Chapter 16
Ella couldn't quite believe it.
Joshua brought another woman home?
And that woman, who else could it be but Scarlett.
Ella's heart felt bitter. After changing her shoes, she headed upstairs.
With each step, her feet grew heavier, and her chest felt like something was pressing down on it, making it hard to breathe.
Especially when passing by Joshua's study, she heard Scarlett's moaning voice from inside.
"No, Joshua, be gentle, it hurts."
Joshua coaxed softly, "Just bear with it for a bit."
Then Scarlett's voice got even louder.
Ella stood frozen at the door, unable to bear such humiliation.
How could Joshua bring another woman home when they weren't even divorced yet?
And doing such shameful things at home.
Even though she knew Joshua didn't love her and she had no right to interfere.
But as his wife, she couldn't stand this happening right under her nose.
Feeling really angry, Ella suddenly pushed open the study door.
Just as she was about to yell at them, she suddenly realized they weren't actually doing that.
But Joshua was holding Scarlett's hand and rubbing it.
That gesture still hurt her eyes.
Hearing the noise, the two people on the sofa turned their heads.
Seeing Ella burst in suddenly, Joshua didn't feel awkward about his inappropriate behavior.
Instead, he kept a straight face, his voice cold as ice, "Who told you to come in?"
Ella knew she had misunderstood.
But her husband was in the study with another woman, holding her hand and rubbing it, alone together - it still made her very uncomfortable.
She didn't think there was anything wrong with barging in. With a stern face, she said angrily,
"Joshua, make her leave."
Scarlett pulled back her hand, pretending to be wronged, and got up to walk toward Ella.
"Ella, my hand might be dislocated. Joshua was just helping me with it. There's nothing between us, don't misunderstand."
She reached out to take Ella's hand.
Deliberately trying to be nice to Ella.
But Ella wasn't stupid - she knew exactly what Scarlett was thinking.
She instinctively stepped back two steps to avoid her, looking at Scarlett coldly.
"Don't you know that Joshua and I are already married? If you didn't know, then I'm telling you now - please stay away from my husband."
Ella knew Joshua loved Scarlett.
If Joshua had to choose, he would definitely choose Scarlett.
The reason she said this to Scarlett was also to push Joshua to divorce her quickly.
Once divorced, she wouldn't care what they did.
"Ella, do you have some misunderstanding about me?"
Scarlett looked guilty.
"I know you and Joshua are married, but Joshua and I aren't what you think. I just..."
"Why bother explaining so much to her?"
Joshua got up and came over, right in front of Ella, directly putting his arm around Scarlett's waist.
Looking at Ella with eyes cold and emotionless.
"Ella, listen carefully. Sooner or later I'll marry Scarlett. She'll become the lady of this house, and you - once you've paid off your debt, get lost."
A woman who had a child with someone else and deceived him - why should he pity or care for her anymore?
All the humiliation he suffered, he would return to her a hundredfold.
Ella felt her heart shatter.
Shattered by Joshua himself, the man she deeply loved.
Especially seeing him in front of her, holding Scarlett, announcing he would marry Scarlett in the future.
She really couldn't bear this humiliation and lost control, raising her voice, "I can leave right now, but please divorce me. As long as you don't divorce me, this will be my home."
"And Scarlett will forever be the mistress who can't see the light of day."
"Ella."
Scarlett's face changed dramatically. No matter how angry she was at what Ella said.
She still maintained her elegance, explaining sweetly, "How can you say that about me? Do you think Joshua doesn't want to divorce you? If it weren't for his grandfather's pressure, he would have divorced you long ago."
"Really?"
Looking at Joshua again, Ella's face flushed red as she threw out, "I'll go talk to Grandpa myself. Acting like anyone wants to be your wife - you're so old, I don't even want you."
She really didn't want to look at the two of them anymore.
Ella turned and left, heading straight to the Thomas Manor to confess to the elders.
Watching her back, Scarlett was furious.
But seeing Joshua had no reaction, she put away her emotions and instigated, "Joshua, since she looks down on you so much, let her go tell your grandfather about the divorce herself."
Joshua had lived for thirty-four years and had never been looked down upon like this.
Calling him old?
Thinking about how he was indeed a full ten years older than Ella.
Sometimes, shouldn't he be more tolerant and accommodating?
Realizing Ella was really going to the Thomas Manor, afraid she would upset Aiden who was seriously ill.
Joshua rushed out after her.
Scarlett quickly followed and grabbed him, "Joshua, just let her go. This is her problem, not yours."
Joshua removed her hand, his face serious.
"You don't know - my grandfather's health hasn't been good lately. He can't handle any stress."
"You go back first. I'll get divorced sooner or later and come to the Lewis family to marry you."
Joshua left Scarlett behind and chased downstairs.
Just as Ella left the villa and was about to walk out of the courtyard, Joshua stepped forward to block her, his tall figure blocking her way.
"Ella, do you want Grandpa to die faster?"
Ella glared at Joshua with red eyes, her emotions out of control, about to cry.
"You forced me to this. You already brought Scarlett home - is there any point in keeping this marriage?"
"Don't you know why I'm doing this?"
Joshua was referring to her having someone else's child and deceiving him.
Ella finally couldn't hold back the bitterness rising in her chest, tears in her eyes.
"I know I was wrong first, but I'm not as bad as you, having an affair during marriage."
"Anyway, in this house, it's either her or me. Make her leave right now."
If Scarlett didn't leave, she would.
She would go straight back to the Thomas Manor to confess everything.
Whatever the consequences, she would bear them alone.
Joshua saw that Scarlett had followed them out.
Looking at Ella crying with her head down, somehow, his heart ached faintly.
Finally, he turned to face Scarlett and said in a deep voice, "You should go back first."
Scarlett knew she couldn't make things difficult for Joshua now.
Otherwise, the gentle, virtuous, and understanding image she'd been maintaining would collapse.
Looking coldly at Ella, Scarlett said softly, "Ella, don't be angry. Before you and Joshua get divorced, if you don't want to see me, then I won't appear anymore."
Then she looked at Joshua with grievance, covered her face crying, and had no choice but to leave Tranquil Villa.
Joshua watched Scarlett's retreating figure, feeling somewhat guilty.
Looking at Ella in front of him again, he asked coldly, "Are you satisfied now?"
