Chapter 24 You?

Chapter 24 You?
VICTORIA

“Simon?” I gasped out in shock, my eyes as wide as saucers.
"It's been you all along?” I spat in annoyance. His lips parted and slammed shut as he searched for words to defend himself with
There was no escape anymore. He has been caught, and I will make sure he pays with his life.

"You! You are the one behind the murders of families? How could you be so monstrous?" I growled, increasing the pressure on his neck.
“Mu…murder?” He coughed out, pretending to be confused and clueless.
I seethed and gripped his neck hard, earning a low groan of pain from him.

"Don't ever think you can lie to me! You've been sending me those emails and letters to keep me shut. I'm not surprised, though, you shamelessly stole my money and properties as well. I make sure you get a death sentence, you devil!” I spat and punched him in the face.

He spat out blood and groaned, then gripped my wrist, wriggling to get my hold off him.

"Why did you kill them? Tell me the truth! Why?” I growled and punched him again.
The anger and pain bubbling inside of me increased as the flashes from the murder scenes filled my head.
He killed people, harassed me incessantly, and destroyed lives, including mine.

Tears blinded my eyes as I slammed my fist on his face, not pausing to listen to his pleas. Blood was smeared over my knuckles, and his hand wrapped around my wrist was getting cold.
I didn't mind killing him at that spot. As long as these serial murders stop, then I don't mind.

“Victoria!" A voice snapped through my mind, and my body froze.

I looked up, and my eyes widened at what I had done. I gasped loudly and pulled my hand away from his neck. Simon slumped down to the ground, his face covered in bruises, while blood dripped from his nose.

“What are you doing?" Connor rushed forward as he pulled me away from him and knelt before him.

I stared at the blood on my knuckles, reflecting on my actions, but the flashes appeared again, and my heart clenched in anger.

I looked up at him, glaring in hate as Connor handed him a wipe to clean up the blood on his face.

“Connor, move away! He doesn't deserve any atom of sympathy!" I spat and lurched towards him again, but Connor grabbed me and pushed me to the wall, his eyes burning.

“Stop! Stop it, Victoria. Why are you doing this, huh? You do know what people will say if this comes out, right?” He snapped.

“Do you know what he did? Do you know how evil he is?" I asked, and he nodded.

“I know, he hurt you so bad…”

"That's not it!” I cut in sharply, and his lips slammed shut.
I pulled him away and glared at Simon, who was still on the floor, trying to stop his bleeding nose.

“That bastard is the serial killer! He's the one responsible for all the killings!" I spat, and Connor gasped.

Simon's head jerked up, and he shook his head, his eyes widening in horror.

“What? Me? Murder? I've never killed someone!" He blurted out, heaving loudly.

“Victoria, you should be careful of the claims you make. This is a serious allegation you're making,” Connor warned.

I nodded and faced him.

"The killer has harassed me multiple times and always sent me letters full of threats that he's watching. I'm sure it's him…” I paused and glared at him, "Who else would have such a bitter grudge against me if not him?”

Simon cursed and pinched his bleeding nose before looking at me again.

"I swear it's not me! Why the fuck will I kill people I don't know?!”

"Maybe for their money!” I fired back, and he scoffed loudly.

"Money? Who the fuck gets money from dead people? It's not me!” He pressed on.

"Victoria…"

“We'll see about that then," I cut Connor off and walked to the restroom door, then picked up the card.

“Here…” I paused when I read the words on the card.

"Hey, Victoria, I know this sounds stupid coming from me, but you look gorgeous in that dress. I hope you'll give me a chance to have a talk with you after— Simon.”

My throat knotted, and I looked up at him.

He sighed and slammed his eyes shut, flushed in embarrassment.

“What the fuck is this?" I asked.

“I just wanted to talk with you…”

"Talk?” Connor scoffed, his lips twitched up in disgust.

"You want my sister back or something?” He asked.

Simon sighed and rubbed his bloodstained hand over his hair.

"I'm sorry for how I treated you back then, Victoria,” he said, and my jaw dropped.

"Sorry? Hah! You must be crazy," my brother snapped, and he gulped.

“But believe me, I know nothing about the murders or the harassment you were facing. I…I just wanted…”

A scream pierced the corridor, and we swerved around.
My heart dropped into my belly when I saw Stella standing at the exit door, her hand over her mouth with eyes wide in horror.

“Shit!" Connor cursed, and before he could get to where his wife stood, the door burst open and more people rushed in.

Erica screamed when she saw her husband on the ground with blood dripping from his nose.

“Bitch! What did you do to him?" She screamed at me as she rushed forward.

She dropped beside and grabbed his face, whimpering.

“You did this, didn't you, huh?" She growled at me, but I said nothing.

I looked at the card in my hand and crushed it, cursing in regret.

I had been wrong and rash at the same time.
But what was more embarrassing was the people in the corridor, watching.
They would definitely accuse me of exacting revenge on him because he left me for someone else.

“Why did you do that?" Rose asked.

“Did you hate him that much?" Stella snapped.

Michael, James, and my father stared at me with disappointment in their eyes.
This would definitely affect them. I was so foolish!

“I knew she wasn't over their divorce."

“Poor man, look at his face."

“She is up to no good. This is not the first time she's attacked someone here."

“It isn't?"

“She attacked Stella, too!"

Murmurs and gossip flew around the corridor, and my heart constricted in anger.

I clenched my fist and glared at Simon.
This was all this bastard's fault.

“I thought you said you had gotten over your love for him. I guess that was a lie, now?" Erica pushed me as she sprang up.

“Hey, lady, that's enough!" Connor snapped, moving towards us, but I stopped him from intervening.

Erica narrowed her eyes at him before switching her glare to me again.

“Did you enjoy letting out your anger on his face? Did you?" She growled, shaking me.

I sighed and looked away to avoid bursting in front of her.

My eyes dimmed, and my breath hitched when I caught the shadow of someone at the corner that led to the balcony. It was him!

“Hold on!" I growled and shoved Erica off.

People gasped as she tripped to the ground, but I didn't care.

I threw the crushed card on the ground and rushed towards the corner after him.

My eyes caught his back as he ran to the balcony.

“Stop right there!" I yelled.
I wished I had a gun with me.

As I covered the spaces between us and reached out to grab his black hoodie, he leaped and jumped over the railing of the balcony.
