Chapter 101: Retribution, Oliver Diagnosed with a Terminal Illness!
# Healing Touch Hospital, Fifth Floor Inpatient Ward
Oliver woke up from unconsciousness, his entire body aching everywhere.
He'd already been kidnapped and beaten up, then got into a huge fight with Steven at the cemetery. Oliver felt like every bone in his body was about to fall apart.
Steven also opened his eyes and woke up.
Molly rushed over immediately. "What on earth happened? Weren't you supposed to be visiting Mom's grave?"
"Don't even get me started! That lunatic Oliver actually threw away my mom's urn! I'm going to kill him!"
As soon as Steven moved, his waist made cracking sounds, and the pain made him grimace.
Oliver, lying in the next bed, got upset when he heard this.
"Steven, you were the one trying to mess with my family's burial site. You had Lucas renovate our house just so you could move in yourself later, didn't you? I don't care—you have to give me back my old house and burial site right now, or forget about me letting Clara marry into your family."
Molly wasn't any better. She put her hands on her hips and started yelling at Oliver.
"Are you kidding me? You think the Johnson family would want that old house of yours covered in bird droppings? You really think our Lucas wants your Clara? She has nothing to offer, and you actually think you're some kind of important family?"
"Lucas won't want Clara anyway!"
Oliver got anxious when he heard this.
"Nice try! Clara and Lucas have an engagement. If you want to break it off, just wait to be laughed at!"
"Are you joking? Why would anyone laugh at our Lucas for breaking off an engagement with a woman picked up from a trash can? The Smith family has to pay all my husband's medical bills!"
Oliver wasn't scared. He sneered.
"Fine, if that's how you want to play it, I'm calling the police!"
It was an undeniable fact that Steven mysteriously showed up at Elodie's grave, and he'd used all those shady methods to take over the Smith family's house and burial site!
Clara felt humiliated being scolded by Molly, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Clara, don't cry. I'll find you a better fiancé in the future. What kind of behavior is this!"
"As if Clara could find anyone better! She really thinks she's something special!"
The two families were at each other's throats, ready to have another fight right there in the hospital.
Lucas had a splitting headache from all the noise. He couldn't be bothered to comfort the sobbing Clara and just wanted to find a chance to slip away. He'd made plans with some local models to go out and have some fun.
Just as he reached the door, a doctor pushed it open and walked in.
"Steven, you have lung cancer. Family members should start preparing for what comes next."
"What!"
Lucas stopped in his tracks and turned to look at the doctor holding the diagnosis report.
"Lung cancer? How could I have lung cancer? Doctor, shouldn't you run more tests? Why do I need to prepare for a funeral?"
Steven was nearly in tears. He'd only been feeling a bit unwell these past couple of days—how did it suddenly become lung cancer?
And the kind where you need to prepare for a funeral!
In the next bed, Oliver burst out laughing.
"Haha, some people do so much evil, their hands aren't clean, their hearts are filthy—now even God can't stand it anymore!"
"This is karma!"
Oliver couldn't stop laughing.
"Clara, I heard cancer can be hereditary. We don't want people like this—absolutely don't marry into that family!"
Clara still had tears on her face, but she thought Oliver had a point.
The doctor walked over to Oliver's bed and handed him a diagnosis report.
"Oliver, you have stomach cancer. Your family can start preparing too."
Oliver's laughter caught in his throat!
What was going on?
How did he get sick too?!
Looking at the diagnosis, it clearly stated late-stage stomach cancer, along with a long list of data Oliver couldn't understand!
Steven in the next bed burst out laughing.
"Hahaha, serves you right! That's what you get for laughing at me—this is karma!"
"Even if I'm sick, I still have a son to carry on my line. You only have a daughter—your family line ends here, hahaha!"
Not having a son was Oliver's greatest pain in life!
Unfortunately, Celeste's health had problems after giving birth and she couldn't have more children. The women he kept on the side all just wanted to focus on their careers—none of them wanted to have kids.
Oliver ignored the pain in his body and sat up abruptly.
"No, doctor, what's going on? I'm still young—how could I have stomach cancer?"
Steven laughed.
"You're fifty-six, you're not young anymore."
The doctor ignored their bickering and said coldly, "Your diet is seriously problematic. You probably eat greasy food regularly. Steven smokes too much, and the cancer cells have already spread. Our hospital can't do anything."
Oliver couldn't understand it. He was so careful about his health!
He saved all his meat dishes for dinner because he didn't eat lunch at home, so he didn't have to share his expensive ingredients with Celeste and Clara.
Back when Catherine still lived at home, he wouldn't even let her eat dinner to keep her figure trim.
But the ingredients were already prepared, so he couldn't just not eat them, right?
Over time, he often ate two meals in one evening, then went straight to bed afterward.
Molly hit Steven while crying, "I told you to quit smoking, but you just wouldn't listen. Now look what happened! What are Lucas and I supposed to do? He's not even married yet!"
Steven also looked dejected, staring at his test report in disbelief.
Oliver made several phone calls with his report, and everyone told him the same thing.
His illness couldn't be cured!
Clara hesitated for a moment, then bit her lip and spoke up.
"Dad, Steven, I just saw Catherine at the hospital. Since she's working as a caregiver for the Windsor family now, she must know a lot of doctors, right? I heard George from the Windsor family is a genius doctor. If Catherine would be willing to make an introduction, could Dad's illness still be saved?"
Oliver perked up immediately.
"I know about George too. I heard that the one treating Marcus is the renowned medical expert Gavin. If we could get them to look at my condition, maybe there's still hope!"
"Clara, you said you saw Catherine here? Where is she?"
Steven's family in the next bed also pricked up their ears.
If they could contact Catherine and get her to introduce them to George, maybe their illnesses could still be saved!
Clara stammered, her eyes darting around.
"Catherine seems to be pregnant, in the maternity ward. There was a man with her I didn't recognize, so I didn't dare go up and ask."
