Chapter 150
Walter's face darkened as he turned to look at Pearl, "Do you think I'm stupid enough to raise another man's bastard as my own son?"
Pearl was startled by Walter's anger and nervously clenched her fingers, taking a step back, "What if Nora set this up? What if she did it on purpose?"
"If she had that kind of skill, would she let you bully her?" Walter scolded coldly, "If the Clark family doesn't want your daughter to keep embarrassing herself in public, you'd better take her home and teach her some manners. She dares to hurt my son before even marrying into the Wood family—who knows what stupid things she'll do if she actually marries in!"
Walter cursed Pearl silently for being an idiot.
"Walter." Eloise was getting worried.
"If she does anything else to harm Nora and the child, I'll cancel the wedding immediately." Walter's voice was low and serious.
Eloise looked at Walter in shock, then turned to look at Haven.
Haven was clearly unable to contain his anger. He snorted coldly and left without acknowledging anyone.
"Honey." Eloise called out nervously and chased after him.
Nolan, seeing that Michael had made up his mind and afraid he'd die of anger, followed them out.
This matter could wait until the family dinner to be resolved.
Michael was angry right now and couldn't see the situation clearly or know what was appropriate. Once he calmed down, he'd know he should listen.
In the treatment room.
Aria looked at Michael with red-rimmed eyes, looking pitiful, "Michael, please, for my sake, forgive Pearl, forgive the Clark family this once, okay? The Clark family doesn't want to burn bridges either."
Aria was telling Michael that the Clark family had dirt on him too.
If what happened six years ago was exposed to the media, and Michael refused to marry her, it would become a scandal.
With this scandal, Michael's position at the company's board of directors would become even more difficult.
Luna and James were trying every way to find his weaknesses.
Once bitten by a venomous snake at the throat, you could never turn things around.
"For your sake?" Michael sneered, "I haven't settled accounts with you yet for scheming against me."
Aria gasped, her back going cold.
Was Michael determined to go after Pearl?
"Michael, I didn't mean it that way, don't be like this." Aria spoke again with red-rimmed eyes, "Let us think about it, okay? We'll definitely give you a satisfactory answer."
"Aria," Pearl called out in fear. Michael was really going to stand up for Nora and break with the Clark family.
"Shut up." Aria yelled, then nervously turned to look at Nora, "Nori, for all the wrong things Pearl did to you, let me apologize on her behalf as her sister, okay? What do you want me to do? Should I kneel down for you?"
With that, Aria moved forward to kneel.
"Aria! Don't do this, why should she..." Pearl frantically tried to pull Aria back.
But Aria had already knelt before Nora.
Nora's eyes reddened, knowing this was moral blackmail.
Taking a deep breath, Nora spoke in a trembling voice, "This has nothing to do with you. Even if you kneel, it can't make up for the harm Pearl caused me. I once knelt and begged her too, but did she spare me?"
Pearl looked at Nora with hatred, "Are you bringing up old scores now? It's been so many years, and you're still holding onto those things!"
"Beyond help." Michael held Samuel with one arm and took Nora's wrist with his other hand, walking around Aria to leave, "Tell your parents they have three days. I don't want you to see what I'm capable of."
People like Pearl were beyond help to a suffocating degree.
Michael didn't want Nora to keep facing them.
Just looking at them was causing Nora secondary harm.
"Michael!" Walter frowned and blocked Michael and Nora, "The child is mine."
Michael frowned, clearly having no intention of backing down.
"Nora, are you sure?" Walter looked at Nora threateningly.
Samuel's treatment, the costs, and the connections to bring in specialists—all of this required Walter.
Nora looked at Michael nervously and lowered her head.
"Using the child to threaten her? Just from this alone, you don't deserve to be Samuel's father." Michael warned Walter.
"Michael, my family affairs are none of your business! Samuel is my son, that's an undeniable fact. Give me the child." Walter confronted Michael head-on.
"You two fighting over him—have you thought about asking the child's opinion?" John sat in a chair nearby, checking the time, "You've been occupying public resources for quite a while now. You can leave."
Michael glanced at Samuel and left the hospital with him.
"Samuel, who do you want to go with?" Nora asked quietly.
John was right, they needed to ask the child's opinion.
Samuel looked at Walter, then turned to look at Michael.
One was his biological father, one was his favorite dad.
How should he choose?
"Dad, will you marry my mom?" Samuel asked Walter.
Walter froze, unable to answer Samuel's question directly.
He had told Nora countless times that he could give her everything except the title.
"Samuel, the adult world is complicated. You'll understand when you grow up." Walter tried to comfort him gently. He didn't want to lie to a child.
"The adult world is really complicated, I don't understand it." Samuel said disappointedly, "But Dad, all the other kids' parents are married. If you can't marry Mom, then my family won't be complete."
Walter paused, his throat tightening, wanting to speak but stopping himself.
"Dad, I'm a kid, but I know adults have to take responsibility. Why can't you marry Mom?" Samuel spoke again, so desperately wanting Walter to marry Nora and protect her.
Walter took a deep breath and explained quietly, "Samuel, your mom and I can't get married right now. Because Dad still has things to finish. But Dad will definitely give you and your mom a home, okay?"
Samuel shook his head, "Not okay."
Seeing Samuel's eyes redden, Walter clenched his fists.
"Samuel, come to Mommy." Nora reached out, took Samuel, and held him tightly, "I'm sorry Samuel, Mommy can't give you a complete family, but Mommy will always love you and protect you with all her strength, so even without a dad, it's okay."
Samuel turned to look at Michael, "Daddy."
He called Michael daddy timidly, somewhat uncertainly.
Even his biological father didn't want to marry Nora, let alone Michael who wasn't his biological father. "Daddy, will you marry my mom?"
If he couldn't marry Nora, then he couldn't call Michael daddy anymore.
In a few days, it would be parent day at kindergarten.
There was a parent day activity once a month, which required both mom and dad to attend.
Every child's parents would make time to accompany their child to the activity day. Only Samuel would sit in the corner, watching other kids play games.
He only had a mom, no dad.
