Chapter 77 CHAPTER 077

Chapter 77 CHAPTER 077
“Anna, it’s—not—” Monica started, her voice trembling as her heart raced with guilt.

“Wow. You are truly something else, Monica… a fucking desperate whore,” Anna cut her off, anger and disbelief lacing her words.

“I didn’t mean to! James deceived me. He… he forced me,” Monica stammered.

Anna leaned forward, her voice a harsh whisper. “Forced you? Did he force you to sleep with him? Because that’s not what it looked like that night. You were on top of him, riding his cock, pleasure all over your face, moaning his name like you didn’t have a care in the world.”

Monica’s face flushed a deep red.

She averted her eyes, staring blankly out the window, saying nothing.

Another heavy silence hung between them, thick with tension.

Anna took deep breaths, trying to control her anger.

“You know… you could have had any man in the world, and yet you chose my fiancé,” she said, breaking the silence.

Monica turned slowly to her, her face tense, eyes flicking nervously.

“Anna… I’m sorry for hurting you. I’m… I’m not proud of what I did. I… I regret it every single day. James manipulated me… he made me fall for him…”

“Oh, cut the act, Monica!” Anna snapped, crossing her arms. “It doesn’t suit you. Don’t play the victim. James told me everything—how you manipulated him, how you suggested he sell me off to clear his debt.”

Monica’s head jerked up. “That’s a lie! He’s lying! I would never do such a thing, Anna!”

“At this point,” Anna said, her voice cold, “I think you’re capable of anything. You’re so fucking desperate that you slept with your best friend’s man for a whole year behind her back.” She ran a frustrated hand through her hair. “Gosh… I Ioathe ever having someone as despicable as you as my friend. I wish I had never met you.”

Monica flinched as if she’d been slapped.

A tear slipped down her cheek.

“I know what I did was vile. I regret it deeply,” she admitted, her voice trembling. “But James lied to you. None of what he told you was true. I never manipulated him. He told me he had caught you cheating on him so many times and was going to break up with you, and you were going your separate ways. He said he didn’t love you anymore… he loved me.”

“So you believed him and fell in love with him?” Anna asked, her tone dripping with disdain.

Monica’s gaze dropped to the floor. “I did.”

“Wow,” Anna muttered, letting out a low, bitter chuckle. She uncrossed her arms and ran a hand through her hair. “If you two are clearly in love with each other, why are you here asking for my forgiveness? You should just go and live happily ever after with each other.”

“We can’t.”

“Why is that?” Anna asked, her brows furrowing.

“James is a very bad person, Anna.” Monica looked up, her voice dropping low. “I found out he was involved in illegal business and confronted him about it, but he lied, saying I was just mistaken. One day, I sneaked into his room to check his files… and he caught me. He beat me while I was pregnant until I passed out. From that moment on, he became abusive. He would hit me at the slightest opportunity. If I rejected him, he would force himself on me. He turned into a completely different person, a monster who pretended to be a good man. I tried contacting you for months to warn you about James, but I couldn’t reach you. I even came to your apartment several times to meet you, yet I never saw you. When I asked James about you, he told me you had moved to another city because you couldn’t handle the heartbreak.”

Anna sat in complete shock as she listened to Monica, trying to process everything she had just heard.

She didn’t know whether to believe her or not, because for all she knew, Monica could be lying.

Monica took a shaky breath and rested her hands on her stomach. “I found out I was three months pregnant a few days after you caught me and James. I told him, and he begged me to keep the child, saying we would start a family together. I was so happy… even with his constant abuse and threats, I still stayed for the child and kept telling myself he would change one day. A few weeks ago, I spent the night at his place. In the middle of the night, he took a call, thinking I was asleep, but I wasn’t. I overheard him talking on the phone about how he was going to kidnap some children from the orphanage and sell their organs for money. He also mentioned a name I could never forget—El Feroz.”

Anna’s blood ran cold. “El Feroz?”

“Yes,” Monica nodded vigorously. “I think James is working for him.”

Anna’s head spun.

El Feroz…

A name she had been hearing far too often.

“If Monica is telling the truth… could James have given the Boss’s blueprint to El Feroz instead of the chief inspector, as he claimed?” Anna murmured under her breath.

“How do I know you’re not lying?” Anna asked Monica. “How do I know you’re not just making up a story so I’ll believe you and forgive you?”

“I’m not lying! Why would I?” Monica’s voice cracked.

“There are a lot of reasons for you to… Did you report James to the police when you found out?”

“No… I didn’t.”

“Why? If what you’re saying is true, that means James is dangerous.”

“I… I was so in love with him at the time that I couldn’t bring myself to.”

Anna rubbed her forehead. “Oh my God, Monica!”

“But we’re not together anymore. I left him when I found out he had evil plans for our baby… plans to sell its organs once it’s born.”

Anna’s hands flew to her mouth, her eyes widening in horror.

Could what Monica be saying be true?

Was that why James also begged her not to abort her baby—because he wanted to sell its organs too?

“I’m sorry, Anna. I’m really sorry.” Monica reached across the table and took Anna’s hand. “I regret what I did. You can curse me, yell at me, do whatever you want… but please, find it in your heart to forgive me. You are like a sister to me.

The thought of us never speaking again haunts me.”

Anna pulled her hand back from Monica’s. “The only reason you’re apologizing to me right now is because James treated you like trash and made you regret being with him. Don’t pretend it’s anything more than that.”

“No, it’s not, I—”

Anna raised her hand. “You and I both know that if James hadn’t done any of that, if he had treated you right, you wouldn’t be here begging me. You’d be with him, living your best life, starting your new family just like he promised. And if we ever crossed paths, you’d probably laugh in my face.”

Anna’s words hit Monica hard, sinking straight to the bone.

She froze.

Her lips parted, but no words came out.

She couldn’t deny it.

Tears welled in her eyes, and she let her head fall, letting them spill down her face.

The café door jingled sharply.

The taller guard stepped inside, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on Anna.

“Time’s up,” the guard said, his voice cutting through the café. “Let’s go, Anna.”

“Alright.” Anna rose from her seat.

“Don’t go yet!” Monica lifted her head and shot to her feet, grabbing Anna’s hand again. Desperation shook her voice.

“Please… forgive me. I know there’s still a soft spot for me in your heart. I was just being naive and stupid. I didn’t know what I was doing. You said I was like a sister to you, remember? So please… forgive your sister.”

Anna looked down at Monica’s hand gripping hers, then lifted her gaze to Monica’s tear-streaked face. “Stop begging me. You sound pathetic.”

She yanked her hand free from Monica’s, as if her touch had burned her. “I’m not forgiving you, Monica. Never. Not in this life. I was wrong to call you my sister. You aren’t. You never were. A sister would never do what you did to me.” She stepped back. “So please… let’s never cross paths again. Have a good life with your baby.”
