Chapter 108
Joshua staggered to his feet, letting out a low, bitter laugh.
He was laughing at himself for being such a fool.
A family of three living happily together—what was he, the ex-husband, doing there?
Ella now didn't need him at all.
Yet he was still worrying about her like an idiot—worried about her injuries, worried she was suffering too much from losing Aurora, worried she might do something desperate.
Now it seemed he was just being delusional.
Joshua took a deep breath, suppressing the discomfort in his heart. He left the things he'd brought at the door and turned to leave dejectedly.
After Dorian closed the door, he turned and ran to the study.
Seeing Ella and Zachary discussing something, he said proudly, "Mom, guess who I just chased away?"
Ella looked at him, "Someone came by just now?"
"Yeah, you're annoying and cold ex-husband. I told him my dad and mom were taking a shower and kicked him right out."
He hated Joshua the most.
Because he refused to save Aurora, he never wanted to have anything to do with him again.
Ella and Zachary exchanged glances. Though they felt awkward, they didn't scold Dorian.
Zachary asked, "Do you still need to use him? If so, should you go back and explain?"
He knew what Ella wanted to do. If she couldn't get revenge for Aurora and Aiden, she definitely wouldn't return to Eldoria with him.
For revenge, he supported Ella in doing whatever she wanted.
Even if it meant going back to Joshua.
"Okay, I'll go over there later."
If she didn't steal Joshua away from Scarlett, Scarlett wouldn't reveal her true nature.
She did still need to use Joshua.
Thinking about how the DNA results would come out today, Ella looked at Dorian, "Dorian, you stay home with Zachary. Mom has to go out for something."
Dorian looked worried, "Won't it be dangerous for Mom to go alone? If we can't get revenge, let's just not do it, okay? When I grow up, I'll go kill them myself."
He was so afraid something would happen to Ella.
He'd already lost Aurora—he couldn't lose Ella, too.
"Children shouldn't talk about killing. Mom is just going out to take care of something. It's fine. Be good and listen, Mom will come back when she's done."
Zachary pulled Dorian into his arms, "Let your mom go. Don't worry, I'll protect her."
He'd already arranged for bodyguards to secretly protect Ella.
This time, he definitely wouldn't let anything happen to her.
Only then did Dorian stop protesting.
After Ella left, she first went to the hospital's testing center.
After getting the results, she stared at the display showing "no biological relationship" and fell into thought.
Dorian and Joshua weren't father and son.
Though she felt relieved, she somehow felt something wasn't quite right.
If Dorian wasn't Joshua's child, why did Scarlett kidnap her Aurora back then?
How did Scarlett know her Dorian didn't have a father?
Throwing away the test results, Ella pulled out her phone to call Joshua.
She had to figure out whether four years ago, Joshua had slept with her or with Scarlett.
Once she confirmed Joshua had nothing to do with her Dorian, she would use Joshua to get revenge on Scarlett.
The phone rang for a long time before someone answered.
But the voice that came through was bone-chillingly cold, "What do you want? Ella, since you're already with Zachary and your child, don't contact me anymore."
One moment, Ella said she loved him and wanted to be with him.
After Joshua tried to find a way to break off the engagement, she went back to Zachary.
What did she take him for—trash that she could use when needed and discard at will?
Joshua felt he should be more heartless, not soften and forgive her every time she lowered her head.
Ella knew Joshua was angry right now because of what Dorian said this morning.
She didn't care at all and said matter-of-factly, "I miss you. Come to Tranquil Villa after work today."
Without waiting for him to refuse, she hung up directly.
Ella knew Joshua would go to Tranquil Villa.
So she went there early and had Karen prepare dinner and wait.
Joshua thought he could be cold and heartless, that he really didn't care about Ella anymore.
But then she said she missed him and was waiting for him at Tranquil Villa.
After work, he rushed over.
As soon as he entered the house, he smelled the fragrance of food.
Karen came over to take Joshua's coat, saying with a smile, "Mr. Thomas, have you and Mrs. Thomas made up? Mrs. Thomas has been busy since she came back at noon, making you a whole table of food."
Joshua didn't care about how Karen addressed them.
Walking into the villa, he indeed saw Ella wearing an apron, busy in the dining room.
Joshua, dressed in a black shirt, walked over. Looking at Ella's slender figure, he inexplicably had an urge to hug her from behind.
But he still held back.
Ella turned to look at him, deliberately trying to please him, "You're back? Wash your hands and eat."
Joshua stood still and asked her, "Aren't you with Zachary and Dorian? Why did you suddenly call me over?"
It definitely wasn't just for this meal.
She'd better have a good reason, or he wouldn't even eat—he'd turn around and leave.
Ella looked at Joshua and explained sweetly, "I went there because I couldn't bear to part with Dorian, I wanted to spend more time with him. I told you, I don't like Zachary, and I'm not planning to be with him."
"Not planning to be with him, yet you took a shower with him."
Kids generally don't lie.
Dorian must have said what he saw.
This Ella was always good at lying—he wouldn't believe her again.
"That was Dorian talking nonsense. Zachary and I were in the study discussing things."
Ella pretended to be angry, "If you don't believe me, fine. Anyway, without Aurora, there's no point in living. Just go, and don't bother with me anymore."
She sat down to eat.
She couldn't be bothered to coax him—he could stay or leave.
When Joshua heard Ella talking about suicide again, no matter how angry he was, he couldn't bear to leave.
In the end, he turned and went to the bathroom.
When he came back, he obediently sat down at the dining table.
Joshua told Ella, "Stay home as much as you can lately, don't go anywhere. My mom is still upset that you kept the pregnancy from everyone. I'm afraid she'll give you trouble."
Ella's eating motion paused.
She looked up at the man across from her and asked bluntly, "Four years ago on your birthday, why did you sleep with Scarlett? We still had our engagement at that time."
Although she didn't want her child's father to be Joshua either.
But Ella always felt that Aurora didn't call him father for no reason back then.
Besides, when she took the samples for DNA testing, she happened to run into Mason.
Maybe Mason investigated her and tampered with things.
She had to ask Joshua some things clearly.
"Why are you asking about the past again?"
Joshua didn't want to bring up the mistakes he made before, and his voice grew colder.
"Answer me. Why did you sleep with Scarlett during our engagement? Was it because you were drunk and lost your senses, not knowing who it was, or did you know it was Scarlett and slept with her anyway?"
Ella pressed aggressively.
