Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Layla’s POV.

“Why are you here?” Asher asked, his eyes darting around the room. I was elated when I realized the state of his sex-relationship he and Isabella had, my inner joy sparked seeing her sobbing silently at the corner while staring daggers at me.

“Can I see you for a minute?” I asked, my lips smacked against each other. “Oh hi Isabella! I'm sorry I didn't see you there! Alpha, why didn't you tell me you were having a conversation with your darling wife..did I interrupt an important conversation?”

Isabella’s silver hazel eyes stared maniacally at me, if she were to be given an opportunity to kill me at that moment, she would risk everything to do so. “It's a bit rude, don't you think so Melody? We were in the middle of an important discussion, so unethical you randomly interrupted us!” She retorted, her fists curling up to a ball.

“My apologies” I responded, my tone with sarcasm. “But I'm not here to speak to you, I'm here for him. Would you mind if I steal a few minutes of your time, Asher?” I added, smirking at her. I've been tolerant of her and her mother's torment all these years, it's not bad if she tastes a bit of her medicine?”

“Absolutely, you can. Let's head to my office. It's best if we have our conversation there. Don't you think so?” Asher responded, ignoring Isabella’s furrowed brow. She was visibly upset Asher declined her pleas and accepted mine, I felt a spark of joy in me. Things were about to change for the better.

Asher pulled my hands, guiding me to his office. “Here is my lovely office, do you like it?” He asked, staring softly at me. I was a bit skeptical about his intentions but after contemplating for a few minutes, I decided to follow along and step into his office.

“It's nice, really good!” I exclaimed, acting surprised. This wasn't new to me, the crescent moon pack has been my home for years before I got reborn as Melody. Memories of my night with Asher flooded my mind, recalling how he fitted perfectly in me. That was the best night of my life, also the worst.

“Your face says the opposite, it's repulsive” he said, grabbing a book on his book shelf. “Do you read?” He asked, “My dad was a huge fan of books, he taught me to become a book lover and a literature poet”

“No, I don't read. I don't fancy that” I replied, I was getting nervous at this point. “I just wanted to speak to you about your cousin, Damon” I lied, diverting the subject of the conversation totally.

“Damon? What's up with him?” He questioned, offering me a seat. “Have a seat, lovely lady and do you care for some cinnamon tea?” He added, pulling out two cups of cinnamon tea.

“No, thank you” I declined his offer quickly, I've been unable to trust Asher again after what he did to my family and the people in the pack. Turning them to his slaves was the height of it all, I knew they all betrayed me but the punishment is too severe. “Maybe some other time, we can share a cup of tea with our partners..like a double date. What do you think?”

He was hesitant, fully knowing well he felt nothing for Isabella neither does he regard her as his wife or partner. He has completely turned her into his sex slave and she was only relevant and important when he needed to be intimate with her. “No, I'll have to decline but thanks for the offer though” he replied, “So, why did you ask to see me, Melody?”

“It is about Damon, he's uncomfortable with the way you look and speak to me” I said, lying my ass out. There wasn't a major reason I wanted to see Asher, I just wanted to disrupt the conversation he was having with Isabella, souring her mood and making her feel miserable.

“My cousin has been like that since our early years, just ignore it” he responded, chuckling. “Damon is a jealous freak, he would do anything to have whatever he wants..even though it's clearly not his!” He added, biting his upper lip walking towards me. His hands grabbed my waist, pulling  close to my chest.

“What are..what..what..are you doing?” I stuttered, my voice shaky. His hands wrapped around my body, tightening his grip as his face moved close to mine.

“I still don't think you're Melody…” he said, whispering softly in my ears. “You can't fool me for long, I'll figure out who you truly are” he added, before loosening his firm grip around my waist. “Your hands are pretty small, reminds me of a woman I met a few months back!”

I slapped his hands off mine instantly, warning him strictly never to try what he just did. He was startled with my sudden outburst, his face perplexed and confused. “I thought I told you not to ever call me that!” I snapped, “All you do is ruin everything. I made a mistake asking for a conversation. I have to go right now, you can go back to your beloved wife!” I added, rolling my eyes and stepping out.

“Wait, Layla..I mean Melody!” Asher charged towards me, “You can't just leave like that, we haven't even talked about anything. It's unfair you made me leave her while I attended to you, don't you agree?” He added, stroking my face.

“Your hands off me right now!” I yelled slightly, “This was a mistake and I am to blame, get lost!” I added, creaking the door knob and banging the door shut behind me. To my surprise, Damon was right outside the door. His muscular body frame stood above me as his emerald green eyes searched mine for answers.

“What's going on?” He asked, his eyes flashing with anger. My wolf wasn't helping either. “Oh, oh, you're screwed Layla!” She said, teasing me.
