Chapter 36 Queen’s Wisdom
Fuck! How do I explain to her that the “first love” I’m talking about is happening right now? That’s why I’m so affected. Damn it. I shouldn’t have spoken. She won’t understand me at all.
“That’s unavoidable, my child. Even if he loved someone in the past, it stays in the past. It’s just a memory that can never be changed. What matters is you’re here in the present, close to the future. Remember that the present is more powerful because it’s when you shape your destiny. So as long as you have him now, don’t let anything from the past take that away from you.”
I finally looked at the woman because I was amazed by her words. Why does she speak like she knows my situation?
When our eyes met, she greeted me with a very warm smile. Her face is so kind, she looks like a goddess she’s so beautiful.
I was so amazed by her that I didn’t notice she had already pulled down my cover.
“Why are you hiding your face, my child? You’re so beautiful.”
She gently touched my cheek. What is she saying to me? Doesn’t she see herself in the mirror? She’s way more beautiful than me.
Why did she call me “child”? If you look at us, we’re almost the same age.
“May I know your parents’ names? I know all the beautiful women in this kingdom, why am I seeing you only now? Are you also a noble invited from another kingdom?”
I just shook my head at her question. Who is this beautiful woman?
“Mother Queen! Father is looking for you!”
I automatically put my hands up to my cover and hid my face again when I heard the snow prince’s voice.
He’s done kissing her now, that’s why the snow stopped falling.
Did I hear that right, Queen?! She’s the queen?! How did I not notice?
Even though I had my back turned and my head bowed in front of the queen, I could feel Kaizer staring at me from behind.
“Why don’t you come with us first?”
I shook my head several times at the queen. Shit.
“Aren’t you the woman with the contagious illness?”
I frowned at Kaizer’s question. From what I remember, I only told him I wasn’t beautiful. When did that become an illness? He walked closer to the queen while I bowed even lower so he wouldn’t notice my face.
“Illness? Do you have an illness, my child?” the queen asked me in surprise.
I quickly stood up and bowed again to the two royals of Wisteria.
“I’m sorry but I have to go now. Thank you so much, dear queen, for your wonderful advice. It’s an honor to talk to you.”
I turned around and hurried to leave, but before I could take even three steps, I heard the voice of Wisteria’s second prince.
“You seem to have forgotten to say goodbye to me, woman.”
I just rolled my eyes. I faced them again but still kept my head bowed.
“I’m afraid that just by speaking to you, I might infect you with my illness, dear prince. I’m only thinking of your safety because I know many women from different kingdoms would cry if our beloved prince got seriously sick.”
I just tried to calm myself down. I really want to take this cover off and show this arrogant prince how beautiful I am but because I still have self-control, I just bowed even lower.
Kaizer couldn’t speak after what I said, so I just started walking away from the mother and son.
“She’s beautiful, Kaizer. Where did you get that story about an illness?” I heard the queen ask him.
I didn’t hear Kaizer’s answer because I hurried to walk away.
I didn’t notice how long I’d been walking, and I accidentally bumped into someone. Not because I was careless, but because this vampire looked like he was deep in thought and wasn’t watching where he was going. But unfortunately, instead of him falling, I ended up sitting in the cold snow. The man held out his hand to help me up.
“I’m sorry.”
I froze where I sat when I heard the man’s voice. Fuck! It’s Gavin! I was hesitating to take his hand when he pulled me up anyway.
“Can you look at me?”
I got even more nervous at what he said. What will I do? Fuck.
“Dear prince, I have a contagious illness. Please don’t come close to me.”
Like I always do, I just bowed my head so he wouldn’t see my face.
“Oh.”
He stepped back a few times to get away from me. He and Kaizer are the same, so dramatic.
“But you’ve probably seen me before, right?”
I nodded twice.
“If so, can you tell me, am I handsome?”
Why is Gavin asking that?
“Yes, dear prince,” I answered. But I was surprised when he suddenly laughed out loud. I know that laugh well, it’s when he’s going crazy.
“You’re not telling the truth. What’s good in my power to charm any woman if the only one I want to use it on chose not to see me?”
He sat down in the middle of the snow, right where people were passing by, like he didn’t care what anyone thought. He just stared at the bright red rose in his hand while plucking its petals one by one.
So this is the day when all vampires in Igor thought the woman matched to him had broken the mirror.
“Tell me, what’s the use of having power to attract any woman when the only one I want won’t even look at me?”
Why is the past like this? It keeps squeezing my heart with everything I see. I want to hug Gavin and comfort him right now, but I just chose to stand and watch his sad face. He’s never shown this side of himself in the present, because I know him as a crazy prince who’s a problem for all of Igor. He chose to hide what’s really inside him.
I know he’s still waiting for that woman from another world even now. He loves her so much.
I want to tell him that she didn’t break the mirror, but I don’t want to change the past. He’ll find out when the time is right.
“Dear prince, the day will come when you’ll meet again.”
I didn’t get an answer from Gavin because he just stared blankly. I started walking again, looking for the princess I’m with.
But when something else caught my eye, my blood suddenly boiled and my head heated up.
The woman who was kissing Kaizer was gently covering Larkin’s eyes, he was talking with his friends. Larkin grinned when he recognized her, and his friends started teasing him too.
I just narrowed my eyes at the woman. What kind of trick is she playing? She’s playing with two brothers! She’s fooling both of them!
“I don’t like her.”
My eyes widened when I heard Travis’s voice next to me.
“Same here,” Randall quickly answered, he was next to me too.
Shit. Not with these two vampires.
