There in our woods, we shed our clothes but not just our clothes because we shed some of our doubts too. For him, to accept the possibility that a child I'm carrying might not be his, is huge. Shifters especially wolf shifters are known for their loyalty, determination, immense protectiveness, and need to follow traditions based on what I have read and feel. It is also why Sam is the Alpha and not Gran even though she's an elder. She's still a woman and shifters don't allow a woman to lead alone for long. It's always a single male until he finds his mate. His mate is usually the same type of shifter or a human that can be turned. Then you have me. I'm not a shifter truly but have the ability. I am a goddess and have made my men into Gods. Just what will our children be? Our children! Holy shit!
But he was not a normal wolf shifter before I came along either. However, what he was doesn't matter to me. I know who he is and that he was meant for me. I just feel an odd sense of peace, like I'm home. Sam is my home.
“Sam,” I whisper as I run my fingers through his long hair to loosen his ponytail.
He half closes his eyes as I caress his jaw now that I have freed his hair, “What Eva?”
“Tell me about how you knew that I was yours.”
Sam kisses my nose, “I knew going to that masquerade would change things. I didn't expect to find my mate, however. Then I caught this scent and it was unlike any I had ever smelled. I walked around trying to find it until I saw you and Katie happily chatting with Vincent. That irritated me to no end. Is he okay for a vampire? Yes, but he was talking to women who intrigued me. I didn't know if the scent was yours or Katie's until you came to the table. Once our eyes locked I knew but I suspected that you weren't a shifter then too and weren't human. In that moment, I didn't care about what you were and I still don't. I felt you but the pull to you I felt even more so. I knew you were my mate right then because both me and my wolf imprinted. I just didn't know how to help you see that. Why I only kissed your cheek even
though I wanted to claim your lips.”
I know how we met, but I love hearing him tell it even more so. It makes my soul reach for him even more. We are bound. I recite a quote, “I recognized you instantly. All of our lives flashed through my mind in a split second. I felt a pull so strongly towards you that I almost couldn't stop it. -J. Sterling”
Sam grins, “Exactly! But I no longer have to hold back!”
I give him a playful wink, “Exactly.”
He smiles and chuckles. I love it when he does too. It makes him look so handsomely boyish that I just want to do all sorts of things with and to him. He brings me this ease and comfort that the other guys don't. He is my security blanket as he both protects me and provides warmth. He lights me up from within.
Sam chuckles as he pulls me closer, “Using my words against me, huh?”
“Only if it's working,” I tease as I bite my bottom lip.
Sam sucks my lip free, “It so is! I love you, Snow White.”
“I love you too, my princely wolf.” His lips claimed mine. I sucked his bottom lip into my mouth eliciting a moan followed by a growl from his succulent lips.
I grabbed a fist full of his hair as his tongue invaded my mouth. I'm aching for him. He grabs my wrists and presses them to the tree trunk over my head as he gazes into my eyes as I feel the head of his rock-hard cock poise itself at my entrance. “I want to savor this but…”
“I feel it too! Take me, we have an eternity ahead.” He thrusts up into me and we both cry out. He holds still and kisses me hard as I wrap my legs tighter around his waist pulling him in as close as our bodies will allow “I'm yours!”
Sam kisses my jaw and neck, “As I am yours, my Luna, my wife, my life.”
Before long, we are a sweaty mess but closer than before. He let go of my wrists as he kissed me tenderly and ran his fingers through my matting hair. There was this warmth and then this pulsing light. As it faded, tiny specks of colored light appeared. They seemed to dance and whiz through the air. It was beautiful. They got closer as he stood holding me in our naked embrace. The lights formed ribbons and encircled us.
Sam says, “Pixies.”
“Like Tinkerbell?”
Sam chuckles as he kisses the top of my head, “Yes.”
“They exist?”
His eyes twinkle, “They do now. I'm sure they did long ago too.”
“Because often legends and myths are based on some truths.”
He grins, “Yes.”
I stare at the myriad of dancing pixie lights as if I am watching a fireworks display, “They're so beautiful!”
“Yes, but they can be feisty tricksters too. A bit like you,” he teases.
“Even more reason for me to like them!”
“You are so much trouble!” he says as he shakes his head.
“Yet, you say it with a huge grin.”
Sam nods, “Because I love you and any trouble you bring.” We kissed and I snapped for our clothes to return. I reached my hand out and this little purplish-blue light landed on it.
Sam asks, “Are you controlling it?”
“No.”
Then the pixie left my hand and hovered as it transformed. We watched it grow from a tiny light into a tiny person before becoming a full-sized woman. She has iridescent wings, long blue and purple hair, and is wearing a shimmering gown that changes colors.”
“Finally!” she exclaims.
“Umm, hello.”
She rolled her eyes and then giggled, “I'm Amira. These are my people as I am their queen.” She fluttered her wings as she walked up to us. She touched our hair as her hands slid down allowing her palm to rest over our hearts as she spoke, “Such fire mixed with beauty and power. So much power too. You both can restore the lost!”
“I already brought back mermaids and sirens, I think.”
She shakes her head, “He can't bring dark, only light. So he couldn't bring forth anything born in darkness.”
“It wasn't with him. He isn't my only mate.”
Amira gasps, “You have more than one king?”
“I have no kings. I have my mates who are my equals.”
Sam nods as he nibbles my neck, “It's true.”
Amira puts her hands on my stomach and I feel warmth as she speaks, “The are only lights. They can't be bred from darkness.”
“But they aren't only lights either. They are both because they came from love.” Then I recite a quote to better explain, "Every moment is made glorious by the light of love. Nothing glows brighter than the heart awakened to the unseen light of love that lives within it. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. -Rumi”
“Please take me back with you. I wish to see,” she says.
“Alright but please behave a bit. The other guys may not be as receptive because they are assholes.”
“Why?” she asks as she flutters her wings.
Sam grins, “You'll see.”
We laugh as she turns back into her light and rides on my shoulder. The others follow in a beautiful river of lights. I wonder if Morgan knows why pixies went extinct. I guess we will find out!
