Chapter 45 CHAPTER 45
ROMAN’S POV
When I said I wanted to see her. To know what she was up to through the screens and just enjoy the…intrigueness that was this evening, I certainly wasn’t expecting this.
This outright display. Such boldness and more importantly, the little freak.
The appearance of the little freak. The little freak that was herself. Little freak Alina.
“Argh!” she groaned upon seeing me. Embarrassed definitely. I could smell in the air as much as I could smell the sex on her. The poignant smell of unfinished sex, plus sweat. She wouldn’t even let me speak before running off. Just pushing past me, knocking me into a very stunned Jordan behind, and fleeing into the darkness of the rest of the hallway.
Her behaviour thoroughly amusing. Absolutely comical!
Have you ever seen anything like this before? Have you seen- have you ever seen a more intriguing night!
“Tell me we’ve had more note worthy nights as this, Jordan.” I begged silently, desperate. Chuckling. “Tell me something more hilarious…something more striking as this has happened, cause this building has never felt so alive, Jordan!!”
“Well boss…” he breathed, straightened. Stunned out of his mind. Surprised. “I-I-I can’t say I’m sure about that.”
“You’re not sure?” I turned to him, grinning. Teeth out all full display. “You’re saying you’re not sure, and you’re the one that almost made us miss this right now.”
Made me miss this.
A couple moments ago he insisted vehemently against coming down here. Listing out nonstop why we shouldn’t, and here he was more stunned than I was. Looking at his features alone made me laugh out some more, amused out of my mind right now.
Imagine if I had gotten here a minute late.
Imagine if I had listened and gone round the main lounge first. I would’ve missed this. Missed her!
I just knew she’d be here. I felt it!
First it was seeing her on the screens looking all unimpressed in the main lounge of the Eden Suites, almost like she was searching for something wrong. Which was ironic cause out of most persons there, she was the worst dressed. Almost naked with her assets all outside. She was dressed like that and kept narrowing her eyes dis-pleasingly at many others.
‘What a judgemental coward you are,’ I’d thought, but boy was I wrong. I was so wrong, and couldn’t believe my eyes when she got up, finally abandoning Eden, but instead of living, she tapped on the button going upwards in the elevator.
The top floor.
The Grand Floor.
That was when I knew the show was just getting started, and sure as hell I made sure she got easy access. Normally that elevator wouldn’t take anyone up. Even if they pressed on the top floor button, they’ll only be taken to the ground floor and notified by the central unit in charge of security.
I let her go through.
I let the elevator open up for her, and made sure she got to where she wanted ‘safely.’ She wanted to come over, didn’t she? Let’s see her try to sneak around. And she didn’t disappoint me. Drowning herself first with a couple of drinks. Strong drinks.
This was the part John began inciting we let her be. Crazy guy. Why would I let that happen? She just got even more interesting, and he was saying stuff.
But imagine my surprise when she suddenly disappeared to the main lounge, disappeared from my screens all together. Meaning she’d gone over to the doors. The rooms there. The main action.
“Maybe this is just something she does. Enjoys.” Jordan had shrugged suggestively, waving it off. Trying to make me wave it off, but-
Something she did?? Enjoyed? Wouldn’t that be even more reason for me to check it out and see for myself??
I mean it was Alina.
Alina.
Jordan didn’t understand, she wouldn’t do that!
Alina, she… she wouldn’t do this. She wouldn’t do something like this, she wasn’t one for things like this. Coward as she was, she had proven over and over to be a morality cop. Distasteful towards this kind of life, my kind of life. Back then and worse even now.
How could she then suddenly come to the top floor? To the rooms!
I had to see it myself. I had to.
And that was how I found myself here. In front of the 8th door on the row. The one usually occupied by the former mayor and his sectary.
One glance at the now Alina vacant room, and I already knew what went down. But still…
“Alina, Alina, Alina.” I chuckled quietly. Delighted. Imagining it all, remembering her face again. The shocked yet embarrassed, yet flushed look on her face just before she ran off.
She surely didn’t expect to me. To see anyone at all.
All day she’ll spend chastising everything, but then turn around to fantasize about it and now even take part! I should’ve known when her form appeared on my table tonight. I should’ve known.
“Err, Boss.” Jordan nudged me, gesturing to the door again. Keeping a good distance. My eyes moving to it, capturing the moment the Mayor himself came stumbling out. His assistant in front. Her eyes obviously angered and searching for Alina.
It didn’t take anything for them to notice me. Blood quickly draining from the assistant's face, her steps faltering and quickly moving to hide behind the mayor. Which was a contrast to their actual dynamic, but nothing a few suspensions wouldn’t do to you.
It showed she’d learnt her lesson these past months of absence here. Good.
“Mr. Ward.” the mayor uneasily greeted. Straightening out. “Funny to see you here on a Tuesday night.”
“Likewise,” I simply addressed, “You two seem eager to resume I see.”
“Off suspension now.”
“I can see.” I cut him short, sparing the damned assistant a look. Remembering how she broke the rules last time, forcing herself on a partner even after series of complaints were aired. Surely she wasn’t intending on doing so to Alina before she ran out, did she?
That wasn’t why she ran out, is it?
“Err, we have a little problem, Mr. Ward.” The mayor opened his mouth before I would ask. “Our partner…she just left.”
“Why?” I asked, staaring at them both.
“No reason,” The mayor shrugged, seemingly honest. Careful. Cautious. Which was the only reason I let them both come back here after last time. “Maybe you should check on…check on the blacklist perhaps? Check to confirm if we’ve been taken off, just to be sure.”
Hmm.
To be sure they weren’t intentionally been avoided by others, hence lacking partners. I got it.
They learnt their lesson properly, very good.
“I’ll have someone check it out,” I said to them, already turning back around. Preparing to leave. “But the partner that left…let her be.”
“Mr. Ward?”
“Shouldn't she at least face consequences? She withdrew amisdt it all.” The assistant pressed too. Finally speaking. Making me turn back around to them, a smirk on my lips.
“Consent is consent. If she said no, then no. Forget about her.” she frowned, I stepped forward. Daring her. “Unless… unless you have other ideas. For her that is.”
She stepped backward, hiding. But didn’t mean I’d let her go. “You have other ideas on how to handle her, don’t you?”
“N-no.”
“You do.”
“N-
“Listen here woman,” my voice fell low, eyes trained specifically on her. “I may forgive your last behaviour, but this? That girl you just called your partner…I’ll not just not forgive, I’m going to make you feel it. Do you understand me?”
“Y-y-
“Do you understand?” I spat, she jumped. Eyes wide. The mayor holding unto her protectively. “She undertands, Mr. Ward. We do.”
Good.
You’d better.
With that I withdrew. Stepping back and straightening out again to leave. But not before catching sight of the strap on she had on her waist.
An object she most definitely would be putting to use. Or maybe…maybe have already put to use.
Alina.
Alina, Alina.
“You’re really something, aren't you?” I chuckled to myself. Looking back at the angle she’d run off to. A dead end surely at the waiting there for her since the exit elevator was all the way on this other side she’d abandoned in her haste. Meaning she’d have to walk right back, past this very door, and then to open space leading up to the exit elevator.
Running was useless.
Hiding away even worse. Didn’t she at least know that with all the sneakiness under her sleeves?
One thing was certain though.
She wasn't as innocent as i thought her to be. Worse, she was far from innocent. So far. And somehow...somehow that sounded like good news to me.
