Chapter 52 Pretend No More
Two weeks pass, and Kaizer is still cold toward me.
He only talks to me when I ask him something, not like before, when we were always together in the palace. He’s also rarely home, and they say he travels to different empires. I don’t know how to approach him.
We’re all at the dining table now. When the Lancasters are all home, they eat together as a habit. They also eat human food like I’m used to, only the blood is different. I can’t help glancing at Kaizer. He hasn’t drunk my blood in months, does he also force himself to drink from a glass like me? I hope he’s not drinking another woman’s blood… My chest feels a slight pang.
I go back to my food, but my skin prickles when I feel Kaizer staring at me. I catch him looking at my neck with reddening eyes.
“Fuck, I need to drink outside.”
He stands up quickly and takes his glass. In seconds he’s gone from the dining room.
After Kaizer leaves, Chase speaks up right away.
“Tell me, is he trying to kill himself?” he says, shaking his head.
“He’s so thirsty for Saera, he’s holding back too much,” Travis scoffs.
“I bet a kilo of gold, he’ll give in in two days. You’ll hear him say ‘Let’s bite each other again, Saera, I can’t live without you’,” Randall says dramatically, making his siblings laugh. Even Larkin almost chokes at his nonsense.
“Two kilos of gold, he’ll give in in one day. He’ll say ‘Saera, I think I’ll die if you stay away from me. You’re my beautiful deity, you’re my everything’.”
Their laughter gets louder when Travis speaks up.
“Don’t mind him, Saera, Kaizer will come to you soon,” Enid says with a smile, but Astrid disagrees right away.
“Ten kilos of gold, Kaizer won’t go near her,” she says seriously before putting down her glass of blood. She stands up and leaves us all quiet at her words.
“She’s not the blue fire, Saera, those two just have a big problem.”
Randall even winks at me.
But a week passes and Kaizer Alaric still doesn’t come near me, looks like Astrid was right. I decide to walk around the front of the palace since I don’t want to stay inside. Kaizer just got back from somewhere, and I hear he’ll leave again today. I don’t know how to approach him.
I’m about to take another step when I hear some Lancasters talking.
“What do you think?” I recognize Travis’s voice.
“Possible, I heard him talking to someone in his room last night. Of course it was a woman, would Kaizer be with a man in his room?” Chase answers.
I freeze in place at what I hear.
“Kaizer’s bringing other women to the mansion?” Randall asks.
“He could be thirsty, it’s been months since he drank Saera’s blood. He’ll definitely look for a woman, we’re talking about Kaizer here, brothers.”
Instead of listening more to the Lancasters’ conversation, I choose to go back inside the palace. I won’t just believe what I hear. Damn. I really need to act before Kaizer pulls away from me completely.
When I go inside, the second prince is facing a huge mirror while three female attendants fix his clothes.
Our eyes meet in our reflections, but he’s the first to look away. I start walking toward him.
“Let me take care of His Highness’s clothes.”
The attendants stop and bow to me.
“Leave us.”
I smile slightly at the attendants, who leave quickly at my words. I go to Kaizer’s clothes.
“What color do you like, Your Highness?” I ask him.
“I like the blue one,” he answers me.
I quickly take the Ice Prince’s blue clothes and start putting them on him. I bite my lip as I button up his shirt, we haven’t been this close in months. I missed him. I want to hug him tight, hold his hands again, look into his reddening eyes. Kaizer…
“May I ask where you’re going?”
That’s all I can bring myself to ask.
Fuck. Do something, Saera.
“To Tethoris,” he answers briefly.
He doesn’t even say why. Does he really not care about me anymore?
“Thanks,” he says shortly when I finish buttoning him up. He turns his back on me like it’s nothing.
“Kaizer, are we okay?” I ask weakly.
He doesn’t answer, instead he walks closer to me. My heart races as he bends down quickly and kisses my cheek.
“Yes, we’re fine,” he answers shortly and the corners of my eyes burn even more. My Kaizer wouldn’t just kiss me on the cheek. We’re not fine.
