Chapter 15
Hussain POV
"What are you doing here Stefanie? In fact,... How did you even get in the building, let alone on this floor?" I snarled through clenched teeth,
"Oh please, Hussain, you placed Tanya downstairs, she was already doing a bad job as a P.A, they are about to rip her apart downstairs," she chuckled Shit Tanya doesn't know that Stefanie was no longer allowed here, I didn't bother telling her since I didn't think I need to, there is no way she would have bypass Denise but since I fired her and Tanya has taken her place, Stefanie saw that as a window of opportunity and used it to her advantage.
"What are you doing here?" I bit the inside of my cheeks, trying to sustain the anger in me, "Well for starters," her heels clicked against the flooring, "You didn't wire the money to my account, and secondly..." Her eyes landed on Allison, "I am honored to be in the presence of my replacement," She snickered,
Rubbing my eyes due to being exhausted, I glanced over my shoulder at Allison, who was more frightened about us being caught, than Stef’s bickering, maybe she in the back of her head, Stefanie was an employee, well, frankly she was.
"I'll have the money wired to your account within two Stefanie, please leave my premises," I humbly pleaded, because where Stefanie goes, the drama follows and I didn't want the situation to escalate any further, "It's Ali, right?" She continued, taunting Allison, "You look as if you're frightened out of your mind, but don't worry I won't tell anyone... Hussain and I use to do it in here, all the time, did you tell her? The way you use to bend me over on that same desk, sometimes we craved each other so much, we can't wait to go to his condo, do you remember all those times Hussain?" She smirked at me,
"Stefanie," I warned standing from my chair, glaring at her with eyes filled with rage.
"Right here," she touched the desk, "over there... there... there and there," Allison's eyes followed her fingers, pointing at the different part of the office,
"Leave right now Stefanie, don't let me lose my temper,"
"I know 'Ali' is short for something," She continued "But what is it... Alicia? Aliyana? Ali—"
"Son... My name... It's Alison,"
"Ah that's it, such a pretty name for a pretty girl, now tell me, Allison, the contract you signed with Hussain was a one year... two? Six months?"
'That's enough!" I screeched, banging my fist against the desk,
"Say another word, Stefanie, I dare you to say another word!"
"Was it the money Allison? I know a young girl tends to—"
"I-I have to go, I am sorry," Allison hurried past me, pushing through the main door and down the halls, "Allison, wait!" I called out to her, but she didn't look back, she just kept running, and who can blame her.
"Oh my, she is a runner," Stefanie joked looking at Allison sprinting away "She doesn't do that In bed, does she?"
"Listen to me, I was trying not to lose my cool in front of Allison, but now that she is gone, you have to two minutes to get the fuck out of my firm,"
"Oh, please Hussain, I was only joking with the girl, how should I know she was so fragile, she is pretty, seems naive but anyway I will leave your stupid business, just make sure I get what is mine, so I don't have to interrupt... any more of your little sessions," she snickered,
"You have forty-five seconds,"
Swaying her hips as she walked unhurriedly towards the door, pushing it gently with her polished red fingernails, what a sexy bitch, I thought. Leaning back in my leather chair, I popped a cigar in my mouth, igniting the tip as I stared at the cellphone across the desk, trying to figure out if should call her back or not. With each puff of smoke, I could feel my mind being evaluated from my skull, the tobacco residue lingering in my mouth, making my tongue taste funny. Tapping the middle of the cigar the ashes fell off in the container as I lost myself in dreaded thoughts. I didn't need to explain to her what happen, she is under contract and knows that's what we share is simply just sex and nothing else. I already have Maria dealing with so Ms. Parker will have to just think whatever she wants; I owe her nothing.
Wiggling my fingers, trying to soothe the numbness in my hand, I stared through windows, watching the last sun rays for the day, hiding in plain sight, fading away into the horizon as night falls up upon the city. I have been so caught up signing documents, I didn't even realize how quickly the day passed,
"Mr. Myers," someone whispered, tapping lightly on the door,
Veering around my chair, I smiled when I saw her, "Ah Ms. Singh, I didn't know you were in today,"
"Yes Myers, I just came to see how you were doing... you know without P. A and all," she chuckled nervously,
"Toniann if you are here because of Allison, I did interview her this morning, well sort of,"
"Interview her? Sir... I didn't know she even applied,"
"Oh, you didn't, I asked me for a job, and I interviewed her, she did... Ok,"
"She applied without telling me? I am going to kill her,"
"Well, I guess that's something you two need to discuss, safe journey home Singh,"
"Same to you, boss," she smiled, nodding her head at me before closing the door behind her, Listening to her disappearing footsteps, I began to stack the papers on top of each other, checking my cellphone before I slipped it into my pocket, but there was nothing... Well, not from her. Standing from my chair, I slid my jacket off its back. Fixing my suit as I paced towards the elevator, looking back at the main door, wondering if I should take the longer route downstairs, because I do need the time to think, like what am I going to do with Maria, I am afraid to even go to my own house because she's a problem I am yet to solve. Ambling down the stairs, with my head buried to the floor, I nodded at Mark and Tanya who getting ready to leave as well.
"See you guys tomorrow,"
Walking outside the building, I checked my watch, looking around for Aiden, this is strange, he is never la—
"Mr. Myers," he pulled up in front of me, "Mr. Myers, sorry I am late, car trouble,"
"It's ok Aiden," I pulled on the car door handle, "Seems as if today was a bad day for us all,"
"Sorry to hear that sir," he mumbled as I close the door behind me, staring at my legacy through the window, "Aiden,"
"Yes, boss?"
"I think want to spend a few minutes at Dynasty, take me there,"
"Ok," he brought the engines to life, driving out into the busy streets Dynasty wasn't a club for the weak, it was the playground for thugs, pick up spot for billionaires, prostitutes seeking sales from vulnerable men, sophomores, you name it, it's all here and tonight I will drink, forgetting all about my troubles, no Maria, no Stefanie, no... Allison. Stepping out of the car, I straighten my suit, staring at the line of people who want to go inside the club. Shifting my focus to Aiden beside me, I watched him tucking away his firearm his shirt,
"Aiden it's ok, it's me your protecting not the president," I chuckled,
"I know, else I wouldn't be carrying a pistol, a rifle always seemed to get the job done,"
Shaking my head, I looked at the noisy crowd, drunkards tumbling out, shirts stained with vomit, booze, you name it, but this isn't me, I thought, this isn't what I do to escape from my troubles, all I need is a pencil and a piece of paper.
"Hey, Aiden, there will be no need, I think I will go home instead,"
"Change of heart" Aiden chuckled, walking around to the driver side,
"Yeah, something like that," I mumbled,
In the back of the car, I started through the window, listening to the radio station Aiden played as he drove me home,
"Never knew you were a man of love," I teased the song selections, "And what makes you say so, Mr. Myers?"
"I-I don't know, it just never occurred to me,"
"We all are capable of loving Mr. Myers, all it takes is the right person to come along,"
"Not for me Aiden," I mumbled, "Not for me,"
Driving up the driveway, I told Aiden I rather to walk, I need the remaining minutes of peace I could get. Striding towards the house I had my hands stuffed in my pockets, my head hanging low, crammed with troubled thoughts. Twisting the doorknob, I pushed the door inwards, seeing a brown, shoulder-length hair woman seat on the sofa, across from Maria who blushed slightly staring at her. Slamming the door, to get their attention, Maria locked eyes with me, and the stranger's head twisted slowly, looking at me over her shoulders. Recognizing half of her face my heart sank, when she turned to me, coming into full view,
"Hello, Hussain,"
"M-Mom?"
