Birds Of A Feather Arrested Together
CHAPTER 194
ANTHONY'S POV
"A-Anthony?" I saw the flicker of fear in her eyes.
Martino was with him. He had helped me lure her here with that text message.
"Happy to see me?" My mouth was spread in a thin, mean smile.
She swallowed. "I thought..." Her eyes nervously glanced over Martino, who was quietly watching the drama.
"You thought what? That your boy toy is going to give you money gotten from selling my company?"
She went ashen with shock and disbelief. "How did..."
"How did I know? Okay, I'll tell you." My tone was scathingly bitter. "Two guys came into my home and robbed me of my valuables, including my documents. They shot my legs and killed one of my maids, but not before she had alerted the cops. They came, and I explained all that had happened. Alas, the thieves were nowhere to be found."
I got up from the bed of the motel room I'd come to visit Martino in, approaching her. Anger and vengeance are swirling inside of me.
"But something happened. The guys were caught by Zyliah's friends and taken to the station. I was alerted by the police. I went to see them, and that was when I found out that you, Victoria, had sent those boys, one of whom was the guy you cheated on me with, to come take my documents because, according to them, you deserved everything I have."
She stared, wide-eyed with fear. Terror glinted.
"Turned out the boys deceived you." A bitter laugh rose from my throat.
"P-please." She began to plead.
"What are you pleading for, you fucking whore! You ruined my life!" I raged.
Her expression changed. Hardened. "Well, you ruined mine too! I was your wife, no matter what. Cutting me off from your wealth was very wicked of you!"
The audacity of this woman. That had my anger rise more than it already had. I grabbed her by the throat and slammed her head against the wall.
In my anger, I didn't stop until she went limp in my hands and her head had torn open, pouring blood.
"You've killed her." Martino got up, alarmed and worried.
"Well, the bitch deserved it after ruining my life." I didn't feel remorseful, not even for a second. "I just need to find a way to clean this up."
I released her body. She fell to the ground, dead. Her eyes lifeless.
"Open up this door!" A bang on the door startled me and roused my fear.
Martino looked like he was about to piss his pants.
Before we could think of escaping through the window, the door was broken through and guns pointed at us.
The police? I exchanged fretful stares with Martino. How had they known where to find us?
They noticed the body on the floor. "Whose body is this?" one asked.
"H-his wife. He killed her."
What the hell?! Martino was ready to sell me out. Well, there was no need to deny it. If I was going down, he was going with me. "He was an accomplice."
The glare he gave me was enough to have me dead, but I could care less.
They handcuffed us and led us outside.
"There's a dead body." One of the cops announced as soon as we stepped outside the motel.
My eyes landed on Zyliah. She stood, poker-faced, arms folded, until she saw me. Her eyes narrowed in shock.
She walked up to me. "You're with him?"
"Zyliah, please help me out of this," I begged; she was my last hope.
"Why should I?" Her expression grew taut. "After everything you and your stepfamily put me through. You disowned me. Cut me off. Used my amnesia to have me work for you, you selfish man!" There was a tiny quiver in her voice. "You never cared about me. It was all my brains for you. You used me to grow a company that wasn't even yours!"
"What? Of course it's mine," I argued defensively.
"Don't lie to me." She gritted her teeth. "Don't you dare lie to me. I know everything, Dad. That company belonged to you and Sayge's dad, who was your friend, but you got greedy, betrayed him, and took it all. You took a business you had little idea how to run!"
Martino looked at me. I was suddenly ashamed of myself. I looked away, meeting Oslaz's mother's eyes. She made it obvious she still carried that grudge for me. There was Sayge.
"I... don't know what to say. I—I'm sorry." I met her eyes again, truly feeling remorseful for all I'd done to my only child.
"As if that isn't enough. You tried to get my documents for my companies from my friends. How far are you willing to go to keep ruining others just to climb to the top?!" She spat in my face.
I shook my head, regretting it all. "Princess, please, I..."
"I used to look up to you, but you've proven to be the worst. What should I expect from a man who is friends with someone like him?" The emphasis on 'him' was hateful and bitter. "What's this blood on your body?"
Just then, they brought out the body of Victoria. Zyliah let out a tiny gasp. Her eyes followed the body as the cops brought out a body bag and bagged her.
She looked back at me. "I see your marriage with your wife has ended with one of you dead and the other on their way to prison." She faced Martino. "Let's see how you'll be able to bribe your way out of prison this time."
She swerved on her heel and walked away.
"Zyliah. Zyliah!" I called, but she didn't even glance over her shoulder, not even once.
I obviously didn't deserve being her father anymore. I was the reason my daughter hated me. All because I married the wrong woman and allowed her into my home.
Martino and I were made to enter the vehicle. As it drove off, I kept my gaze on my daughter. She wouldn't even look at me as the vehicle drove away.
It was all over for me. And for the first time, the weight of what I'd unremorsefully done weighed heavily on me.