That’s our last conversation, he’s been gone for another week. Not a day goes by that I don’t wait for him to come back, but he seems to be pulling away more and more. I’m struggling, I can’t do anything to win him back.
When Kaizer returns, he still treats me the same way. Nothing changes, I’m struggling with this.
“Oh fuck! I’m getting annoyed with you two!”
I jump in surprise when Enid suddenly pulls me to her room.
I see Astrid is inside too, she looks a bit brighter now and a woman wearing all white.
“Why?” I ask confused.
“Come on, you’ll be the masseuse first.”
Masseuse?
“What do I do?”
“Kaizer needs a massage, you need to act now.”
Astrid and Enid quickly undress me and put me in the same white outfit the older masseuse is wearing.
“Kaizer doesn’t want me…” I say hesitantly.
“Can’t you feel it, Saera? Kaizer wants you to come to him! Do something! Can’t you seduce him? My head’s getting hot from the two of you,” Astrid says irritably.
“Don’t seduce him too much, we don’t want things to go beyond making up. Remember, Saera, you need to stay a virgin until the other three women arrive. Keep this in mind because Kaizer has long forgotten it.”
I’m shocked when Astrid suddenly puts a necklace on me.
“Why do I need to wear this?”
Why does Astrid have my grandma’s necklace?
“Wear it first so Kaizer won’t sense your presence. Let him think you’re just a masseuse, princes’ masseuses don’t show their faces anyway. Once you’ve massaged him a bit, do what you need to do.”
What?
Enid lowers the veil over my face. The real masseuse hands me the oil I need for the massage. I start to get nervous.
Damn.
My heart pounds as I stand in front of Kaizer’s room. I take a deep breath before knocking, and when I finally open the door, I almost curse out loud at the sight of Kaizer lying face down on the bed, naked.
Fuck.
I feel my face burning. My whole body starts to feel warm. Damn it, Saera, this is not good.
“Faster,” Kaizer says right away.
I hurry forward despite the nervousness in my chest.
I sit down gently on his bed, my right hand won’t stop shaking as I put oil on my left palm. Fuck.
When my hands touch him for the first time, my system goes haywire as my fangs suddenly come out. Fuck. Fuck. I can’t control them, especially with the prince’s beautiful body laid out like this. Damn. Damn.
I know my eyes are staying red too. This is damn torture. Touching Kaizer’s beautiful body after months of longing for him is driving me crazy.
I can’t even massage him properly because my hands are shaking.
“I like your hands.”
My eyebrows shoot up at what Kaizer says. Am I massaging him right? Is he saying this to all his masseuses? But before I can work on him longer, he speaks again.
“I need force. Ride on my back.”
I almost gape at what the Ice Prince says.
What the fuck?! Does he really ask this of his masseuses? Can he tell it’s me?
Since I’m pretending, I do what he wants. As I sit on his back, I massage it gently. I almost curse myself as my fangs keep trying to come out, I want so badly to bite the prince I’m massaging. Fuck. My throat gets even drier when my eyes land on the skin on Kaizer’s back, his spade mark. I want so badly to press my lips there. Damn. Being a masseuse for a handsome prince is dangerous, I’m only sinning.
I massage his back upward again.
“Oh damn! Saera, let’s stop this baby…”
I jump in surprise when Kaizer turns to face me—his eyes bright red, his fangs out of control too.
Without warning he tears my clothes in two. I cling to him as he bites the top part of my right breast with his fangs.
“Kaizer…” I just call his name as I feel his lips on my skin.
“Kaizer…” I cling tighter to him. He’s not just drinking my blood, he’s teasing me with his tongue! My hands go down to his back. Damn. I want to caress him.
I close my eyes as I feel his fangs on my shoulder again. I can’t help but scratch his back. I’m dying on his fangs, I missed his lips and even his teasing tongue. I missed my Kaizer Alaric Lancaster.
I can’t keep up with what’s happening, I find myself on top of Kaizer as he runs his hands through my long hair, pulling me close to his neck.
“Drink up, baby, you need mine too. I’m dying on your fangs…”
