Natural Phenomenon

Natural Phenomenon

“Hmm.” A soft moan escaped from my mouth as I adjusted my body on the bed.

The morning brightness pierced the gap between my eyelids, prompting me to close them again.

‘Gosh, the brightness stings.’

Even though it was already morning, I didn't want to leave the warm comfort of the bed.

The hectic battle last night kept me up until the last hour of the night. If it weren't for the gentlemanly culprit who used his energy to soothe the pains across my body, I would have woken up this morning with terrible body pain.

Thinking about Vagamound, I stretched my right hand to the side of the bed, but instead of feeling the warm touch of his body, I was met with the cold touch of the blanket.

‘Huh.’

I moved my hand around, yet was met with the same result.

I slowly opened my eyes and turned my head sideways, realizing that I was the only one in the room.

Where is Vagamound?

I sat upright, the blanket shifting down along with my movements, revealing my entire upper body, which was filled with red hickeys.

I looked around the room once more and then discovered an open door that led to the balcony facing the sea.

Could he be out there?

…

Resting his arms against the balcony railings, Vagamound stared at the vast blue ocean that stretched so far without any end to its sight.

A group of seagulls appeared to have encountered a school of fish, and their cries became louder as they captured their prey with their sharp talons.

Those who were slow to escape the incoming wave were ruthlessly smashed into the water by the sea tide.

Vagamound discovered that the sea had been very restless, constantly washing away sea creatures like crabs, starfish, and turtles onto the coastal sand.

Others might not sense what's happening, but he could see the natural phenomenon going on under the seabed. Due to the geographical shift, more aquatic animals were on their way to migration.

“Wow!” An exclamation rang from behind him, prompting him to turn around.

He saw his wife, Belia, standing before the balcony door, her gaze filled with awe as she stared at the vast blue ocean behind him.

“You're awake.” Vagamound walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist, then leaned forward, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. “You were sleeping so soundly, and I dared not wake you up.”

“This place is so beautiful.” I moved away from Vagamound's embrace and walked to the edge of the balcony railing.

The cool breeze of the ocean swept forward, blowing my hair and the white bathrobe I wore backward.

“Wow.” I held the railing and leaned my body forward, feeling the wind brushing against my face. “It's so refreshing.”

“Careful, or you might fall.” A warm hand wrapped around my waist, stabilizing me from behind.

“Thank you.” I brushed back the hair that was scattered around my face, tucking it behind my ear.

But in seconds, they were immediately released by the breeze and began to flutter around wildly.

“Is this your first time seeing the ocean?” Vagamound's thick voice sounded so close to my ears that my body went weak, almost making me lose my grip on the balcony railing.

Hey, don't you realize what kind of suppressive effect your voice has?

However, I didn't want him to notice the subtle changes that had just happened in my body.

“Is it that obvious?” I asked back.

“Yes.” I could feel him nodding. “The shine in your eyes is unlike anything I've seen before.” His lips came closer, almost touching my ear.

My body trembled in response to his closeness.

“Are you feeling cold?” His face nudged against my neck.

“No. I'm all healthy and energetic.” My knees almost gave way when I felt his warm breath spray across the naked skin of my neck.

Gosh, this is pure torture for me.

“Oh. Since you have that much energy, how about we do it again this morning?” His intention was very clear as his hands slide up my body.

“Not here. Someone might see us.” My hands swiftly caught those naughty hands that were roaming around.

“Don't worry, darling.” He moved backward, turning my body to face him. “We are the only two on this beach.”

Before I could say anything, his lips crashed into mine, swallowing all the breath I had left.

…

By the time the ongoing battle was finished, the golden afternoon sun was already high up in the sky.

“Beast.”

“Sorry.” Vagamound apologized as he wrapped a clean towel around me. He then leaned downward, put his arms around my head and legs, and scooped me up from the bathtub before heading towards the bedroom.

“I'm so sorry.” He apologized again as he placed me onto the bed.

“Get lost.” That was the only two words I could muster before I shut my eyes to sleep.

My entire body was screaming with weakness. Even after Vagamound had used his power to soothe my pain, I still barely had any energy to lift my hand.

Vagamound stared at the girl lying asleep on the bed. Her pale complexion made him realize that he had gone too far.

The difference between an immortal and a mortal is just so vast.

“I will go prepare a nourishing meal for you.” He said and then retreated from the room.
