Chapter 174 Juniper's Identity Exposed
Jacob is quite a cautious person.
In his story, Juniper went to the Windsor family by coincidence. But with so many children in the orphanage, why Juniper specifically?
Jacob clenched his teeth, "It really was a coincidence."
"I investigated all the children who came out of Angel's Haven Orphanage that year. You just happened to pick the most outstanding and intelligent one. What a coincidence."
Jacob's gaze became evasive.
"Alright, that child was indeed specifically chosen. That person said this child was excellent, and no one would question her identity if she went to the Windsor family."
Catherine nodded, agreeing with this explanation.
Juniper actually looked a lot like the Windsor family members - smart, beautiful, and refined. She clearly looked like a child raised by the Windsor family. When they stood together, no one would doubt Juniper's identity.
"Whose child is she?"
Jacob hesitated, not speaking for a long while.
"She's doing well at the Windsor family. Why must you dig into her identity?"
Juniper was indeed doing well at the Windsor family.
But Juniper had the right to know her origins and the right to choose her own family!
Catherine had experienced such a choice herself and understood how difficult it was to accept new family members. But knowing everything was Juniper's right!
"You don't need to worry about that. Just tell me whose child she is."
Jacob sighed and gave a bitter smile.
"If I remember correctly, that child is from the Howard family in Imperia City!"
Catherine and Alexander were both shocked.
Juniper was actually a Howard family child!
Timothy looked at Alexander and said unhappily, "Your dad has an illegitimate daughter?"
Alexander immediately denied it, shaking his head. "My parents have a great relationship."
"Really? You're not with your dad all the time. What if he messed around outside? He wouldn't tell you."
Faced with Timothy's disbelief, Alexander had to add, "Even if there's a possibility of an illegitimate child, at least there isn't one Juniper's age."
The two years when Juniper was born were also when Alexander's mother had her accident. At such a critical time, how could Alexander's father do something to betray his wife?
Jacob spoke quietly.
"She's Evander from the Howard family's child. He probably doesn't even know this child exists."
Alexander said in surprise, "Evander?"
Catherine thought of the image of Juniper and Evander standing together. There was an inexplicable harmony. The way Evander looked at Juniper was more affectionate than how a typical boss would look at a subordinate!
"Since we're talking about this, what about the incident with Evander's wife at the hospital?"
Jacob smiled and shook his head.
"That, I absolutely cannot say. I can only tell you that when she had her accident, she gave birth to a child. Because it was Evander and her child, the baby must be very smart."
Catherine looked at Jacob, as if searching for more clues on his face.
She said seriously, "Then earlier, when my grandmother was hospitalized, what did you do that made her leave the Windsor family?"
Timothy didn't expect Catherine's questions to involve Elodie too. He wanted to crack open Jacob's skull and look inside!
Jacob looked at the furious Timothy. "Do you have any alcohol? Let me have a drink."
Timothy gritted his teeth, pulled an exquisite flask from his waist, and threw it over.
"Hope it doesn't kill you!"
The strong liquor burned his throat, and Jacob coughed violently.
After a moment, he sat up straight.
"I didn't handle this matter, but I can tell you that the previous director of Vinehill Hospital was the one who gave me orders. I know limited information. Elodie didn't die and gave birth to a child, but the child given to her wasn't the one she gave birth to. Do you understand what I'm saying?"
Under the influence of alcohol, Jacob became emotional too.
"I don't know exactly what happened! I only know that after I switched the children, they said these were methods used before, and using them again wouldn't be discovered!"
"If what I did is found out, neither the Windsor family nor the Howard family will spare me! But God will forgive me!"
"No matter who it is, everyone will forget everything from the past! God will hear my prayers! Mothers can forget their own children, and couples will forget their former lovers. God will always bless his believers!"
"Love! We contribute love to the world! Children, look at us! You will become the brightest stars in heaven!"
Jacob began chanting choir hymns, the kind that children in the orphanage used to sing - disjointed and chaotic.
Timothy frowned. "What's all this? Has he gone crazy? I can't understand a word!"
Catherine bent down to pick up the bottle from the floor.
Strong vodka, enough to make a sober adult dizzy and confused.
"Let's wait until he sobers up. When he wakes up, give him these pills."
Catherine took off a necklace, opened the locket pendant, and handed it to Timothy.
"What's this? You really want to save him?"
Catherine looked at Timothy helplessly. "He must know about what happened to my grandmother back then. Otherwise, who else can you ask? Can you find the previous director of Vinehill Hospital? At least he must know who the previous director was."
Timothy nodded. "You're right. Don't worry, I'll make sure he lives until then!"
A subordinate ran in from outside, carrying a sniper rifle on his shoulder.
"Timothy, there's a bunch of idiots outside saying they want to break into the prison. How should we greet them?"
Ironclad Jail was boring every day. Having people come to break in was actually exciting!
The subordinates outside were all thrilled!
Timothy kicked him angrily. "From now on, ask Catherine about prison matters! I'm so old now. From now on, the prison belongs to Catherine!"
Catherine glanced at him lightly.
"I don't want it. It's unlucky."
Timothy immediately put on a flattering smile.
"Right, right, you're absolutely right. Then I'll manage it for you first! The prison doesn't look good, but it's actually very useful! How do you want to deal with those people trying to break in? Feed them to sharks or pour them in cement?"
"If they die, Jacob will never speak again in his lifetime."
Timothy slapped his forehead. "Then I'll go check first, in case those subordinates outside kill them directly!"
Timothy rushed toward the prison exit at full speed.
Catherine looked at Alexander beside her.
"What do you think about Juniper's situation?"
If Juniper really was a Howard family child, the Howard family had the right to know.
"I plan to tell Evander and see what he thinks."
Felix was old. If he knew this news, he'd probably rush to Tranquil County immediately and scare Juniper.
"I'll tell Juniper. She has absolute right to know about this. No matter what she chooses, she's my family."
Catherine looked at the recording file on her phone and chose to send it.
Alexander looked at her and smiled. "Don't worry. Although I'm also surprised, if she really is a Howard family child, my grandfather will definitely like her. There isn't a single girl in this generation of the Howard family."
"That's best."
Tranquil County.
Bethany, along with Aurora and the Windsor family members, stood on a hillside waving at Juniper.
"Juniper! We're here!"
Juniper was still wearing her uniform, completely not expecting why all her family members had come to see her.
Could it be that everyone at home was scared by what happened at the lab last time?
"Mom, Dad, why are you all here?"
"To see you! Your lab is way too high up. Your mom and I are exhausted."
Juniper quickly went to help Bethany.
She received a file from Catherine on her phone. Juniper happily opened it.
"Catherine must miss me."
After listening to what was in the file, the whole family stood frozen in shock!
Juniper was actually a Howard family child, and Evander's child at that!
