked myself… It was so bright I almost felt blinded.
But waking up in his arms made it bearable… we both had fallen asleep on the couch, and his phone had no messages for once. Neither did mine. I shot my family a quick text that we would be visiting soon, but Oliver held me like he was going to run away.
My phone ringing kind of woke him. “Autumn!” Yelled my mom. “When are you and your mate coming over?!” She sounded so happy. I’d been gone a while…. They must have really missed me.
“Maybe in a few days?” I said more as a question. I wouldn’t tell her why though… As far as they would know, this was for fun.
“Will you have your marriage ceremony here?” She asked. And I hadn’t thought of that.
“Yes, we will.” Said Oliver sleepily. Mom Squealed.
“We’ll rent out the chapel for you and Warrior Ming is a Lunar Priest.” Said dad proudly.
“My Lady you can wear my dress and I can bake the cake!” Said mom. I heard clapping. She must have been jumping up and down.
I think they meant Brother Ming… He was a preacher that did the night services…. We didn’t go to church often but when we did, they took me to day service, and they went to his. “You mean the night preacher?” I asked.
“Sorry about not letting you attend… we thought you were completely claimed by the Lord of Light since you smelled so human like us… and Winter didn’t show up until you were 18. Well… more like when we noticed her. She was so dormant we didn’t know you were an Omega.” Said dad. Winter growled. She didn’t like them talking about the Lord of Light since the Church of the Light’s priests were known to burn wolves at the stake…
“I think Phillip and Frigus did.” Said Oliver rubbing his eyes. “They probably kept it secret because they wanted her to live her life completely ignorant, and let you all be a human family for her.”
“Don’t let this spoil your day though honey.” Said mom.
“I’ve never held a grudge about that. Neither of you have wolves….” I said quietly and the line was silent.
“That doesn’t mean you worry about us like our parents do.” Said mom. “We don’t mind being mortal.”
But I did…. It’s only natural to be blessed enough to outlive your parents…. But that didn’t mean it wouldn’t hurt... “I won’t.” I half lied. I wouldn’t for now, but I wished it wasn’t this way…
“I thought one of you was an omega.” Said Oliver.
“No, we aren’t. Our parents were. Being an Omega is actually rare and random. I could have just as easily been born a ranked wolf. It’s just that the Lord of Light intervenes the more human you are… He is the stronger god after all.” Said dad.
“We found that out through both the Light and Lunar priests meditating together. In our town, we all live in peace, but I know this sounds very strange to you since you live in a place of hate.” Said mom a little sadly.
“Yeah, if you reveal you have any connection with the Night in any way here, you’re toast. To speak of lighter things… how about tomorrow?” He asked.
They agreed and we said our goodbyes. “Oliver thanks for changing the subject.” I said quietly.
“I felt how sad it made you. Remember… they will pass, but I am here… I cannot die, for I am already dead. My soul is tethered to this body and nothing short of being completely destroyed will change that.” He said confidently.
“How do you know that?” I asked, and he pursed his lips, looking down a long time.
“I can’t explain it…. I just… I just know.” He said quietly.
“Then unless it’s somehow proven wrong… I trust you….” I said with a smile. We went downstairs after getting on clothes, but Oliver didn’t put on a suit like usual, this time he had on just regular clothes.
“Good.” He kissed me. “I put my foot in my mouth twice now…. Let’s at least do something to remove one of ‘um.” He smiled. We got on the elevator together, enjoying each other’s touch.
“Oliver, you told them we were ready to be married… I am, but we still need a bunch of stuff.” I complained.
“Yeah….” He scratched the back of his neck. “I figure we can wing it with the cake and reception when we get there but we have access to so many stores here, you could probably get whatever you think you’ll need realistically now. No one is coming to Sapphire besides us. I don’t want their secret getting out, but we will have a ceremony here too… so why not pick some stuff here today, and leave tomorrow?” He asked.
“Two ceremonies?” I thought about it a second. “Realistically, my hybrid family wouldn’t travel here…. except Officer Frost. He’s so strong most people can’t tell he’s half human, but others may reveal the secret….” I mumbled.
“Then let’s go. I know a few fea on the strip, pick what you like, and sorry in advance…. You don’t have bride’s maids or anything.” I mumbled. The elevator dinged, and I heard all the usual chatter, but I had my head down for a second.
“…. Yes I do.” I group texted Yuki, Fledge, Rain, and Angela. Her and her mate could all be bride’s maids. They readily agreed, and Oliver texted Chase, Clint, Tim, and David. They would be at the ceremony in the city, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to start now. It was a bit hard to get through the sea of wolves and witches, but thankfully they made way for us. However… something bothered me.
…. I also knew that for Oliver to want to leave New Apple So bad… he’d done something…. I didn’t even want to speculate what in case I was right… I would trust him though. I knew whatever it was he did, it was probably for me….
“Let’s all meet up at the café on 4Th Ave, then window shop.” Said Oliver, and I nodded, grabbing his hand. If he heard me, he chose not to say anything….
I noticed that many witches and wolves were congregating this morning once we got past everyone. Thinking back, it seemed that more were mated to wolves, as some of them did have engagement rings. Others were holding hands, or their tummies in the parking lot, and I smiled…. One of the witches was already pregnant. That baby would be the first one born a hybrid.
However, Oliver looked stone faced. He did that for my sake, but I didn’t think it was needed so much anymore…. All who didn’t respect his rule as Alpha were probably gone, along with many who disliked hybrids. I am sure some are still around. Said Winter. She was probably right, but realistically I wasn’t sure. Why stay? If you hate hybrids, there are other packs. I complained, and she huffed. We got in the car, but Oliver was silent. I think he was listening, and if he was I didn’t mind. Maybe it was something we both needed to hear.
I do not think it is so easy to leave. Wolves stayed with Mr. Razer even though he was not treating them right… She huffed. I hadn’t thought of that…. I had it easy my whole life. I was from a small town, descended from the Alpha so no one messed with me… and even here… I’m mated to an Alpha… the only real danger I get is from political plots.
Those wolves don’t have that protection. Oliver lends his strength, but I doubt they would come to him with complaints of discrimination…. He looked at me with a small glare. “You two make a good point. I’ll keep my eye out and add some laws to prevent that. Now that I think of it, additional training for the Warriors too. They are somewhat magic resistant because of my plans earlier… but that doesn’t mean they will know what they’re doing….” He kissed me on the cheek, letting me in the car.
