Chapter 258 Richard Suspects Catherine's Hidden Identity
Catherine didn't know what she was feeling!
Emotions seemed distant to her, something she'd never really experienced before.
When facing Alexander, that involuntary quickening of her heartbeat - was that attraction?
If not, then what was it?
Alexander looked seriously at Catherine in front of him, took out a handkerchief from his pocket, and carefully wiped the blood off Catherine's hands.
"Is Richard okay?"
"He's fine, just unconscious. We can ask what happened once they wake up."
Catherine was speaking when she suddenly noticed Alexander pulling her hand close to his face and sniffing it!
"It's chicken and duck blood, nothing to worry about."
Watching Alexander carefully clean each of her fingers before casually wiping the blood off his own hands, Catherine felt warmth in her heart.
"Thank you."
"If you really want to thank me, can I give you a hug?"
Alexander's eyes held a smile. His tall figure cast a shadow that completely covered her slender form, as if already holding her in his arms.
Catherine met Alexander's gaze, and her heart started racing again involuntarily.
"Okay."
Joy flashed in Alexander's eyes. His hand had barely reached Catherine's shoulder when Richard's shout suddenly came from inside the house.
"Catherine! Are you out there?"
Catherine pushed Alexander away with one hand and ran toward the house. "Richard, I'm here."
Alexander looked at his empty hand, which seemed to still hold Catherine's scent.
He had been so close to holding her. Alexander clenched his fist unwillingly, then laughed bitterly and followed Catherine inside.
Richard rubbed his head, looking at Catherine crouching in front of him.
"Catherine, what are you doing here?"
"Richard, never mind that - what happened to you and Sophia? How did you end up here? You've both been missing from the crew for almost three days."
Richard said in surprise, "That long? No wonder you got involved! This is my fault!"
Catherine shook her head and helped Richard stand up.
Sophia nearby also slowly came to, saw Catherine and Venus who had rushed over, then her head tilted and she passed out again.
When the crew arrived and saw the scene, they broke out in cold sweat. They hurriedly checked both of them over and brought them back to the small village.
Richard sat in Neil's courtyard and ate several bowls of noodles before coming back to himself. He wiped his mouth and started recalling what happened a few days ago.
That night, Richard had just been about to lie down.
Every time he lay in Catherine's small room, he felt genuinely heartbroken.
This room was only as big as the bathroom in his room at The Windsor Mansion, barely big enough to fit Richard's tall frame.
The old wardrobe was heavy and bulky, and the bed was made by a village carpenter using wood that was already a bit damp.
Catherine and Elodie had lived in this kind of place for so many years!
Richard had a sudden impulse to look through the things in the room. After texting Catherine and getting her permission, Richard got right up.
Elodie had kept Catherine's childhood things well-preserved in boxes.
Every test paper from childhood to now had perfect scores. Opening a small wooden box, he found Catherine's childhood drawings inside.
Richard was a bit surprised - these drawings of Catherine's looked somehow familiar. It seemed like he'd seen this style somewhere before.
Richard didn't think much of it and walked to the wardrobe to see what was inside.
As soon as he opened it, he saw Declan and Anouk hiding inside!
Richard froze.
What kind of performance art was this?
Roof tiles on the balcony suddenly fell, and several obsessed fans who had been waiting climbed up the maple tree. Seeing the people in the room, they were stunned too!
A scream came from Sophia's room next door!
"What the hell! I'll kill you!"
She had been about to rest when Brent tried to sneak into her bed with bad intentions in the middle of the night!
Sophia beat Brent bloody on the spot.
Richard shrugged. "Then we chased them all the way to the Brown family's old house, somehow passed out, and when I opened my eyes I saw Catherine."
Sophia ate a bowl of noodles and drank a bowl of porridge, put down her bowl and burped.
"I was starving! Catherine, if you hadn't come, we might have starved to death there. I don't know where anyone would get ether in a normal village."
Catherine frowned slightly. "With the crew's level of security, neither the Brown family nor obsessed fans should have had a chance to get near where you were staying."
Both Richard and Sophia had inhaled high-concentration ether.
Even in Imperia City it wasn't easy to get high-concentration ether, let alone in such a remote place.
None of this could be coincidence - someone must have deliberately targeted Richard and Sophia!
Catherine glanced at Brent lying on the ground. "Who hit him?"
Sophia whistled. "Who knows? We were all unconscious anyway, and when we opened our eyes this guy was already like this!"
It was obvious Sophia had beaten him, but since there was no proof, she didn't want to go to the police station!
The police took away the unconscious Brown family members. Those obsessed fans who had broken in were long gone.
Catherine looked seriously at Richard.
"Richard, you still need to press charges against those people. You can't keep indulging them like this."
Richard touched Catherine's hair and said gently, "Sorry Catherine, for making you worry about me."
The obsessed fans were out of control. Philip had said many times they couldn't be tolerated.
"One year, a fan got in a car accident while chasing my car, and the fan's family said it was my fault."
"Later, I don't know how they got the information, but someone messaged me asking what if my sister was also someone else's fan?"
Richard smiled a bit sheepishly.
"I know it's not possible - my sister would never be someone's obsessed fan, but..."
But Richard still couldn't help thinking about that possibility!
"I just thought, if I treat them well, others will treat you well too."
Sophia snorted. "Richard, how old are you? Still so naive? Forget about whether Catherine would be someone's obsessed fan - just your wishy-washy personality will get you in trouble sooner or later."
Sophia had known since Richard gave Esme an audition and a supporting role.
Knowing Esme wasn't a good person, Richard still wanted to give her a chance, just like with those obsessed fans.
Richard was probably the kindest and softest-hearted person in the entire Windsor family!
In the entertainment industry, that kind of personality wasn't exactly a good thing!
Wasn't this incident caused by Richard's soft heart?
Richard raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Sophia, did you know Catherine before?"
