THE FALL OF ANDERSON
THE FALL OF ANDERSON
Damien's pov
I kept hearing gunshots. Was Anderson really doing this? I needed to get out of here now. I struggled to free myself from the chair but couldn't.
Then I used my mouth and began stretching the ropes. It was extremely hard, but I still pulled, gritting my teeth.
The ropes loosened a bit and I began pulling my hand out which I successfully did.
I extended my hand, reaching for the drawer, but I wasn't close. I fell, still tied to the chair.
I needed to release myself before Anderson got back.
I crawled toward the drawer like a snail as the chair dragged behind me. I pulled the drawer out completely; there was a gun, a bullet and a blade. I took the blade and began cutting the ropes.
I was finally free. I loaded the gun with a bullet and headed for the door, but it refused to open.
Anderson had locked me inside. The worst part: I had no spare key, only Marco might know where he had kept it.
“I'll deal with you, Anderson, and you'll beg death to take you.” I exhaled.
I walked slowly back.
“Now!!!” I roared, then ran and hurled my body hard against the door. It only shook but didn't open. I stepped back and pounced on it again; it shook more, but still didn't open.
I moved back again.
“I need to hit it very hard this time if I want it to break.” I muttered.
I closed my eyes and exhaled deeply.
I began hearing a cluster of keys, but I didn't care where they were coming from. I began running toward the door with my eyes still closed, then I pounced on it with all my strength.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Anderson on the floor with the door.
I pulled out my gun immediately and shot his right arm and tried to do the same to the left but he shielded himself with the door as he swallowed the pain.
“I told you! You'll never get away with all that you did!” I yelled as I saw his pistol, which had fallen off when he fell.
I walked toward it, still watching him. As I slowly knelt to pick the pistol up, Anderson threw the door at me. I quickly grabbed the pistol and kicked the door before it hit me.
Anderson began running, trying to hide. Immediately I shot both his legs; he fell to the ground. I shot his second arm as well.
“Ahhhh,” he groaned in pain.
“You see what an emotional and naive leader can do?” I spat at him.
His lips curled in a smirk.
“You're still as stupid and naive as always, just like your father,” he said.
“I warned you about this!” I thundered as I lowered the guns and began punching his face.
I hit him until I felt blood on my fist; his nose and mouth were bleeding.
“Why… did… you… Stop?” he asked, smiling.
“Ahhhh,” I growled, grabbing and stretching his shirt.
“Damien… you need to… grow up… the world you see… isn't as it seems,” he coughed out between bloodied words.
“What do you know about the world?!” I shouted, slapping him.
“I regretted… what I did… honestly,” he said.
I stopped and stared at him.
“I'm very disappointed, Anderson. I never thought this of you,” I admitted.
“You surely didn't… but I guess this is a lesson… to teach you not… to trust anyone… not even those… around you,” he said.
“I've surely learned that from you,” I stated.
He forced a smile.
“I thought I could do it… hearing the amount Lorenzo offered, but… these recent times that you… spoke on my sudden recent changes… You made me want to… regret why I agreed to that deal. I never wanted to betray you, and that is the reason I tortured the captive…never to reveal anything… because I didn't want you to feel betrayed.” He paused.
Anderson!
“I already feel betrayed,” I spat.
“I'm…”
“What do you know about my father?!” I thundered, cutting him off.
“I'm sorry, truly sorry... I don't have much time to live… but if you want to know… then you need to… see Isari… he'll tell you… everything you need to know. Once again, I'm sorry… and about the men… I tried killing them all but just couldn't… you have seventy-five men now! I'm sorry… truly sorry…” he said slowly as his body went limp.
“Anderson!! Anderson!!” I called, shaking his body, but he was gone.
No!! No!!
I knew I shouldn't have sympathy for him… but I did, because he had a place in my heart.
I stared at his body for a while before standing and heading toward the hall.
Arriving at the entrance, I saw dead bodies.
Anderson!! You killed them for… nothing.
I went in and found my men, the seventy-five remaining.
They can't be enough for the battle ahead.
“Boss, Anderson did this,” I heard one of them say.
“How many men went down?” I asked, my gaze fixed on the bodies.
“I've lost count; they're more than twenty,” a voice answered.
How did Anderson achieve this? How could he kill more than twenty men and come out untouched? He was very smart, but not smart enough to survive a naive leader.
From today on, I trust no one. I'll be the mafia lord that I am; I can't take any more crap.
“Clear the bodies and prepare yourselves. We'll be attacked soon,” I warned them, heading back to my office, Anderson's body still there.
“I forgive you, and I'm also sorry for… ending your life,” I muttered as I entered my office.
I began arranging the room back in order. Then I walked to the weapon room.
“He thought he was baffled trying to find out what you're… but I guess he couldn't even see you before his death,” I said, speaking to the weapons.
I walked out of the weapon room to my chair and sat down.
I need to find a way to seek alliances because there are just seventy-five of us.
