Chapter 12

I was just dumbfounded while looking at the laptop in front of me.

Our kitchen scene this morning repeatedly replayed in my brain.

It's already noon and I'm here in the office, I've been here for a few hours, but I still haven't finished any paper work.

"You fucking bitch! Who are you to command a goddess like me?! Be thankful I can't stand you," my friend said annoyed, as she walked quickly towards me.

Immediately my mood changed, I felt like I was a kid who won a game when she arrived.

"Did you bring it?" I asked excitedly.

I saw her roll her eyes, then drop herself on the chair in front of me.

"I hoped you would ask me how I was before you asked me for what you want," she said before throwing a plastic bag full of mangos in front of me.

I quickly scanned the bag and became depressed, because she did not buy what I wanted.

I looked at her with tears in my eyes.

She raised her eyebrow. "What?"

"This is not what I asked for," I muttered, then pushed them away.

"What the hell? Are you serious? Who would see a twin mango Cassandra? Are you kidding me?!" she spat angrily.

"D-did you just raise your voice at me?" I cried, and could not believe my words.

"You are like a pregnant woman... Tell me I'm wrong." she continued, then looked at me seriously.

I averted my eyes and bit my lip so hard.

"Yes, I'm two weeks pregnant." I slowly turned to look at her.

She was shocked. "And I'm the one you're torturing with your cravings, instead of your fucking husband?" she said after recovering from the shock.

I pouted. "I don't know. It's just, you are the one I like to do that to. I want to see your stressed face."

She closed her eyes and sighed.

“Argh! Seriously? My talent fee is expensive.”

She calmed down for a moment and looked at me again.

"Just kidding, the strength of your husband's semen is freaking good. You just got married and here you are now, pregnant."

I was pissed. I let her off the hook because I knew she was shocked inside.

A few moments later, she started to get serious. "Does he know?"

I immediately shook my head and put on a fake smile. "You are the only one I've told."

"What the? Why?" she asked, annoyed and surprised.

I rested deeply before turning my swivel chair to face outside. "He has a plan to leave me, so why would I?" I turned to look at her.

"I don't want to force someone just for my own personal gain." I continued.

"Damn, that's not personal, Cassandra. You are fucking carrying his child!"

"This is also my child! It is also difficult for me, Ayesha, but can't you see? He loves his girlfriend. He wants me out of his life! Do you think we can have a child together?" I burst into tears.

"Fuck!" she cursed before standing up and approaching me. She hugged me tight and caressed my hair.

"I'm sorry. Stop crying, the baby might be crying too."

"Never mind what I've said. Whatever you decide, I'm here, but I can't promise I won't interfere. Stay tuned." she whispered.

"What's happening?"

Ayesha and I both turned to the door.

"A-Andrei," I stammered.

He slowly walked closer to me, I could see the concern on his face. Ayesha stepped aside to make way for Andrei.

He lowered himself to match me. "Are you okay? Why are you crying? Did something happen?" he asked a series of questions in front of me.

Why do you worry about me like this, even when you just threw me away?

I just shook my head and wiped my face. "Ayesha was just a bit dramatic so I cried."

The look he gave me was critical, so I avoided it. I was nervous when he looked up at my table. There were still mangoes, brought by Ayesha. Fuck.

He frowned at it and then my friend turned to the two of us.

"A-ah, it's Ayesha. She bought it." I said quickly, then arranged the mango and gave it to Ayesha.

I saw my friend staring at me, so I laughed.

"Oh yes, I did buy this freaking mango. It's just annoying because I didn't buy what I really wanted." She said sarcastically, then took them.

Fuck you, Ayesha.

"I'm leaving," she bid goodbye to the two of us, but before she could leave, my husband called her.

"What do you want to buy?" he asked seriously.

I immediately gave Ayesha a secret killer look since Andrei turned her back to me, but my friend ignored that.

She smirked, a playful smile on her lips. "I just wanted a twin mango. Could you find it for me?"

Jeez! FUCK YOU AYESHA SAMANIEGO.

It had been a few minutes since Ayesha left the office. I tried to focus on the laptop in front of me, even though I was so beyond that.

He was sitting on the couch, seriously sipping his coffee. I didn't know if I was just imagining it, or if he was almost too serious now. I jumped in my seat when he suddenly looked at me.

"A-ah are you doing nothing? Can I ask what brought you here?" I asked shyly, then pretended to type something.

My heart beat faster when I saw him get up and stand in the corner of my eye. He was walking like a god. He's always been handsome, but I feel he is even more handsome now.

I was surprised when he closed my laptop, so I stared at him.

"It's normal for your husband to come here, isn't it?" he said, which made my heart beat even more.

Husband...

I tried to smile at him and ignored what he said. He walked over to my side, then gently pulled me upright.

"W-what are you doing?" I asked nervously.

I was shocked when he hugged me and lowered his head to the side of my neck.

"You know you don't need to lie to me right?" he whispered softly.

I didn't speak.

What is he saying?

Don't tell me he knows?

That idea made me even more nervous.

"I miss you, so much baby," he whispered again, then kissed me on the forehead.

I don't know what game he is playing, but I like this game. I just hugged him back.

"Now I'm finally home," he said softly. He loosened his grip on me then stroked my face.

I didn't know if he was just really good at faking his emotions, or if I was just really stupid for falling for his scams.

Is this love?
