Something is wrong with Rhys.

Something is wrong with Rhys.
Sevena’s POV
When I got into the lair, my eyes darted around for a brief moment. I could see the hostility they all held against me.

I wanted to roll my eyes at the stupid Thalia who clung to Rhys like glue.

Well, it wasn’t like I cared. While she busied herself talking to Rhys, I used that opportunity to stare around the room, and to God being on my fucking side, I saw the so-called forbidden book laying on the desk.

I quickly shifted my gaze back to the scene going on. Why was she looking at him like that? Oh no, wait, don’t tell me, what the fuck? Was she in love with Rhys? I asked inwardly.

And yes, it was so clear as day. The way her eyes were about to water while she stared at Rhys made me want to laugh so bad.

Poor girl, she fell in love with her stepbrother. I tugged Rhys’s shirt as she stepped back.

I gave him the glance that we could just leave, that I was okay. Well, I was okay. I had found what I came for, so they could fuck with themselves.

Reluctantly, Rhys pulled me out of the room. We both walked in silence till we got to his room.

My steps halted, then I stood in front of him. “Are you okay?” I asked with fake concern.

I saw him sigh. “I don’t know. I just fe…feel bad,” he stuttered, staring into space.

I eyed him before placing my hand on his. “You don’t have to feel bad,” I whispered with a gentle voice. Then his eyes shifted to mine.

“But…”

“Shush. They don’t understand you now, but trust me, they will understand you later,” I assured, smiling at him.
I saw him stare deep into my eyes. Even though it made me feel uncomfortable, I still tried to smile at him.

“You’re different,” Rhys said suddenly.

My heart skipped. Blinking at him, I asked gently, “What do you mean?”

“You make me feel different. I don’t know how to put it,” Rhys said as he frowned hard.

Don’t tell me he suspected something. Shit, he’s the last person I would want to be suspicious of me.

So I decided to do what I knew how to do best. “Oh, now I understand,” I whispered, biting my lips as I tried to step away from him.

His hand held mine. “What do you understand?” he asked, staring at my face.

I snorted and yanked my hand away from his. “You think I don’t know?” I questioned, making him frown in confusion.

“Savena,” he called gently as he tried to come closer to me.

I raised my hand at him. “Don’t, Rhys,” I stopped him from moving closer.

Then I looked into his eyes. “The problem is me. It’s been five freaking years, and I’m still holding onto something that is gone,” I whispered as tears welled in my eyes.

Rhys’s shoulders slumped. “What do you mean?” he asked, still coming closer to me.

Suddenly, my hand grabbed the scissors on the table. “I swear, if you come any closer, I will stab myself!” I snapped at him, placing the scissors on my belly.

Rhys just stood in shock. I let my tears slip out of my eyes. “You think I don’t know you love Thalia?” I blurted with a sarcastic laugh.

I saw Rhys’s eyes widen as though I had caught him red-handed. “How do you… No, Savena, it’s not what you think,” he said, but he didn’t come closer to me.

I tossed the scissors on the table. “I will love to be alone,” I whispered, cleaning my tears as I stared at him.

It seemed like he wanted to say something, but he just nodded in agreement. He turned, about to leave. But halted and stared at me one last time before walking out of the room.

Immediately he left, I jumped on the bed and wiped my tears. “What a fool,” I whispered, closing my eyes for a brief moment.

Then I jumped off the bed, went to the door, and made sure to lock it before walking to the middle of the room, connecting the neutral link.

“Hello, boss,” I whispered with my hand on my head.
“Any news?” Dr. Raymond asked. I guessed Master Myles wasn’t in the lab right now.

“I found the forbidden book,” I said in a low voice, with my eyes darting around the room.

“Okay, that’s good. You have two days to get your hand on the book, then we will take it from there,” Dr. Raymond said with a stern voice.

“Noted, boss,” I murmured. Before I could cut the link between us, I heard Dr. Raymond’s voice again.

“I hope you’re keeping a close eye on Thalia?” he questioned. My hand tightened on my head.

“Yes, boss,” I whispered. Without uttering another word, Dr. Raymond disconnected the neutral link.

I placed my hand on my head, Thalia this Thalia that, I'm fucking sick of that bitch name.

I closed my eyes for a moment, but suddenly I remembered something. “Shit!” I whispered-yelled.

I had forgotten to know the reason why Thalia had called an emergency meeting in the first place. I was supposed to keep a close eye on them!

I quickly stood. I opened the door and stared outside the corridor. When I saw it was empty, I made my way down to the lair.

When I got to the door, the first thing my ear caught was, “I think Savena is doing something to Rhys.” My gaze darkened because I knew that voice belonged to that stupid Thalia.

I kept my ear glued to the door. Out of the blue, I felt something moving on my back. My hand moved as it slapped it away.

Unfortunately I stumbled on my pants trouser, making me collapse on the floor with a loud noise.

My eyes widened when I realized what just happened. Fuck. I moved fast to the nearest corridor when I heard the door open.

I knew that scent, that’s Milo. Oh shit, it wasn’t just Milo. It seemed they all came out. My body stiffened. If I get caught, then I'm screwed.

I heard the steps of Thalia coming towards where I was hiding. I held my breath, staying glued to the wall. However, I heard her steps stop, followed by Rhys’s voice.

Taking that as my clue to escape, I quickly tiptoed out and dashed toward Rhys’s room.

When I got to the room, I ran my hand through my hair. “Fuck!” I cursed their stupid footsteps.

I pulled my pants and threw them under the bed. Immediately I climbed the bed, the door was pushed open.
