Chapter 11 Reborn Vampire
I don’t know what kind of hypnotism is in his voice. I can’t understand what’s happening to my body because my eyes are trying to find Gavin’s red eyes. What am I doing? Why am I drawn to him even though I know danger is near?
“Fuck! Don’t look into his eyes! Close your eyes, Saera! Kaizer, Saera’s eyes!” I hear Travis shout, his voice full of panic and urgency.
What’s happening to me? Why do I want to touch Gavin’s face? My body feels like it’s betraying me. I try to pull away, but my limbs feel like heavy chains. Every instinct screams to resist, yet every fiber of my being trembles toward him.
Before Kaizer can completely cover my eyes, I see Travis and Randall suddenly pounce on Gavin, who’s currently grinning at me like a predator savoring its prey. My chest tightens, my vision blurs, and an icy shiver runs through me.
What is happening? I immediately feel my body getting cold when Kaizer covers my eyes for a moment. Is this from his power again? I can’t tell where I end and this strange energy begins.
“Oh, don’t worry. It didn’t continue…” Gavin says, laughing, his voice cutting through the chaos like a knife.
I can already hear the rumbling of thunder and see lightning illuminating the jagged landscape. The ground shakes violently under the battle between Travis, Randall, and Gavin. My mind is foggy, my body numb, yet his grinning face is burned into my thoughts.
I thought he wasn’t an enemy? What did he do to me? My body is numb. And only his grinning face are running through my mind.
“Saera…”
My heart jumps at the familiar voice I hear.
“Saera…”
I know I’m currently in Kaizer’s lap. What’s happening? Why do I seem to have trouble breathing? What kind of power can Gavin do? It’s like he poisoned my whole body, infecting me with a desire I cannot control.
“It’s either she’ll love me or she’ll die…” Gavin said, grinning evilly.
What? Just a simple stare? Is this what Travis is saying about Gavin’s power? What about the women with this ability of his? The thought of the prophecy, the women, everything blurs in my mind.
“Saera…”
I feel Kaizer’s forehead touching mine, his warmth grounding me amidst the chaos.
“I have waited for you for years, I have waited so long to touch you. Don’t resist his spell, Saera, just… just love him. Love him and don’t die for me…”
What the hell?
I try to open my eyes. We’re surrounded by a very thick block of ice while lightning strikes violently in the distance. The wind howls like a chorus of screams, whipping around us.
“Gavin…”
I don’t know why this name comes out of my mouth. I want to take it back because of the pain I see in Kaizer’s red eyes. The vampire named Gavin is very powerful. He’s a dangerous vampire. His presence alone makes my body tremble, and yet, I can’t stop the pull.
“Bite her, Kaizer! Bite her!” Randall shouts loudly, the desperation in his voice matching the chaos around us.
Kaizer is just staring at me as if he didn’t hear anything from his brother. Even though my body is having trouble moving, I try to grin at him, giving him the permission my mind cannot voice.
He doesn’t waste any time. His eyes quickly turn red. My hands clutch his back as he starts biting my neck. His fangs pierce my skin, sending shivers of pain and strange warmth through my body. My nails dig into his clothes as he bites my shoulder next.
“Kaizer…”
I grab his hair when he sinks his fangs into the upper part of my chest. He keeps biting different parts of my body quickly, each bite making me weaker, yet more aware of him.
“You can’t do anything! That fuckshit prophecy is a goddamn hoax! The four women aren’t real! That woman is fake! She’s not even a vampire to protect herself! She’ll die useless…”
The thunder and lightning around us intensify, the shaking of the ground nearly knocking me from Kaizer’s lap. Snow begins to fall, blanketing the chaotic scene in a surreal, frozen silence that only heightens the terror and urgency.
I’m losing strength in my whole body. I’m getting weaker and weaker. Kaizer’s bites aren’t working on me, he’s trying to make me a vampire, but my body is refusing.
Kaizer’s fangs are already on my arms.
“Kaizer…”
I don’t know why my tears are falling. I’ve only been with this man for a short time, but my chest aches at the thought of leaving him. I don’t want to leave him. I accept becoming a vampire. I accept it now. I don’t want to leave this man. Damn.
Kaizer’s lips are full of my blood. I’m shaking my head at him, trying to fight the strange resistance my body is holding onto. If I was meant to change, shouldn’t it have happened with his first bite?
“Keep biting her, Kaizer!” Randall shouts, his voice barely audible over the storm.
Gavin is trying to get closer to us. What’s his big problem with the four women mentioned in the prophecy? Why is he so obsessed?
“Saera…”
I feel the destruction of my fancy dress. My hands clutch Kaizer as his fangs sink into my thighs. My body is burning with an indescribable hunger, yet I still resist.
What’s stopping me from changing into a vampire?
I reach for the necklace that my grandmother gave me. It helped me before, protecting me from monsters. Maybe it can help now. Maybe it can give Kaizer the chance he needs.
“Kaizer…”
He stops biting me and quickly touches my face.
“Remove my necklace, I’ll leave it to you…”
He shakes his head at me several times.
“No, no, Saera…”
I try to pull my grandmother’s necklace. The moment it disappears from my neck, I feel an explosion inside my body. Fire, ice, and pure energy crash through me. My throat dries up, and my vision sharpens.
“Saera?”
I find myself staring at Kaizer’s neck, seeing every vein, every pulse. How can I see this so clearly? His slow grin tells me everything.
“I made it.”
Kaizer opens his arms for me. I don’t know where my speed comes from, but suddenly I find myself hugging him, my lips seeking the neck my body now craves.
One bite revives me. My weakness evaporates into an overwhelming thirst I’ve never felt before. I feel him gently stroking my long hair, grounding me, loving me.
“Welcome to the vampire world, my Saera Yvaine Merriley…”
