Alone with the guilt one

Alone with the guilt one

Thalia's POV

From where I stood I saw some security men who walked toward where I was.

The boys surrounded me. Milo was the first to pull me into a tight hug. At the corner of my eyes, I saw Mr. Robert stop the security men midway, talking to them about God knows what.

I held myself from crying, but deep down I felt exhausted and sad at the same time. At least it was just the book the Alpha requested. But how they would find it? I really didn't know.

I pulled away from Milo when I heard his voice. “I will stay with her,” he blurted, holding my hand.

My eyes widened. Why would he stay? Lord, this was tough because I didn't even want any of them to leave, but this wasn't the time for my selfish interest.

“Milo, you know you can't stay with her.” This time it was Mr. Robert who spoke. He walked to where we stood. And with the way the security stood and didn’t come for me, it seemed he told them to give us some time.

I sighed. To be honest, if they wanted to find Savena, they all needed themselves, but now one of them had to stay, which might put them in a slight disadvantage.

“I will stay.” I heard a low voice behind me, making me turn to see Jax who stared at me with a calm posture. If I couldn't detect people's gestures, I would have mistaken his posture as someone who was not worried.

“No, I said it first. I will stay with her,” Milo said, removing his hand from mine while glaring at Jax.

I exhaled sharply. Even in an important moment like this, Milo always became the first person to lose his cool.

They continued going back and forth, arguing about who would stay until Rhys stepped in.

“I will stay,” he blurted with a calm voice, his gaze on everyone except me.

My heart skipped. I felt like Rhys had been avoiding me for reasons I don't know.

“Hey, don’t try to take my place,” Milo bellowed at Rhys with a glare.

Rhys exhaled heavily. “If there’s anyone here who has to stay, it should be me. I caused this to begin with, so I will take responsibilities for my action,” Rhys said with a calm voice.

Then he walked toward the security men who stood not too far from us.

My mouth hung open. Everyone just went mute until Blaze walked to where I was.

He stood so close to me that I could perceive his cologne, “I will make sure to get you out within the next forty-eight hours,” he whispered as he cupped my cheeks.

I smiled a sad one, while looking up at him. I noticed his eyes had lost their spark while staring down at me. Suddenly he bent and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead before he stepped back slowly.

Then Jax walked closer to me. Without saying a word he pulled me into a hug. My eyes at this point watered. Fuck!

The dam in my eyes broke. Jax buried his face in the crook of my neck.

Tears was already streaming my eyes now.

My hand wrapped around his waist. For what seemed like a long minutes we didn't say anything. Just this hug. And I understand Jax. He didn't have to say it.

Seconds later he stepped back.

Then came Milo.

“I will miss you.” He murmured as he raised my hand and placed it on his face.

“What do I do without you, Thalia?” he whispered, his eyes getting glassy.

Fuck!

“Milo…” I whispered, sniffing.

“Shhhh… don't cry.” He said even though he was already at verge of crying himself.”

I nodded my head. Sniffing hard. “You just have to make sure you get me out of here,” I said forming a fake sad smile, while staring into his eyes.

“I will.” he whispered. Tugging strands of hair off my face. “Stay pretty in here and if any of them goes rough, he pointed at the guards. They will have me to contend with.”

I nidded. Milo always had a way of making me smile.

Eventually, I braced myself, I patted Milo’s cheek before stepping away from him. I stared at their faces. I wanted to talk to my stepfather, but I didn't know what to say.

So I turned and walked to where Rhys stood with the security men. When I got there, the men just waved for me to follow them.

And I really didn’t want to look back, but damn, my heart felt stiff. It was as though it was being squeezed tightly.

I looked behind me for a brief moment, and I could see the way they stared as though they really didn’t want me to go.

Immediately I turned and the path out of the courtroom, streems of tears came pouring.

They will get you out of here Thalia. I encouraged myself even though I wasn't certain of the possibilities.

After a long walk, we were led into a room. Stepping into the room, I thought they would give us two different rooms. Well, the opposite was the case.

“If you need anything, ring the telecom on the side of the bed,” one of the men said before they walked out. I wanted to say something, but they already jammed the door shut.

Phew!

I held my breath, staring at Rhys who had already walked to where there was a mini living room.

My eyes darted around the room. There were few paintings hung on the wall, and the space was almost twice as large as my bedroom at home.

I walked to the bed, pressed my hand on the mattress.

My gaze shifted to Rhys again, he was now seated on the couch head on thighs. I wanted to go to him, but I debated against it, he haven't been talking to me so… I should as well mind my business right?

I moved walking to the bathroom because I needed to take a shower.

I made my way into the bathroom,

Damn….

My eyes couldn’t get wider at the beauty in front of me.

I wasn’t sure if we were offenders at this point because who locked people in such a five-star suite? Instead of prisons.

I quickly discarded my clothes and went under the shower, and just like I predicted, it was refreshing that I for a second, forgot why I was here.

After showering, I went into the closet. Perhaps there might be some clothes.
Jarring the closet door open, there really was few clothes here.

But they were just big plain shirts and pants that were nowhere close to my size.

I sighed. Got no choice. I was a prisoner and…

I threw a shirt on and walked out of the closet.

But then, My eyes fell on Rhys.

He was now seated with a drink in his hand.

Should I go talk to him?

Maybe I should let him be?

Before I knew it, my legs had already made it's way to where he was. “Hey,” I called, he glanced at me briefly, then went back to drinking.

I exhaled frustratingly taking one more step forward.

“Is there a problem, Rhys?” I asked.

“No, thank you Thalia.” He murmured. Not looking at me.

There definitely is a problem and I can't just let him drink like this.

I moved to seat beside him. “Rhys, what's the problem. Or am I the problem?”

If I had offended him, he should at least tell me, and if I was wrong, I would apologize. I hated the cold shoulder he is giving me.

“It’s not you, Thalia. It’s me,” I heard his low voice, followed by a gulp of alcohol before he set it on the table in front of him.

My brow furrowed. As I took the glass of alcohol away from him.

“It’s not me, it’s you? Is that why you are punishing me by giving me cold shoulder?” I asked, staring at his face.

He sat back, leaning deeper into the couch, his eyes closed. “I want to be alone,” he said with his hand on his head.

I scoffed, because what the hell was he playing at? He came all the way here to be with me, and now he said he wanted to be alone.

“Why were you here when you knew you wanted to be alone?” I said with my voice a bit higher. I was clearly frustrated. If he wanted privacy, why did he volunteer to be here in the first place?
This was hard on me too. And the last thing I wanted was to be with someone who wouldn't talk to me. Talk of wanting to be alone.

He opened his eyes his gaze on me, and with the way his eyes looked, it seemed like he was a bit tipsy.

“I am stupid Thalia. So fucking stupid.” he whispered, shifting closer to me. “I don't deserve you, Thalia. You're too good fo...” I didn’t let him finish his statement before I pressed my lips on his.

My heart raced. How could he say something like that? I worked my lips against his as I waited desperately for his response

But, he didn’t respond. He just sat there, motionless, not moving a muscle, I pulled back.

I stared at his face that was less than an inch away from mine. “Rhys?” I called looking into his eyes. My heart…

But he said nothing, he stood and started walking away.
I stared at him until… he disappeared into the restroom.

My heart…

I couldnt breathe. I cluched my chest.

It stung.

It stung so hard. So hard that it felt like I would die.

I didn’t even know when I gulped the remaining alcohol he left in his glass.

A short chuckle left my mouth. My vision blurred.

How stupid of me, when did I start being so delusional… did I really think I had a chance?

When i was not Savena?
