Chapter Thirteen

May’s POV

The rest of the week went faster than an airplane on a trip, stopping and making a little pause for Friday to come in.

I was a little bit nervous, scared, and anxious about this party. I’d gotten the opportunity to get Adam’s number from Tiffany and I’d messaged him to ask if it’ll be okay to come with a friend and he said it was cool.

Declan was excited about this opportunity to go to that party even though the boy parties every Friday night but still he was excited.

Why?

Probably because of the girls who would be attending the party.

I woke up on Friday morning in a great mood, looking forward to what will happen later in the day. The party was supposed to start by seven and literary the dress that Nicolas has helped me to pick will fit into any occasion. I went through my bag of dresses and realized that I didn’t have a shoe, still thinking of what to do, Tiffany walked into the room.

Sighting the short dress I’d splayed out on the bed, she asked, “Getting ready for the evening?”

I smiled and nodded.

“I just have a little problem, but I think I’ll be able to sort it out in minutes” I picked up my phone, ready to text Declan so he could come earlier than planned and I’ll use that opportunity to get some shoes on the way to the place.

“What is wrong, May? You can talk to me” Tiffany asked.

“It’s really nothing serious. I just realized that I didn’t have any shoes to go with the dress. So, I’ll be going earlier than the scheduled time I’d planned and get some shoes on the way”

“What’s your size?” I was still texting Declan when she asked that question.

“Uhm, 38” I replied.

“Don’t worry about the shoe, I’ll go call someone and get it to you before you leave” She headed for the door while I watch her in astonishment.

“What time are you leaving?”

“Any time after six pm” I replied.

She opened the door, turned to wink at me, and walked out of the room. I picked up my phone and fired a quick text to Declan telling him not to bother about the situation and that I’d gotten it sorted out.

By four, I took a really good shower and took my time to get myself cleaned up. I did some major shaving job just to get out my excess body hair and not look weird in the short gown that I was about to wear.

I’m not a fan of green color but with the way this dress is looking so sparking and beautiful, I guess I can’t hate green anymore.

I walked out of the shower with a towel wrapped around my body and almost died from shock when I saw Nicholas standing in front of his wardrobe, shirtless. If I’d known he would have gotten home so early, I would’ve dressed in the bathroom and not do this right here.

I cleared my throat, trying to get his attention and let him know that I was in the room. He turned back, took a good look at me before turning to hang his shirt.

“Tiffany told me you needed some shoes. I got you a few pairs because I didn’t know which one you’ll love” he said pointing to a mountain of shoes still in their cartoons, sprawled out on the bed and some on the floor.

“I thought I mentioned shoes and not shoessssss” I replied, walking closer to the number of shoes to see if I’ll pick one, use it and return it to him as well.

“How many shoes are these?” I asked

“Fifty” my eyes went wide at the number.

“I think you should return these shoes. There’s no way I’m picking from all these”

“Why?”

“Because if I do, that means I’ll have to start removing them from their cartoons to pick the one that’ll fit the dress, and placing them right back won’t be easy and that would make it difficult to be returned in its perfect way”

“I’ve paid for everything. Pick one and find something to do with the rest”

I huffed in annoyance, probably not believing what I was hearing.

“Yeah! Something like eating them should be a better solution for the rest, right?”

I moved away from the shoes, not without sighting those designer shoes that cost a fortune to get. My towel was still wrapped around my body. I realized that the dress and my underwear had been moved to a different position while the shoes were deposited on the bed.

I picked them up, getting ready to go get dressed in the bathroom.

“I’ll be going to the party with you” I turned in disbelief.

“In your wildest dreams” I hissed.

“You will not go to that party alone without me or Tiffany” he added “Why?”

“Because I don’t trust you”

Those might sound like regular words to other people but to me, I knew just what Nicolas meant. Our hatred for each other had actually started with an event that happened at a party and no matter how much I try to forget it, it wasn’t possible to let go.

“You don’t have to remind me of everything that happened back then at all times, Aslam,” I asked, eyes filled with tears and my voice shaking.

“I don’t want to be reminded of that either. But the moment you walked back into my door should have made it clear that the issue would be discussed once in a while”

“You’re not making it a once in a while issue, here. You’re reminding me of the things that I do not want to be reminded of” A lone tear slipped down my eyes.

“Please Aslam, just for tonight” I added, not ready to fight it out.

He nodded gently, looking at me with pity and sadness.

I wiped my tears off with the back of my hand and turned away from him to head back into the bathroom.

“In case you need to know, I wouldn’t appreciate you going to that party with me” He was silent as he didn’t say anything after that.

By the time I emerged from the bathroom, the room was empty, and Nicholas was not in sight, only his scents were left in the room as evidence that he had just left.

I noticed a shoe had been separated from the others, it was staying really close to my bags and I wondered if Tiffany had been here to help out with my misery. I sat close to the mirror, picked out my makeup bags, and got to work.

I curled my hair at the edges, used light makeup, and also put on shoes before heading downstairs.

“Holy moly, Girl, do you look good?” Declan gushed as I got down the stairs.

“Really?” I said, striking a pose.

“Wait right there, let me take some fire pictures”

He brought out his phone, before snapping those pictures of me over and over again till I got really tired.

“Where’s Tiffany?” I asked Bella.

“She’s sleeping”

“That’s bad. Tell her I’ll be back soon”

I walked out of the house with Declan right behind me.

We got into his pickup truck and he drove us to the Mayor’s house which was surprisingly not that far from the castle.

The party was already in full swing by the time we got there, I met Adam right at the door welcoming some of his guests to the party.

“I’m so glad you could make it, May,” He said, hugging me.

“Me too, Adam” I hugged him back.

“This is Declan, he’s my friend and the one other person I told you about” He and Declan shook hands while I looked around.

“I’ll see you inside”

“Save a dance for me later, May,” Adam asked and kissed my cheeks, before I walked inside, Hand in hand with Declan.

Minutes later, I was standing at a corner, watching Declan drink his fifth cup of alcohol while talking and laughing like an idiot with a really skinny girl. I shook my head at his silliness but quickly changed the direction of my eye when his hand was moving dangerously close to the girl’s ass.

I didn’t want to watch the scene, but I had to take my eyes back when a slap resounded across the room. I didn’t know when a laugh erupted from me as I saw the look on Declan’s face.

“I guess he deserved that, right?” A girl behind me asked.

“He does, I think”

When I turned to look at the stranger that I was talking to, what I saw was not what I expected.

The girl was clutching hands with the one person I hate most, smiling at each other as if the rest of us were nonexistent.

His eyes met mine when he turned to kiss the girl and I didn’t miss the mockery in his eyes.

Fucking Nicholas Amaan.
