Chapter 10 Punishing his kids

Chapter 10 Punishing his kids

Rain’s POV

The mansion door slammed open with a force that shook me.

I stood frozen in the hallway with Precious, both of us turning toward the entrance like two criminals caught in the act. Rosee stepped in dark coat dusted with cold air, hair slightly messy, eyes sharp and stormy.

And he looked… worried.
Which terrified me more than when he almost ate me earlier.

But that wasn’t the shocking part.

No.

The shocking part happened when his gaze drifted past me and landed on his children.
They were on their knees, their hands raised above their heads. Facing the wall like two tiny demons in detention.

Lia looked like she’d been exorcised and Noah looked offended at the air.

Rosee stopped walking and looked at us.
His expression?
A mixture of absolute paralysis, rage, and …confusion.

“What,” he growled slowly, “the HELL am I looking at?”

Noah sniffled dramatically. “Daddy… she punished us.”

“I can see that,” Rosee said, voice dangerously calm. His eyes slid to me. “Why?”

I swallowed. But I refused to be scared.
At least… outwardly.

“Biting,” I said, pointing to Noah.

“And insulting,” I pointed at Lia.

“And throwing makeup at me,” I said again.

“And trying to stab a pillow,” I added.

Rosee stared at me like I’d slapped the moon.

“You punished them,” he repeated.

“Yes.”

“You. Punished. My children.”

“Yes.” I repeated, trying so hard to hide how scared I was.

Even Precious was silently begging me to shut up, blinking Morse code messages for me to run.

But nope.

We were here now. If I died, I died with dignity, I won't allow these kids to disrespect me.

Rosee inhaled deeply, closed his eyes, whispered something that sounded like:
“Why did I hire this woman?”

Then he opened his eyes again sharp, commanding.

“Meet me in the study room.”

Oops, I’d been summoned.

Inside the Study

He shut the door behind us with a soft but threatening click.
I folded my arms. He folded his.
We entered a staring contest.

“Explain,” he said.
So I did.

“Noah bit me because I hugged him. Lia threw her makeup at me because she thinks I’m chasing you which I’m not. Noah tried to stab a pillow because he said he’s training to attack adults.”

Rosee blinked slowly, as if processing the chaos of his children’s existence.

“They bit the last two nannies,” he muttered under his breath.

He finally sighed long and heavy.

“And your solution was… punishment.”

“They’re children,They need discipline.”

“They are still kids.”

“That doesn't...”
"Shh" he placed his hands on his lips and walked closer.

“Release them,” he said.

My jaw clenched, but I nodded and moved toward the door.
Before I could leave, curiosity stabbed me harder than Lia’s eyeliner brush earlier.

“So… the meeting?” I asked casually.

His head swiveled toward me immediately.
“Stay out of my business.”

Okay. Damn.

“I was just asking,”

“I don’t need your involvement. Not your help. Not your opinion.”

The way he said it burned.
But I held his gaze.

“Well,” I said calmly, “I can help.”

His expression hardened. “You know nothing about what’s happening.”

“Maybe not everything,” I replied, “but I know something you don’t.”

“Speak and do that fast.” His voice dropped deep, dangerous, demanding.

I met his eyes and said:

“The Alpha King’s missing son… the one everyone’s searching for… is my brother.”

He was quiet, looking at me.

“You?” Rosee asked slowly. “You’re the Alpha prince’s sister?”

“Yes.”

“Yet you work part-time jobs and you can't even afford a good apartment. Make it make sense.”

“A long story I don't want to talk about."

He exhaled sharply and gestured for me to continue.

“I know where he used to go. He had routines, secret ones. He stopped going to the regular places and started sneaking off to an abandoned textile factory outside Moonfall District.”

Rosee’s entire body tightened.

“And?” he asked.

“He was meeting someone there. Someone the pack didn’t know about. Someone he refused to name.”

Rosee stared at me for a long, heavy moment.
So long I thought maybe I said something wrong.

Then he walked toward me until he stood close enough that I could smell his cologne.
M

“You got all this information… how?”

“He writes to me once in a while.”
I swallowed.

Something flickered in his eyes. Something sharp and curious.

He was impressed and I could feel it.

But Rosee?
Show emotion?
Admit he was impressed?

The world would end first.

“Tell what you just told me to Precious,” he said finally. “And tell no one else.”

I nodded.

He slipped his gloves back on, preparing to leave.

Before he opened the door, he paused.

“And Rain?”

I looked up.

He stared, eyes deep and unreadable.

“Never punish my kids without telling me first.”

I raised a brow. “I’ll still punish them if they try anything funny.”

“You’re… unbelievable.” he scoffed.

“Thanks,” I said sweetly. “I try.”

He shook his head once, muttering something like What did I hire?, then opened the door and left.
