Chapter 122
Listening to Joshua lecture her as if he were still her husband, Ella found it laughable.
"Who I'm with is none of your business. Joshua, if Scarlett hadn't betrayed you, you two would already be married, right?"
Ella thought about Aurora's death—half of it was caused by Joshua's coldness.
And what happened four years ago—she would never forgive Joshua for that in this lifetime.
Now that she didn't need to use Joshua to get revenge on Scarlett, Ella felt it was time to cut all contact with him.
That cold-hearted man—even saying one more word to him made her feel sick.
"Ella..."
Joshua's heart ached as he patiently explained, "I didn't say anything when you were with Zachary, but Mason is different. That guy has serious character problems."
A man who could sleep with his own sister and record a video of it—his character was rotten to the core.
He even sent the video to him.
Joshua never knew Mason could be so vile.
He absolutely couldn't let Ella be deceived.
Ella laughed coldly, "Mason is indeed no good, but you're not much better. Joshua, we're already divorced, and I've paid back the money I owed you. From now on, we're even. Let's never contact each other again for the rest of our lives."
She hung up and immediately blocked and deleted everything related to Joshua.
When Joshua tried to call again, he found he couldn't get through.
He still couldn't understand why Ella would get together with Mason.
To figure it out, he drove straight to the Lewis Villa.
Scarlett couldn't reach Mason.
She was burning with anxiety.
She couldn't accept that Joshua had just called off their wedding. She had thought Mason truly loved her and could really solve all her problems and take her home.
But Mason had turned around and gotten together with Ella.
Unwilling to let her only support be taken away, Scarlett wasn't afraid of getting in trouble with the Lewis family. She took a cab back to the Lewis Villa.
By coincidence, she ran into Joshua when she arrived.
The two came face to face at the entrance of the Lewis Villa.
For a moment, the atmosphere froze.
Coming to her senses, Scarlett quickly approached Joshua, crying and pleading, "Joshua, did you come here to find me? You still want to marry me, right?"
Scarlett still held a glimmer of hope for him.
Joshua avoided her with disgust, his expression cold, "Don't make me sick. Put away that pitiful, wronged look, as if I'm the one in the wrong. What you and Mason did really opened my eyes."
He stepped forward to ring the doorbell.
Seeing Scarlett, Joshua couldn't help but think of the video Mason had sent him.
He felt a wave of nausea.
Scarlett panicked and desperately defended herself, "Mason forced me. I didn't want to do that with him. Besides, I didn't care that you were with Ella either, Joshua."
She reached out to grab him, crying pitifully.
Joshua waited for a long time, but no one came to open the door.
He irritably shook off Scarlett's hand.
He didn't notice that upstairs in the Lewis Villa, Ella was watching them.
Seeing Mason approach, she pulled him over to spy together, "Do you think Scarlett is begging Joshua to get back together with her?"
Mason looked through the gap in the curtains and saw Scarlett crying and clinging to Joshua.
Her actions did look like she was begging Joshua.
Mason's heart ached, his fists clenched tight.
Unable to bear it, he turned to go find Scarlett.
Ella laughed bitterly, "Do you love Scarlett that much? For her sake, you'd go after me without hesitation, and you don't care at all that she might betray you at any moment."
Since Scarlett had slept with Mason, and Joshua had canceled the wedding.
That proved Joshua could never get back together with Scarlett.
Now Scarlett's support was Mason.
But since she'd chased him all the way home, why was she still pinning her hopes on Joshua?
Ella couldn't quite understand Scarlett's behavior.
Mason paused mid-step and turned to look at Ella.
Full of shame, he said, "I'm sorry. I'll slowly make up for the harm I caused you, but I truly love Scarlett."
Unwilling to let Scarlett stay with Joshua any longer, Mason rushed downstairs after speaking.
Arriving in the courtyard, he had just opened the door.
Before he could pull Scarlett away from Joshua, Joshua had already stepped forward and punched him twice.
Not satisfied, Joshua grabbed him and beat him severely, "How dare you, Mason? I'm not holding what happened between you and Scarlett against you—you should be grateful for that. But you actually dare to get involved with Ella? Are you looking for death?"
Ella could be with anyone.
Even with Zachary or Michael, Joshua wouldn't interfere.
But not with Mason.
Mason had grown up with him—they'd always been friends.
How could he go after Ella right after his divorce?
Mason took the punches, blood flowing from his nose and mouth.
Looking at Scarlett standing nearby, showing no concern for him and not pulling Joshua away.
Mason's heart broke. He turned to look at Joshua without fighting back, "You're this worked up because you love Ella?"
He wanted Scarlett to see clearly who Joshua really had in his heart.
Joshua didn't deny it. In front of Scarlett, he said firmly, "Yes, I love Ella."
"Then what does Scarlett mean to you?"
Mason pressed.
Scarlett beside them tensed up, hoping Joshua would say something that showed he cared about her.
But no, Joshua remained firm and cold, "If it weren't to keep Ella out of prison, I never would have agreed to marry Scarlett. She means nothing to me. So I was actually quite happy when you sent me that video—it gave me a reason to cancel the wedding."
He released Mason and asked coldly, "Is Ella here with you?"
Mason stepped back two paces. Without answering, he turned to Scarlett with a bitter smile, "You heard that, right? He doesn't love you."
Scarlett felt like her heart had died.
The Joshua she'd been longing to marry had never had feelings for her, not even for a moment.
If that was the case, why should she keep pining for him?
Steadying herself from the mental breakdown caused by Joshua's disgust and humiliation, Scarlett actively moved closer to Mason and said spitefully, "I know. I don't love him either. That's why I slept with you."
Knowing there was no hope of being with Joshua, Scarlett could only put all her bets on Mason.
Holding his arm, Scarlett cried and asked, "Mason, didn't you tell me to wait for you? So why did you get together with Ella?"
Joshua looked at their interaction without the slightest care, only feeling nauseated.
He avoided them and tried to enter the Lewis Villa directly to find Ella.
But he ran into Heath and Rhea coming out.
The two of them looked at the scene in the courtyard and flew into a rage, "Mason, Scarlett, what are you two doing?"
Scarlett jumped in fright and quickly withdrew her arm from Mason's. Crying, she stepped forward and called out, "Dad, Mom, I'm sorry. It's Scarlett's fault for being useless and making you lose face."
Mason still couldn't bear to let Scarlett suffer. He immediately pulled her behind him to protect her, and facing Heath and Rhea, took all the blame upon himself, "Mom and Dad, it's my fault. It has nothing to do with Scarlett. If you're going to blame anyone, blame me!"
