Chapter 58 58

Chapter 58 58
CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT

LUCIAN'S P.O.V

"Get out," I growled, my voice low. "Get out of my pack, and don't come back."

He made as if he was going to argue, I braced myself but then he nodded, his face expressionless, and turned to leave.
But I wasn't done.

"And Alpha Kieran," I said, my voice cold, my eyes fixed on him. "If anything happens to her, I'll never forgive you."

He stopped and turned to stare at me, his eyes flickered, and for a moment, I saw a glimpse of pain, but instead of it to disappear, a look of determination settled on his face.

"I'll find her, Lucian," he said, his voice low. "I promise."

I growled at him
"Don't promise to find her, I will find her. You just pray she's alive and safe."

I watched him leave, my heart loosening a little at the sight of him leaving.

I went back inside my study, I couldn't bear the thought of staying I'm my room just next to hers. So I settled in my chair and placed my hand under my chin. I stayed in that position the whole night until the sound of the door opening roused me fully awake.

"Lucian." Mom's voice was soft as she called my name, I squinted to look at her face. A little color had appeared on her cheeks and she didn't look so tired anymore. I'm glad.

"Hey mom." I answered while yawning and stretching my body.

"Did you stay here all night?"

I nodded, she sighed.

"You need to rest, you just woke up. Have you even eaten anything."

"Mom, I'll rest when I've found her and as for eating, I'm not hungry." Then I added, "Don't worry about me, I'm fine."

She opened her mouth to argue, her eyes already narrowed but I interrupted.

"That reminds me, where's Griffin?"

Just at that moment, the door was pushed open and Griffin rushed in, panting.

"I heard the news. Lucian." His voice shook a little as he approached me slowly, his eyes carefully scanning me. With a wry smile I stood up and took him in a bro hug. His grip on my back was tight as he whispered.

"Its good to see you back."

"Its good to see you too."

We separated, that's when he awkwardly noticed mom and greeted her in a hurry.

"I'll leave you two to discuss. But please remember to take things easy."

I nodded and smiled, the smile falling off as soon as she was gone.

"Are you starting the search today?"

Griffin went straight to the point. That's what I liked about him, he never beat around the bush whenever we had something serious.

I pursed my lips and nodded, crossing my hands across my chest.
"I already informed everyone to start the search yesterday. I'm going to scout every nook and corner, I won't give up."

He nodded, his eyes lowered in thought.
"Do you have any idea who could have taken her?"

"I don't. It beats me...there's no way it could be Kieran."

"He's gone."

"I know. I made him leave yesterday."

"Then what are we waiting for, let's start searching for her."

My eyes snapped to his face, his lips were pressed tight, jaw hard and hands balled in his fist as he looked at me with a determined gaze.

"Let's go."

The search went on all day, the pack scouring the forest, calling out Aurora's name, but there was nothing. We even ventured out of the pack's borders, almost entering the neighboring pack but stopped once we knew it was hopeless.

This continued for two days and I was beginning to lose hope. On the third day, as the sun began to set, I sat in my study, my head in my hands, my mind reeling with fear and guilt.

Why hadn't I woken up in time to stop her from thinking of leaving? Why hadn't I woken up in time to save her? What kind of a fool goes into coma after a brief fight? Me, that's who. I left her to fend off the guilt and blame directions at her from the pack members. I'm such a failure. What if I'm too late and she ends up dead before I can even reach her?

'Shut up!'

My wolf suddenly roared at me, he was right. These were all just baseless fears, I should instead keep searching. The door suddenly slammed open making me jump on my seat.

"Lucian!" Griffin yelled, his chest hearing, the middle of his shirt dark with sweat, he must have run a long way.

I stood up, my eyes alert.
"What is it? Any luck?"

"They found a trace of blood leading out of the pack's boundary, just behind the pack. It might be Aurora's."

A feeling of dread settled in my stomach, I commanded.
"Take me there."

This time, we used a car to drive down there, arriving in ten minutes. It ws situated in  a barren area covered in dried plants and twigs, there wasn't even the sound of birds. I was out of the car in a flash not taking time to pack the car

"Where is it?" I barked.

"Here, alpha."
One of the men called and I went over.

A hiss escaped my lips as soon as I scented it, my legs suddenly got weak. I gritted my teeth together as I forced myself to walk. And right there in front of me, just trailing on a barely there path was a long line of darkened blood, some had splattered to the bushes beside it.

"No. No. It can't be!" I gasped as I felt my knees hitting the ground.

My legs suddenly felt heavy, my vision blurred and a loud ringing noise echoed in my ears.
She can't be dead. She can't be dead.

As I was losing my sanity, I felt someone shaking me forcefully.

"Hey! Lucian! You have to snap out of it! She's not dead, its just a small line of blood. Snap out of it!"

Immediately I shook my head. He was right, the blood wasn't even that big to cause any danger. It was just a light straight trail of blood and a little splash by the sides. She was alive, I just knew she had to be.

I held his hand firmly as he helped me up, my gaze still on the blood.

"Griffin, can you do me a favor?"

"Yeah, whatever it is."

I shifted my gaze and looked him deep in the eyes.
"Take care of the pack and my mom."

He blinked, looking confused.
"Why? Where are you going?"

I turned back and headed towards my car.

"To find my mate."
