Chapter 107 Chapter 107
Chapter 107 Chapter 107
“You swore allegiance to the Order. Yet you conspired against it.”
“I swore allegiance to creation,” I said, forcing my voice to hold. “To the harmony of what You made.”
“Harmony requires silence.”
“No,” I whisper. “Harmony requires love.”
The Throne flickered. For a heartbeat, I think I see something behind the light—sorrow, maybe. But then it’s gone, replaced by the weight of judgment.
“Bring him.”
The air splits open, and two Seraphim appear, dragging Azrael between them. Shackles of molten grace bind his wrists, his eyes dull but still alive. The sight nearly breaks me. His black wings streaked with silver were torn, but not by her. By us. By me.
“Michael,” he said, voice hoarse. “He’s watching her.”
I glance up, startled. “Who?”
“Father,” Azrael says, smiling faintly despite the blood on his lips. “He’s waiting for her to cross the final gate.” My chest tightened. The light above us flared with fury. “Enough.”
Azrael was thrown to his knees. The floor burned where he landed. He didn’t cry out. He just looked at me, calm and resigned. “Don’t let Him use me to break her.”
My hand trembled at my side. “Azrael…”
“You will stand down,” the Source commands. “Or join them.”
The threat hangs heavy. It’s not anger anymore. It’s finality. The kind of divine truth that turns even angels into ash. But I can’t. Not this time. “I already joined them,” I said quietly. The Throne goes silent. Then the world split. The storm started from within Heaven itself an eruption of divine energy tearing through the clouds, fracturing the silver gates. Every choir screams as the resonance breaks. For the first time in existence, Heaven bleeds. And through the fissure, I see it a blaze rising from below, golden and red, beautiful and terrible. Anarchy
Her power crashed into the gates like the weight of a sun. Flames crawl across the marble skies. Angels scatter. The human world below sees it as dawn come too early, a burning that swallowed stars. I stood in the ruins of the hall as the Source spoke again, quieter now.
“Michael.”
But I didn’t bow this time.
“She’s not your enemy,” I said. “She’s your reflection.”
“She is corruption,” he replied.
“She’s what happens when love survives punishment.”
The light surged, furious. “You would defy me for her?”
“I would defy anyone for them,” I answer. “Because You made us to feel, and now You condemn us for doing it right.” There was silence, deep, resonant, endless.
Then: “Then you have chosen.” And the Throne dimmed.
The fire broke through the veil. Heaven’s gates collapsed as Anarchy entered, not in the shape of a queen or demon or angel, but something beyond all that. Her wings stretch across the horizon, burning brighter than creation. Every step she took scorched the marble, her presence rewriting the air itself.
Behind her, the remnants of Hell’s legions follow, not as conquerors, but as believers. Azya. Daya. Gabriel Baltazaar. Every being bound by our oath stood united beneath her light. She didn’t look at me. She looked past me toward the Throne.
And for the first time in eternity, the light recoils.
“Where is he?” she demanded, her voice echoing across the realm. “WHERE IS AZRAEL?” No answer. Only the stillness of a god caught in His own web.
“So be it,” she declared, raising her hand, and the sky burned. I step forward, wings unfurling, catching her fire. “Geminia…”
Her gaze met mine, fierce and heartbreakingly human. “He chained him in your name.”
“I know.” she whispered. “Then stand aside.”
I look back at the Throne, at the radiance that once defined everything I believed in. Then I turn to her.
“No.” Her eyes narrow until I kneeled.
“Not against you,” I say. “Beside you.”
The armies behind me lowered their weapons. One by one, the angels bowed. The old order cracks under the weight of choice. Even the flames of Hell kneeled in silence. The Source thundered.
“You betray Me.” I raise my head. “No. I finally understand you.”
The fire wrapped around us, light and shadow colliding, creation remaking itself. The heavens tremble. Mortals below see the sky open like a wound of gold, their prayers drowned by thunder. The old world ends in brilliance. Geminia walked forward, her hand trailing across my shoulder, a silent thank-you, a promise that none of this is for conquest. Only for love. When she reaches the heart of the light, she whispered one name.
“Azrael.”
The chains shattered like glass, and he fell from the heavens into her waiting arms, wings broken but eyes bright. The moment they touch, everything stops: time, sound, and thought. The universe holds its breath. I turn away. Some things are too sacred even for angels to witness.
When the storm finally faded, the Throne stood empty. The light is softer now, not gone, just changed. Heaven hummed with something new: peace born of ruin.
I walked through the silence, armor cracked, feathers scorched. The others are waiting at the edge of the veil.
Gabriel looked at me. “Is it done?”
I nod. “The Source is silent.”
“And them?”
“They’re gone,” I say softly. “Together.”
Azya wiped a tear she’ll never admit to. Daya leaned against her shoulder. Baltazaar looked up, smirking faintly. “Figures they’d rewrite existence just to have a happy ending.”
“Wouldn’t you?” I ask.
He grinned. “Every damn time.” We stood there, five remnants of two broken realms, watching the horizon mend itself. The sky glowed gold again not divine, not infernal. Just alive. Balance.
Later, I found a single feather lying where the Throne once burned. White streaked with crimson light and flame entwined. I pick it up, holding it between my palms.
“Rest easy, you impossible fools,” I whisper. “You earned it.” The feather dissolved, scattering into light that drifted through the cracks of Heaven, down to Earth, where dawn breaks warm and gentle. For the first time since creation, there’s no command to follow, no war to fight. Just silence. And peace.
Geminia
It’s strange, waking in a world you remade. The sky above me isn’t Heaven’s white or Hell’s red anymore; it is something between, soft gold fading into violet. The air hummed with energy that felt alive, curious, and unclaimed. I breathe it in, and for the first time in what feels like forever, I don’t taste ash.
We’re somewhere beyond the fissure. Not Earth, not the realms a pocket that shouldn’t exist. The ground beneath me glows faintly when I touch it, responding like it knows my name.
Azrael lay beside me, wings spread across the grass. His eyes, blue and bright as a new dawn, are open, watching me quietly. The faintest smile curves his mouth.
“You did it,” he murmured. I shake my head. “We did it.” He reaches for my hand, his touch warm and grounding. “You burned through Heaven.”
“I was angry.”
“You burned through Hell too.”
“Still angry.”
He laughed, pulling me closer until our foreheads touched. “And now?”
I glanced around us. The wind carried no screams, no hymns, and no judgment. Just the whisper of creation trying to learn what comes next.
