Josephine glanced at her phone. It wasn't even noon yet.
Stuart had just finished making love to her and now had to rush to comfort Doris.
He was indeed busy.
Josephine didn't know what had happened, but she could hear Doris sobbing.
Stuart hung up and started getting dressed.
Josephine still felt the intense pleasure and softness.
She lay on the bed, watching Stuart put on his pants, covering his abs.
As he dressed, he said, "Doris's brother had a car accident. I'm going to check on him. If it's serious, help me contact the hospital. Actually, you can come with me."
Josephine didn't move.
Stuart, now buttoning his shirt, frowned at her. "Why aren't you moving?"
"I don't seem to have an obligation to help your..."
She paused, carefully choosing her words, and continued, "Help your lover's brother, right?"
"You're a doctor, saving lives is your duty," Stuart's eyes turned cold. "Josephine, don't be so heartless."
Josephine chuckled.
How ridiculous.
How ironic.
He asked his wife to help his mistress's brother and said it was her duty, telling her not to be cold-hearted.
Why did she...
Stuart suddenly climbed onto the bed, his hands on either side of her.
He looked down at her and gently bit her earlobe. "So, you weren't satisfied with my performance just now?"
Twenty minutes later, Stuart drove Josephine to the scene of Doris's brother's accident.
Doris's brother had only sustained minor injuries and had already left with the ambulance.
Doris stood alone on the roadside, when she saw Stuart getting out of the car, she rushed into his arms.
When she finally noticed Josephine, there was a hint of dissatisfaction in her tearful eyes.
"Stuart, why is she here too?" J
osephine adjusted her hair, tucking it into her coat.
Doris noticed the hickey on her neck. She had many hickeys! The ones visible were just a fraction of what she had.
Josephine was definitely showing off!
She did it on purpose!
Doris was consumed by jealousy.
She let go of Stuart, carefully holding onto his sleeve, and looked up at him.
"I'm sorry, I, I've caused you trouble again, but I'm so scared."
Stuart's expression softened. "It's okay, don't be afraid, I'll take care of it."
Unable to bear the sight of them, Josephine couldn't help but speak, "Mr. Haustia, may I leave now?"
Stuart glanced at her, then turned back to Doris and said, "I'll take you back first."
"I'm, I'm scared." Doris held onto his arm. "Don't leave me, can you stay with me tonight?"
Stuart agreed. He looked at Josephine. "You go back."
Josephine looked at him for a few seconds, said nothing, and turned to leave.
Stuart subconsciously raised his leg.
Doris shook his arm and said, "I was scared to death."
He lowered his head and comforted her for a few moments, then looked up, but Josephine was already gone.
Tossed around in the middle of the night, Josephine could barely get up the next day.
She had to go to the hospital for the meeting in the morning, so she resisted the urge to yawn and pressed her lips together.
Liam nudged her and then handed her something. She took it and discreetly put it in her mouth. It was her favorite chocolate, sweet and fragrant, melting in her mouth.
After the meeting, Liam brought her a cup of hot coffee. "Where were you last night? You seem so tired today!"
Josephine replied without looking up from the medical records, "I watched a drama, quite amusing."
Liam leaned in. "What drama?" Josephine closed the medical records and said coldly, "I took a nap, I forgot."
A nurse came to call Liam. He immediately returned to his composed and indifferent self.
"I'm coming." He finished and went to see Josephine, reaching out to touch her hair. "Take care of yourself. You look tired lately."
Before Josephine could respond,he was already gone.
Josephine laughed and shook her head, then went to check on the patients and perform surgeries. She was so busy that it was almost midnight when she noticed the missed calls on her phone, all from Todd and Esther.
She returned their calls, and as soon as Todd answered, he started blaming her, "Josephine, are you trying to drive me crazy? I told you to secure that project, and what happened?"
Josephine had no idea what he was talking about, but it seemed he hadn't secured the project.
She replied, "Dad, it's normal to have ups and downs in business, right?"
"Stuart is my son-in-law! And I can't even get a project from his subsidiary now! Everyone is laughing at me! You've really embarrassed me!"
The phone was taken by someone else, and the voice on the other end changed.
It was Esther.
She said, "Josie, your father and I have worked so hard for you. You're our only child, and all this wealth will be yours in the future."
Josephine replied, "I don't want you to work so hard."
"What did you say?"
Todd grabbed the phone back.
"You go find Stuart right now I want to hear his explanation!"
" Why don't you go find him? Josephine!"
Todd was furious. "Did I raise you for nothing? Are you going or not? Do you want your grandparents' efforts to go to waste?"
The call was disconnected, and Josephine was left in silence.
She took a deep breath, changed out of her work clothes, and decided to visit Stuart's company during her lunch break.
After work, the receptionist was chatting with someone, and Josephine overheard their conversation.
It turned out that Doris had gotten out of Stuart's car that morning. So, were they together all night? Did they spend the night together?
Josephine went to the top floor as soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Doris. She was sitting at a desk, and Stuart was standing beside her, speaking softly.
Doris would occasionally cover her mouth and giggle, or blink her eyes at Stuart, looking cute and playful.
Josephine's gaze fell on Doris's profile, and it seemed to overlap with a face from her memory.
Josephine cleared her throat. Both of them looked up. "What are you doing here?"
Stuart frowned when he saw her. "Do you need something?"
"Let's talk in your office," Josephine said. "I have something to discuss with you."
Doris quickly stood up, her face pale, and nervously bit her lip. "I'll leave."
Stuart held her back. "Where are you going? There are no secrets between me and her, you can stay and listen."
"Don't say that," Doris tugged at his sleeve, her gaze full of innocence. "Josie will get angry."
Unable to hold back, Josephine said coldly, "Who allowed you to call me that?"
