Chapter 215
Chapter 215
After hearing Joshua's explanation, Sable analyzed the situation and shared her conclusion.
"What Mrs. Thomas is doing doesn't have much to do with hypnosis. She might have genuinely fallen in love with someone else."
Hearing this result hit Joshua like a ton of bricks.
Could Ella have become so unreasonable during this time, constantly contacting Michael, because she truly had feelings for him?
How could that be? She wasn't like this before.
If she had feelings for Michael, why would she have agreed to his proposal and have a child with him?
Joshua couldn't accept this cruel reality and suddenly lashed out at Sable.
"Do you even know what you're talking about? She's clearly been hypnotized and lost her self-awareness, which is why she's interested in someone else."
"If you don't know what you're doing, then get out."
Sable was startled.
But she still stood by her conclusion: "Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Thomas's behavior really doesn't have much to do with hypnosis. Maybe you should look for reasons elsewhere."
"Get out." Joshua couldn't believe what Sable was saying and directly ordered her to leave.
With no choice, she stood up and exited the room.
Soon after, Samuel called, asking him: "What's wrong with you? This Sable is well-known, and you don't believe her and even kicked her out?"
Joshua gripped his phone, looking at Ella leaning back in her chair under the lights, still in a dazed state, his heart breaking.
"I don't believe Ella has changed her feelings and fallen in love with someone else."
"If she really liked Michael, she wouldn't have been with me before."
Samuel explained, "What if he has the medicine Aurora needs, and Ella keeps contacting him? Back and forth like this, what if she really has developed feelings for Michael?"
Joshua fell silent.
Did this mean Ella fell for Michael later on?
That was even more impossible.
He and Ella already had a child together. Before they knew about Aurora's situation, he could feel that Ella had feelings for him.
Ella liked him too.
It was unthinkable that because of Aurora's situation, she would transfer her affections to someone who had once imprisoned her.
Joshua rejected Samuel's words: "I don't believe it. Samuel, help me think of another way. Ella couldn't have truly fallen in love with Michael. She must be influenced by something."
Thinking about how Ella had only begun acting like this after the child’s arrival, something must have been done to Ella by that child.
But his people were useless and couldn't find any trace of that child at all.
Without locating that child, they wouldn't know what the child did to Ella.
If it wasn't related to hypnosis, then how else could they restore her to normal?
Samuel was a doctor who only believed only in science and was skeptical of any supernatural explanations, couldn’t think of the love curse.
He could only give Joshua advice: "How about this - first make Ella cut contact with Michael, don't let them communicate, and see if Ella returns to normal after some time."
Joshua knew this wouldn't work.
Ella would resist and might even use the child to threaten him.
Was there really no other way?
Joshua leaned against the sofa with a pounding head, feeling exhausted and helpless.
Aurora peeked in and asked softly: "Dad, how's Mom? What did the doctor say?"
Joshua hung up and pulled Aurora close, his throat tightening as he struggled to speak. "It's okay, Mom just feels very insecure and needs us to spend more time with her."
Aurora didn't quite understand but offered comfort: "Dad, don't worry. Dorian and I are on vacation now, we'll stay with Mom every day from now on. If Mom still wants to leave after the baby is born, then we'll let her go!"
If Mom refuses even Dorian and me and insists on finding Michael, then we can only accept it.
But if that happened, she and Dorian would never have a complete family again.
Thinking about it made her quite sad.
"Yeah, let's do that for now. Maybe after the baby is born, she won't be able to bear leaving and won't go."
Joshua held Aurora in his arms, seeking comfort for himself.
In fact, he didn't know that the longer the curse worm remained in a person's body, the more it would make the two cursed people fall in love.
Eventually, they would be unable to resist each other and would struggle to stay apart.
If the two didn't get together and unite soon, the curse worm would become restless and erode a person's brain.
This could cause a person to develop a split personality and, eventually, despair enough to end their life.
That would be extremely dangerous.
But no one knew Ella was cursed with the love curse.
Fortunately, it was still in the early stages.
The curse worm's effect only made Ella think of Michael occasionally, without harming her.
Joshua didn't know when Ella would wake up.
He told Aurora to go eat dinner with Dorian first, then carried Ella back to the bedroom.
When Aurora and Dorian sat in the dining room eating, they were also worried and had no appetite.
"Dorian, what if Mom really leaves later?"
Dorian was also troubled.
He hadn't expected that bringing Lena back with good intentions would harm Ella like this.
He had been trying to find ways to help Ella these past few days.
But hadn’t succeeded.
Even Sable came over and said Ella's condition wasn't caused by hypnosis.
If it wasn't caused by hypnosis, then what could it be?
Dorian racked his brain but couldn't think of any other reason.
