Chapter 9 The twins

Chapter 9 The twins
Rain’s POV

The kid gasped at me dramatically. “Daddy, I like her. She’s crazy.”

“I am not crazy, little one.” I growled.

“Exactly,” Rosee said. “You’re weird enough to survive this household.”

“I HAVEN’T AGREED TO ANYTHING!”

“You need money.” he scoffed while I froze.

“How do you know that?” My throat tightened.

He didn’t even look up.
“I smelled desperation on you. That's why you agreed to hop on my bed even though you came for the nanny job.”

“Daddy always smells people.” The kid giggled.

I buried my face in my hands, wanting the ground to swallow me.This family was INSANE.

“Rain,” Rosee said, voice suddenly cold and business-like, “I need a temporary nanny. Just for the meantime.”

“I don’t like kids,” I muttered. I lied. All I want to do is disappear and go home.

“Perfect combo. Mine don’t like adults.”

The kid nodded seriously. “We only bit two babysitters last month.”

“WAIT, WHAT?!”

"We bite whenever we are stressed. Nothing serious.” he said proudly.

I stared at Rosee. “So I’m supposed to just...what? Stand there and let them bite me?!”

“This is madness.”

“I’ll pay $300,000 a month. Just endure, they are kids.”

The entire world stopped.I felt my soul fly out the window.
I stood there frozen like a taxidermied squirrel.

“Three… hundred…” I croaked. “Thousand?”

“Per month,” he confirmed, checking his phone.

I nearly fainted again.

“You’ll live here,” he added. “Full time. 24/7.”

“Can't I go home and come the next morning?”

“No.”
He glanced at me, smirking. “Is that a problem? And like I said, you aren’t my type.”

“Not that. What about fangs and your kids that bites?”

“They only bite when they are stressed and angry. Don't get on their nerves and you are good."

“Are you fu-king kidding me."
"Do you want the money or not?"

I swallowed hard.
This was worse than signing a deal with the Devil.

"Do I get health insurance?”

“The heck! For what?”

“Fine,” I sighed. “I’ll take the job.”

Rosee smirked.
"As expected." He rolled his eyes.

Moon Goddess, please give me a sign that I will regret this.

Right on cue, Precious, his butler suddenly burst open.
"We have a problem sir." His voice was urgent and he was trying to catch his breath.

"Spill."

"The council called. It's a state of emergency!"

Rosee stared into his space for some minutes.
"Brief me."

"For some days, there is this strange disappearance of people. The police investigate it but couldn't not trace what's happening. But now, the Alpha son went missing, now the council wants everyone at the meeting."

My ears perked.
The Alpha King’s son…
I remember the letter dad sent to me concerning his son's disappearance.
Rosee stiffened, then buttoned his shirt and slid on black leather gloves and a heavy fur coat.

Rosee sent his son to his room then he left the room, I followed behind him.
We went to his underground garage and holy fu-k! This mothafucka owned an entire luxury fleet of cars!

Ten of the world’s most expensive cars gleamed under spotlight:
Rolls Royce Sweptail
Bugatti La Voiture Noire
Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta
Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita
Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
McLaren Speedtail
Aston Martin Valkyrie
Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta
Mercedes-Maybach Exelero
Rimac Nevera

He pressed a button.
A black Bugatti La Voiture Noire beeped and unlocked.

“Take Rain to her room,” he said. “Explain my rules. Introduce her to the kids. I’ll be back.”

A driver ran toward the car, but Rosee raised her hand.

“I’ll drive myself.”

He slid in and sped off.

Precious motion for me to follow. We took an elevator up into a massive hallway.
“This will be your room.”
I walked in and this room looked like a billionaire princess suite. A whole apartment, not a room.
“Follow me,” Precious said, not giving me a moment to emotionally collapse.
“Time to meet the twins.”

We entered a playroom.

A boy, Noah rode a toy horse, swinging a wooden sword like he was leading a war.
His twin sister, Lia sat in front of a mirror painting her tiny face with enough makeup to host the Oscars.

“Kids!” Precious called.
“This is your new nanny.” He turned to me and said, "Introduce yourself."

I smiled sweetly. “Hi, little angels! My name is Rain. I hope we get along.”

Lia rolled her eyes, dabbed red lipstick messily across her mouth, and sighed.

Lia stood up, arms akimbo. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m your new nanny.”

“Ugh.”
She scooped her makeup into a bag, glaring.
“You kissed my dad at the fountain. Now you chased him here. Daddy says desperate people are the worst.”

"Excuse me?"

“Excuse you,” she snapped.
“And don’t seduce my daddy.”

“I didn’t kiss him, it was a mistake!”

“It was all over the news!”

“I like her,” Noah said. “She’s cool.”

I smiled. “Thanks, Noah. And Lia, I’m not trying to seduce your dad. I don’t even like him. He’s not my type.”

Lia went feral. She screamed and kicked over her makeup box.

“My daddy isn’t your type?! Everyone wants him!”
She stormed off dramatically.

Damn! That escalated fast.

I turned to Precious. “What are the twins' routine, things they like, things they don't."

“That’s for you to figure out.” he cleared his throat.

“What?! I can’t just guess.”

“You’ll have to. Oh and avoid direct contact with Mr. Rosee.”

“Why?”
“He has a severe condition. Physical contact triggers it. He might die if he doesn’t take his medication.”
I blinked repeatedly, trying to make sense of what I just heard.

“Daddy always wears gloves, even when hugging us,” Noah said quietly.

My heart softened at his sad voice.

I knelt and hugged him gently.

“Your daddy loves you. It’s just a disease, I'm sure the doctor will be able to...”

Noah’s eyes sharpened and he chomped into my arm.

“AHHH!!
WHAT THE HECK! WHY DID YOU BITE ME?!”
