Chapter 201: Using George's Personality to Guarantee Your Cure

Chapter 201: Using George's Personality to Guarantee Your Cure

Emilia blinked and looked at George in front of her.

"Did you save me, George? Thanks. I guess we're even now—I'll let go of that time you grabbed my neck and touched my waist."

Juniper looked at George with disgust.

"George, what have you done? Acting like a creep."

George faced his two sisters' questioning looks, his face turning red as he struggled to explain.

"I wanted Emilia to lead me to the Blade of Dusk's location. I was desperate and acted inappropriately, but I apologized afterward!"

The Windsor family rarely dealt with the Hughes family, and George only knew Emilia as someone with a difficult and odd personality.

He acted that way out of desperation—how was he supposed to know what Emilia was really like!

Emilia smiled weakly, "Forget it. I'm generous. I didn't forgive you last time, but I forgive you now."

Catherine opened the thermos beside her and handed it to Emilia.

"My mom prepared this for you. Don't think it's not good enough."

Aurora knew that Emilia and Catherine got along well, so she insisted they bring food when they left. She said Emilia grew up without a mother and must have had a hard time.

You should know that neither of the Windsor family's two daughters had any real friends!

Aurora was as excited as if Catherine had made her first friend ever.

The steaming chicken soup had a golden glow, and another thermos contained stewed fruit, its sweet aroma filling the air.

Catherine placed the stewed fruit beside Emilia.

"Drink this. You inhaled a lot of smoke, and this is good for your lungs."

Emilia held the soup in her hands, looking at Catherine with teary eyes. "Did Aurora prepare this for me?"

"Yes, my mom said no one takes care of you, so she asked Juniper and me to bring it. She'll send you food every day while you're in the hospital. Don't worry."

Emilia looked at the fragrant soup in front of her.

Her heart filled with bittersweet emotion, yet she wanted to laugh.

So someone would actually take care of her.

Tears rolled down Emilia's cheeks in big drops, falling into the soup and mixing with it.

"Thank you, Catherine. I'm so lucky to have you!"

She looked at Catherine, crying so hard she could barely breathe.

If Catherine hadn't saved her, she wouldn't be able to drink this wonderful soup.

"I never met my mom. For as long as I can remember, my dad said my mom wasn't a good person. But Maurice is older than me—how ridiculous is that? The child he had with his secretary is older than the one with his wife. Who's the bad person here?"

"Later, people from Blade of Dusk found me and gave me many things. My mom knew long ago that she couldn't be there to raise me, so she left me so many things."

Emilia sobbed as she took small sips of the soup Aurora had prepared for her.

It was the first time in Emilia's life she felt a mother's care, even if it wasn't from her own mother.

Catherine handed Emilia tissues to wipe her tears. "Don't cry. You did great. Everything will get better."

Juniper nudged George, who was standing silently beside her.

"That's right, smooth sailing ahead! George will definitely heal your injuries so they won't leave any scars! I guarantee it with George's reputation!"

George was confused.

When did he say Emilia's burns definitely wouldn't leave scars?

The burns on Emilia's legs weren't large, but judging by their severity, complete healing was almost impossible. What could he guarantee with?

Why didn't Juniper use her own reputation to guarantee it!

But facing Emilia's bright eyes still glistening with tears, George swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue. He couldn't bear it and turned his head away.

"I guarantee it."

Meanwhile, in the ICU.

Gavin stared at the patient lying in bed and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Finally awake. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how to explain this to Owen."

The person in the bed didn't have the energy to speak yet, just looked at Gavin with some confusion.

He seemed to remember that the person who saved him was a girl.

The voice was different from Gavin's. He was certain that Gavin wasn't the one who performed his surgery!

But then who was it?

"Alright, rest well. Owen is on his way!"

Gavin ordered a bunch of tests to make sure all the patient's vital signs were normal before leaving the ICU.

He ran into George and Catherine coming out of a hospital room. George stepped forward and patted Gavin's shoulder.

"Impressive, Gavin. You saved a patient with an aortic dissection."

"You would have done the same. If you hadn't been treating another patient at the time, this one would probably have been yours."

As Gavin spoke, he glanced at Catherine and winked at her, signaling that the patient was doing well.

"Saving lives is all the same. His condition was very dangerous. Even if I had done it, I couldn't guarantee such good results."

George thought about the surgery on that patient with admiration. Gavin truly was one of the best doctors!

Gavin looked at Catherine beside him, his eyes nearly twitching.

If Catherine didn't care about taking credit, it really wouldn't have fallen to him.

Catherine's expression remained calm, just a slight smile at the corner of her mouth, completely unaware that she was actually the one being praised.

"What about the person you treated yesterday? How are they?"

"Saved. Which hospital did they send the Hughes family people to?"

Gavin shook his head. "The hospital next door. The Hughes family's situation is a mess—bankruptcy and fire. I think Anthony can probably be saved, but he'll most likely be a vegetable!"

Catherine turned around and said calmly, "He took a large dose of Vitality Pills. He won't survive even as a vegetable."

Even without this fire, Anthony's death was only a matter of time.

Gavin was first surprised, then nodded knowingly.

"The Hughes family's two sons are in more danger. If they can't be saved, the Hughes family is completely finished."

George thought about the Hughes family's actions, his professional ethics keeping him from rolling his eyes.

"But that Esme, she wasn't badly hurt."

When Gavin mentioned Esme, his expression was a bit strange.

He still hadn't figured out how Esme got from the Windsor family to the Hughes family.

Esme's position in the Hughes family was too marginal, so she was assigned a less desirable room, which ironically allowed her to escape quickly when the fire started.

Catherine's gaze fell on Emilia, who was chatting with Juniper.

Emilia sat up straight, looking haggard, and said something to Juniper that made them both laugh.

Sunlight from the window fell on them, adding a sense of peaceful contentment.

Catherine smiled slightly and said softly, "It doesn't matter. Save them. But even if the Hughes family is saved, they're still finished."

The big surprise prepared for the Hughes family was still waiting ahead!

Juniper closed the hospital room door and came out. "Got her to calm down. I told her to stay at the Windsor Villa for a few days after she recovers! I'm so good at this! George, can Emilia's burns really not be healed?"

George's expression looked conflicted.

Gavin received Catherine's signal and coughed twice.

"Don't worry, I have a way!"