He was still very busy now, busy preparing medicine and doing experiments to help Aurora grow up healthy.
"Dorian, let's eat first. Anyway, we're on vacation now, so we can spend more time with Mom from now on and let her know we can't live without her."
"Maybe then Mom won't leave later." Aurora reminded him.
Dorian nodded in agreement. When he saw Joshua come down, also looking worried.
He took the initiative to talk to him and asked, "Is Mom okay?"
Joshua didn't want the children to worry, so he forced a faint smile, "She's fine, let's eat."
Dorian was such a smart person, how could he not see that Joshua was actually very sad.
He didn't say more and just ate his food.
After dinner, Joshua went upstairs to finish his work first.
When he returned to the bedroom and saw Ella had woken up, he hurriedly sat by the bed and leaned close to ask softly: "Ella, are you hungry? What would you like to eat?"
Ella felt like she had taken a nap and had another dream.
The dream was full of scenes from when she was young with Michael.
She missed Michael again.
Looking at Joshua in front of her, she ignored him, sat up to look for her phone, wanting to call Michael.
But after searching around and not seeing her phone, she looked at Joshua and asked: "Where's my phone?"
Joshua had put it away and said tactfully: "The doctor said you're pregnant and should stay away from electronic devices as much as possible. Too much radiation will affect the baby's development. Can we keep phones and computers away from now on?"
Ella was immediately unhappy. "How can I contact Michael without my phone? How can I handle company matters?"
"If my child can't even handle a bit of radiation from a phone, then he doesn't deserve to come into this world. Give me my phone right now!"
Joshua sat still and changed the subject. "Ella, you must be hungry. I'll have the kitchen prepare something for you."
He got up to leave.
Ella looked at him, seeing that he dared not listen to her and had even taken away her phone.
She was angry and grabbed the water glass from the nightstand, throwing it hard at Joshua.
Joshua had his back turned and didn't notice at all.
The glass hit him squarely on the back of his head.
With a bang, the glass shattered all over the floor.
The next second, Joshua's head was cut open, blood gushing out.
Feeling the pain, Joshua turned around. Looking at the glass shattered on the carpet, he reached up to touch the back of his head - it was covered in blood.
Blood rolled down from his hair, quickly staining his gray shirt.
Then came another wave of dizziness.
Nearly fainting, he quickly raised his hand to support himself against the wall, looking at Ella with eyes full of crimson hurt. "Ella, I'm doing this for your own good. Why must you be so violent?"
Ella didn't realize she had done anything wrong at all.
Sitting on the bed looking at Joshua's injured state, she said righteously, "I told you to give me my phone, or don't blame me for being rude to you."
Joshua really had no way to deal with her. Supporting himself with his last bit of consciousness, he stumbled out of the room.
He happened to run into Dorian, who was bringing food.
Seeing Joshua staggering and covered in blood, Dorian quickly put down the tray and reached out to support him.
"What happened to you? How did you get hurt so badly? Quick, go sit on the sofa over there and let me help you."
Then Dorian shouted downstairs: "Quick, bring me the first aid kit."
A servant quickly brought up the first aid kit.
Dorian helped Joshua sit down in the second-floor lounge and gestured to the servant, "I left the food over there, take it to Mom first."
The servant nodded and left to take the food to Ella.
Dorian opened the first aid kit, picked up scissors, and skillfully cut away Joshua's hair, quickly treating and bandaging his wound.
Joshua watched Dorian's actions, somewhat impressed.
He had always known that Dorian had great talent in medicine.
But they hadn't let him study with Samuel.
He hadn't expected that after a few years, he knew how to do everything.
He even saw concern and care for him on Dorian's face, his big round eyes turning a bit red.
Joshua forced a smile and told him: "I'm fine, don't worry."
Dorian asked him, "Did Mom do this? There are still glass fragments in this wound. Did she hit you with a glass?"
Joshua explained, "Mom's emotions have been unstable lately. I took away her phone, which is why she got angry. We won't hold it against Mom."
Dorian couldn't hold back, tears suddenly rolling down his cheeks.
He choked up and said: "I'm sorry, I apologize to you on Mom's behalf."
Joshua didn't understand why Dorian would apologize to him.
He felt heartbroken and reached out to hold Dorian's small body in his arms, also unable to stop his eyes from tearing up.
"Your mom did nothing wrong, you don't need to apologize for her. Dad doesn't blame her. It's Dad who's useless and can't take good care of Mom."
Dorian was still a child after all and couldn't control his emotions, crying out loud.
"I know you've been giving a lot during this time. Mom hasn't been good to you and keeps contacting Uncle Michael."
"If there's really no other way, let's just let Mom go!"
