Chapter 140: Come Back

Chapter 140: Come Back
Rojan strolled into the mansion's living room.

Earnest immediately came forward to welcome him.

Today, just like every other day had been hectic and he had just rounded up the day's activities.

He usually ended his day by coming home to Wayne and spending the night at the mansion.

"How is he faring today?" He asked Earnest.

"He has remained calm today, there were no mad outbursts so far today," Earnest replied, receiving his briefcase.

"Did he eat his meals?" He inquired.

"Barely touched anything, but we do well to offer him the type of food he likes," Earnest reported.

"I want you to continue to warn the staff to keep their mouth shut about his presence in the house," Rojan instructed.

"I have warned them repeatedly, yet the rumors continue to spread," Earnest explained, then whispered low "It is not something that we can continue to hide, his roars are loud and he constantly bangs on the walls, trying to free himself."

"But his lucid moments are increasing with each passing day. Just as you have reported, he had no mad sessions today," he pointed out.

"Do you truthfully believe he will come back to his normal self? It has been three weeks already," Earnest stated.

"Have faith in him, Wayne will overcome this," Rojan tapped Earnest on the shoulder and continued walking.

He was heading for the room in which Wayne had been locked up. It was below the house, on the basement level. They had chosen to put him there, so that the piercing howls of his beast would be less intimidating and not scare the household staff.

Also, they did not want the screams to be heard from a distance. Despite all the precautions they had taken to clamp down on the situation, the news had spread like wildfire across the plane and even outside of it.

He knew the staff were responsible.

He quickly reduced the number of staff that came or left the house. Vetting all of them and making them swear an oath of secrecy, yet somehow word had gotten out and about.

Only he, Earnest and the royal sentinels, which he had reduced to just Jason and Jordan, had access to have contact with Wayne directly.

He did not reach out to Sabine concerning this matter because he knew this was not what spells or magic could fix.

This was an internal issue, the two sides of Wayne were in conflict. He was battling himself within. His wolf was angry at him and had refused to give him control, while he was somewhere in there, fighting to return back to the fore. To take back control.

Another reason he stayed away from Sabine, was that he had been feeling so bad at how he had reacted to Bernice's change at planet Uranus.

The reaction had been reflexive, from years of deep-seethed aversion. He had not meant to hurt her feelings that way. It was not her he disliked; it was the behaviors of the nymphs that he disliked.

Then again, he could not justify his words because that would mean he wanted them to pursue a relationship. Which he didn't.

He felt sorry that he had rejected her feelings for him, just after he had sex with her. What woman would not be embittered by such a thing?

The timing had been so wrong.

Life was such an irony. While one person wanted to change his mate by all means, another had abandoned a female for changing.

Most nights he lay awake chiding himself for sleeping with her.

Yet, he could not deny that he had enjoyed every moment with her.

While he had found her overbearing when she was present, in her absence he missed the friendship they had. She was funny, lively and full of energy. She was like a breath of fresh air, giving his boring life some kind of fun and color.

He had offended her greatly and now she hated him.

Still, he would not and could not forgo his fated mate and choose her. No matter how much he liked her.

Intervally, he wondered how she was faring, and if she had been able to find a solution to her new transformation.

At the moment, he could not spare the time to go check up on her at Sabine's. Not that he thought she would ever want to see him again, but he would try to mend things with her. They could be good friends since they couldn't be lovers.

Well, all these were notes for the future.

Right now, he had a lot on his plate. Wayne was mad and Candice was missing. He had limited time to handle these matters before the royal court confirmed Wayne's madness and the entire plane would be thrown into chaos.

He was doing his best to keep things under control and he only wished for Wayne to come back to himself.

His footsteps had slowed as he came to a halt just outside the door. His fingers covered the doorknob as he held his breath and braced himself.

Whatever happened, when he opened this door. He needed to be ready for it. He may very well be met with an aggressive explosion.

On several occasions, once the door swung open, the beast had charged the invader of its territory, snarling and flailing his arms with his chains.

Snapping its huge fans and swiping forcefully. Harassing the intruder and straining to get free, so it could pounce and do damage.

Rojan let out the breath he was holding and cracked the door open.

To his relief, the beast sat huddled in a corner on the floor. Chains restrained his wrists and ankles. It was shackled to the wall behind.

These were not ordinary chains, they were magically reinforced. Wayne had it and many other unique items in his personal home gallery. Magical relics and powerful antiques which he had collected and stored over the years on his various quests.

The room was empty, except for a simple wooden chair that was kept close to the door. Earnest usually used the chair as a barrier, when he came to deliver his meals.

Despite his presence, the beast did not stir and acknowledge him. It just gazed into the far end of the wall, its eyes glazed over and emotionless.

This was one of its lucid moments, where the beast was not banging and howling. Striving to break its bonds and roam free.

Whenever he was like this, Rojan tried to talk to Wayne. To see if he could get through to him. Recounting the day's activities to him, reporting his interactions, and complaining about how difficult it was for him to handle things alone. Accusing him of dumping his kingly responsibilities and making him do the extra work.

He conversed with him like he would on a normal day, and prayed in his heart that it will help him get back his sanity.

Seeing him calm, he brought over the chair from the door and sat a few meters away, putting a safe distance between them in case he erupted in one of his rage sessions.

"Hi Wayne, it is I, Rojan," he said, facing him.
