"But..."
Howard's tone shifted, and my heart tightened along with it.
"She did invite me, but I didn't accept. I swear to God, Malcolm was with me that day, and I never spent time alone with Sienna!"
Howard's reaction was unexpected; I didn't think he would explain so much.
Seeing him swear like that, I couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright, I believe you. Even if Sienna stripped naked and climbed into your bed, you wouldn't do anything with her. Let's go, I'm starving!"
I grabbed Howard's hand and pulled him inside.
We had just sat down and hadn't even had a chance to order when we encountered an unexpected person.
"Howard, I didn't expect to see you here."
I followed the voice and saw Sienna.
Today, she was wearing a cream-colored coat, her hair slightly curled and draped over her shoulders, with a light pink lip color, exuding a youthful vibe.
Before we could say anything, Sienna plopped down next to Howard.
"I invited you to this place several times, and you always refused. I didn't expect you wanted to come here with Kathie."
Sienna sat next to Howard, looking very much like a couple, making me feel like an outsider.
As soon as Sienna said that, the people around us started looking at me differently, as if I were some homewrecker!
I didn't rush to speak; instead, Howard seemed anxious and quickly jumped up from his chair.
He walked over to my side and sat down.
"If I don't eat with my wife and instead eat with a company employee, what sense does that make? Do you want to make my wife angry? You're really something!"
My eyes widened instantly; I couldn't believe Howard could say something like that!
Sienna's face didn't look good, but she forced a smile.
"How can I be an outsider? Howard, we at least grew up together."
"Stop! We were high school classmates, not childhood friends. Don't twist the facts!"
Howard's words left no room for Sienna.
The previously unfriendly looks directed at me all turned to Sienna. After all, society still has a low tolerance for mistresses!
Sienna's eyes reddened, and she wiped away nonexistent tears before forcing a smile.
"I overstepped. But Mr. Wilson, it shouldn't be a problem to treat me to a meal, right?"
Howard turned to look at me, seeking my opinion with his eyes.
I was very satisfied with Howard's performance. Besides, in a public place, even if Sienna wanted to do something, she couldn't be shameless in front of everyone!
"Of course, since we ran into each other, it's no big deal for us to treat an employee to a meal."
I smiled lightly, but the smile didn't reach my eyes.
Just now, I deliberately emphasized "us," and sure enough, Sienna's face turned even paler.
To avoid suspicion, Howard specifically ordered two steaks and some side dishes before handing the menu to Sienna.
"I don't know your preferences, so you can choose for yourself."
Sienna's face looked a bit unpleasant. Indeed, the best way to deal with a hypocritical woman is with sincerity!
"Then, I'll have a ribeye steak!"
